Chapter 132: Chapter One Hundred And Thirty-Two: I Am Your Mother, You Listen To Me.

Marilyn walked into their bedroom after a busy day, spent with her dad spoiling Vanessa to the wits. The spoiled brazen child who had painted her black infront of her father, couldn’t stop laughing as if she won a lottery.

It hurts her deeply that her very own child has pushed her away, but rather would confide more on her grandfather, who was the master planner to what has happened to her. Yet, she didn’t see him in a different light, but she chose to blame her instead.

Marilyn knew that they didn’t have the best relationship, but what would you have her do when she didn’t feel loved in her own house? Her husband has been feeding her depressants to keep her unsteady, to handle the family business.

While he didn’t know that he was caught in the act by the cctv, he thinks he runs things around here. But everything she has endured, was all because she didn’t want to hurt Vanessa by separating with her father.

The young girl couldn’t take the depression, that came with living in the same house with her dead brother, and she was too hurt to the point that she knew that Vanessa being here with her in the city, wouldn’t be able to get her mind away from their loss.

So, she chose to keep her away, but the only thing her father could pay her back with was trying to kill her using drugs. Yet, he still had the guts to smile at her face.

Jason wasn’t present at the moment, he went to an important meeting with her father. She went into the sitting room to get a drink only to hear Vanessa laughing over the phone. She didn’t know who exactly it is that made her happy, but she’s thankful for that.

But when she remembered her act this morning, and ofcourse her bodyguard, Miguel. She forgot about her drinking her heart out tonight, and went in front of her making her presence known to the young girl.

"We need to talk." She told her, not too loud for her friend on the other side of the phone to know that they were about to have any issues.

But rather than Vanessa to give her mother that needed respect, by cutting her conversation and give her a listening ear. She proved to her that she’s not scared of her, nor was she ready to hear what she wanted to talk to her about. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

She put her phone on hold, before turning to her mother with a serious look on her face." I have nothing to talk to you about." She knew what she was going to say, but today was too good to end the happy mood by hearing her talk about her attitude in the morning.

Besides she deserves what she did to her, maybe that would make her step up in her motherly duties towards her, and realize that she’s not adopted but her own child too.

Marilyn scoffed at her actions, before she yanked the phone out of her grip and slammed it to the wall, breaking the devices into pieces.

"What’s wrong with you?" Vanessa yelled, in anger. She stood up this time to face Marilyn, who wasn’t surprised at the attitude she was displaying.

She grabbed her jaw into her hands, before bringing her face further to meet hers." You will learn how to talk to me, young lady. I am your mother." She reminded her.

But Vanessa pushed her hands away from her face, she felt the pain in her jaw where she touched her. Had she been going to the gym? Her hands are strong, like really strong.

"Says the woman who shut me out for years, and when she’s done weeping about her favorite child. She realizes that there’s another child she has, but unfortunately, that’s not her favorite child right? I’m not Adrik!"

"You will say nothing of him, Vanessa. Serve your brother the respect he deserves, and stop whining like a bitch. You are being dramatic." Marilyn warned her, the last thing she needed was her confessing her mistakes in front of her, she didn’t need a perfectionist like her to tell her what she did right or wrong.

Before she could say anything else, she saw that the young girl was already crying." If i was the one who’s dead instead of Adrik, would you weep for me the same way you did for him?"

"Vanessa, what sort of gibberish is that, you ain’t dying okay. You are here with me, nothing is going to happen to you." Marilyn’s tone softened when she saw how this was going. At this moment, it was as if her eyes opened and she could see the preferential treatment she has between the two, even without Vanessa talking about him.

"Don’t touch me." Vanessa flinched away from her touch." It took you five years and months, and yet nothing had changed. You wouldn’t even stop crying even if i told you that he’s not dead, you cry every second and.."

"Wh..what do you mean he’s not dead, Vanessa?" Marilyn looked at her, with desperate eyes in hope that what she’s saying was the truth.

Vanessa sighed, she didn’t want to tell her this since she’s still unsure about the reason why Adrik hasn’t appeared to her too.

But she knew that if she told her mother about this, then it would get worse. The silent treatment would be worse and she would forget about her totally. So, what’s the use of letting her know that Adrik was still alive somewhere?

It wouldn’t benefit her.

"It’s n..nothing." she said, cleaning her eyes with the back of her palm, while she turned to leave but Marilyn wasn’t taking her words for it.

"Vanessa, you have to tell me the truth. Do you see him in your dreams?" She needed an answer.

She hasn’t dreamt of him these past five years, and she had concluded that Lucifer was doing a good job by keeping her away from him. Even in her dreams, but Vanessa?

It’s different with her.

"I need to know, Vanessa. Have you seen him? Is he okay? Does he call for me?’She blurted out in a desperate way that made Vanessa wonder if she hadn’t gone mad.

While Vanessa looked at her, she felt jealous. Right now she was acting crazy even before she made a valid talk about Adrik.

"Tell me!"

"I..." she started, while looking at the tears running down her mother’s face. But that didn’t change her mind one bit, instead she yanked her hand away from her own, before saying." He knew better not to appear in the dreams of someone who hates him."

With that being said she left her mother after picking up the remnants of what was left of her phone, before leaving for her room but not without hearing her mother’s tears all over again.

It was the same cycle every day, she cries but not because of her. Because of Adrik, who she prayed, he doesn’t show his face here anymore.
