With each passing seconds that passed by, Vanessa’s anxiety for the birthday party risened up. Also, the kiss that she shared with Miguel in the morning, hasn’t left her mind.
He left her without dropping a word.
He didn’t look at her, nor did she see his reaction after what she had done. But, he just left as if nothing happened. It made her wonder if she hasn’t made things worse than it is between them.
He was just a bodyguard of her father, and her father is going to kill her once he knows about what happened. He wouldn’t want to know whether it was her that made the first move or not. Miguel has crossed that boundary with her.
Yet, she wasn’t worried about her dad’s reaction to this. She was more worried about what Miguel would say when he’s done serving her the silent treatment.
Even while her governess had walked in her stylist, and makeup artist as the evening drew nearer, and time was ticking with each seconds that passed.
She wasn’t able to eat lunch because she knew that she’s going to vomit . She didn’t like this. Whatever feeling she was having about today. Her mind was giving her the initiative that something was going to happen, and it’s because of her.
But this was all because of Miguel, maybe if he had given her the reaction she needed after that kiss. It would give her the strength to face ahead this day that waited for her.
But the young lady knew that whatever she thought was going to happen wouldn’t happen. Miguel would never be able to look at her the way a man would look at his woman. Clearly, looking at him he was way older than her, and that’s a very important condition.
Miguel was already treating her like a child, so who knows? He’s only going to treat her like the child that was put in his care. But yet why does it hurt?
Since when did she start thinking of him this way?
Vanessa couldn’t exactly pinpoint when exactly she started having feelings for him, it just happened. It hurt her that she’s going out tonight to see another man who she has no feelings for, and there’s a high possibility that she’s going to get married to the president’s son.
Maybe..
Just maybe if she told her father that she has someone else, he would convince her mother to stop her from going to the party this evening?
She just had to try.
So, she stood up from the chair she was staying in before wearing her robe, after taking her bath so that the makeup artist could start her work.
"Vanessa, what’s going on?" Governess Jane asked, as she looked up from where she sat to see Vanessa trying to make her way out of her room.
"I have to see father." She said and with that, rushed out of her room and climbed the stairs to where her father’s study was, that was the only place she knew he would be by this time of the evening.
Luckily, he had no guest so she knocked and didn’t wait for him to permit her in before she entered inside the room to see Miguel, discussing something with her father.
Her eyes widened when their eyes connected. She hoped that he hadn’t done anything like reporting her actions to her dad.
"Sweetheart, what are you doing here? You should be getting ready for the party." Jason asked her, confirming her suspicions that Miguel hasn’t told him anything about what she did.
She felt nervous under Miguel’s intense stare at her. Also, she didn’t know how her father would react to what she’s about to say, but she has no other option than to lie.
"I...um.. have something to tell you." She said coming closer, as her father stood up from his seat to come closer too to her.
"Please don’t tell me that this is about the party. Vanessa, we have been through this for weeks now, it would do you no good to try changing my mind right now."
Jason warned her. It was a warning she should have taken seriously. Her father has not been this serious about something, just like he was about making Alex pay for what he did to Adrik.
She looked lastly at Miguel, there was something in his eyes that made her wonder if he was begging her to keep quiet and do what was ordered of her, or if she should fight her way out.
"Father, I have being wanting to tell you this about a while ago....I.." She said, almost choking on her words.
"What is it?" Jason urged her to speak on, he looked at his wrist watch to see that it was getting closer to the time that she leaves for the party.
The president’s son has promised to send a car for her, but he couldn’t trust their security. This was why he had Miguel in his office, as he was telling him about the need to go with Vanessa to the party, as there was a huge chance that Alex’s second son would be there.
The last thing he would need was losing another of his children, because of the silly excuse that they were in love with each other. Adrik was a mistake that he can’t risk making twice.
"I’m in love with another man." Vanessa confessed, she could swear she saw the way Miguel held in his breath at her confession.
"Vanessa.." Jason started to talk, but Vanessa grabbed his hands.
"You had a chance at love with mother, are you going to deny me the chance of experiencing that?"She said softly, her voice breaking down while she hoped that she sounded convincing.
She saw the flash of something in her father’s eyes, until he shakes his head and stepped back away from her.
"Father please.."
"You are going to the party Vanessa, Miguel take her out of here!" Jason roared, as Vanessa cried but Miguel took her hand into his own while escorting back into her help hound, so she could leave to see the man who’s going to take her away from the man she claimed she loved.
He only wondered who exactly was that man because he knew that it’s surely not him.
