Narika: The Ghost Bride-Chapter 118 - One Hundred And Eighteen: He Doesn’t Know The Definition Of Happiness Anymore.
"Finally. The prodigal son returns." Dagan teases Adrik, when he returns back to hell and follows through the hall where his siblings made themselves busy partying. Everyone was present, everyone...well except Lucifer and of course the elder brother who tried to take Narika away from him.
Adrik could say that he hasn’t seen him since after their fight, and he cared less if he was breathing or not. Afterall, he’s a demon. Lucifer would know what to do with his soul if he died. Adrik wondered if he was also involved in their fathers wicked plans towards Narika.
But the part where he tried to mark her still lived rent free in his head, so it didn’t align with his suspicions about him working with Lucifer. Everything still felt new to Adrik, the prophecy and he turning out to be a royal prince of hell. Well, half breed, but a prince was still a prince anyway.
Adrik has questions that need answers, it still doesn’t make any sense to him that out of his father’s sons, who were more likely to do his bidding weren’t chosen for this said prophecy. But rather, the mantle to save their kingdom fell on him. A half demon breed who isn’t a tad bit interested in whatever that has to do with them all.
He sent a glance at Dagan’s way, and smirked when he saw how his face fell when he did nothing to react towards his words. If there’s anything that he had figured out about him. That would be the envious spirit he possessed, but that was what he was. The prince of Envy. But maybe he should envy someone who is going to give him the attention he wants.
Ever since he arrived here, apart from the other twins who don’t look like he talked, what was his name again? Ramiel. Dagan was the only person who was getting on his nerves. Azazel and his lust for his sister didn’t bother him at all.
"Bitch!" Dagan cursed under his breath before locking lips with the whore in his lap, before watching Adrik leave the hall insearch of their father.
There was no need to waste anymore time trying to wait for his father, come up with a plan on how exactly they were going to get Narika out of Crystal palace. So, Adrik made his way to his quarter. He felt a presence following him but he cared less about who it was, since he had far more interesting things to do than to meddle with an angry demon that has a score to settle with him.
He saw the guards standing outside of Lucifer’s room, and noticed the way they flinched upon seeing him. But they still coordinated themselves and paid their respect to him.
"He’s not in?" Adrian came out of Lucifer’s room to ask the guards, who shrugged their shoulders at his answer. Adrik didn’t know if they were lying or not, but he ignored their ride asses and walked into his room with anger and slammed his door in anger.
He couldn’t rest.
How could he?
It’s only been six hours since he has last seen Narika, and in those six hours he felt incomplete . Empty was the right word to use for how deeply concerned he was, about what sort of punishment she was serving right there.
She’s an enemy.
A witch. Baram’s descendant. That only condemned her in the eyes of the Overruler, who he didn’t even have any idea if he would be merciful enough to spare Narika’s soul, so that she could reincarnate once again if she gets killed before he comes there.
"No negative comments, Adrik. No negative comments." Adrik muttered to himself, his hands running down his face before he left out a frustrated sigh until he heard some shuffling around him, and turned instantly with his hand to hurt the intruder, who was here with him only to meet an all too familiar face.
"Tagon." Adrik called, his face morphed into confusion until he remembered that he had left weeks ago to work in Hell. That only means that he was working for Lucifer.
At the idea of this, Adrik was forced to start questioning the relationship. What if Tagon wsa all long but a spy for his father, so that he could keep an eye on him?
"It’s nice to see you again, Lord Adrik." Tagon said, paying his respects to him while Adrik scoffed at his endearments for him. Does he deserve that title when he couldn’t protect the only thing he loved?
He was no Lord, he’s nothing but a sin. A mistake that shouldn’t have existed because he had no heart to hurt Narika. That would only turn him out to be a monster like his father.
He had used both families, the Ivanovs and the Singh’s just because of him. Just because his mother slept with a vile creature like him.
"You were working for him." Adrik spat in anger. As he looked right at Tagon’s face that didn’t give any sign to show that he was lying. The images of his life with him flashed right through his face, and he remembered what sort of person Tagon was to him.
No matter how bad he had treated him, the motherfucker stayed until after Narika came into the future. That means his mission was complete.
"I was a fool not to see the signs." Adrian chuckled to himself, he smiled at how easily convinced he was that anyone he met was a good person. It didn’t matter what he had passed through, he saw people in different light. He had the heart of his mother, the purest heart to grace humanity until Lucifer happened."You were playing spy for him, and i thought of you as a friend."
"I considered you a friend too, that’s why i’m here to..." Tagon tried to speak, but he had forgotten so soon how hot tempered Adrik was.
"Really?" He scoffed at his words." Because i’m really sure that just like my family, you won’t reject any request to kill me because i’m not the rightful prince to do what the prophecy says."
"Adrik that’s..."
"Admit it, Tagon." He cut into his words again.
"Admit what?" Tagon asked angrily. " Yes i was not a ghost, I was working for your father but Adrik i considered you as a friend not more like a job that i had to pay off."
"Oh! Please quit acting. Everyone can’t stand my annoying ass, and you are a living proof of that. You left.."
"Because i had far more important things to do, like preparing for your stay here, my prince." Tagon stepped a foot closer, but stopped when he saw his right hand ignite a flame around it. Now that doesn’t look like the Adrik he knew. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Do not talk to me as if i have some sort of loyalty towards you, you are just like the rest of them. You used me just like Lucifer did."Adrik confessed bitterly.
"Adrik, listen..."
"Get out. Don’t appear in front of me if you love your life, Tagon. From today onwards, we mean nothing to each other. The moment you overstep your given right as a worker here for Lucifer, I would shred your limbs apart and saw your heart from the rest of your body. Trust me, you don’t want to push me to prove what i can do. Now leave!" Adrik shouted, his room vibrated at the sound of his voice and without wasting any more time Tagon gave him the space he wanted, while he dwelled in self-pity and loneliness about how cruel life was to him.
He doesn’t know the definition of happiness anymore, because he had been hurt by people who he thinks got him only to realize he was nothing but a fool.
