Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory-Chapter 236: It looks like our luck’s run out
Chapter 236: It looks like our luck’s run out
Blackwake Isle — a tiny, unremarkable speck of land sitting right on the border between the Storm Kingdom and the Gemspire Kingdom.
But don’t let its size fool you. The waters surrounding Blackwake Isle are some of the deadliest in the entire world.
Out here, the ocean is crawling with vicious deep-sea beasts, wild roaming war units, and hidden whirlpools that could tear even the strongest ships apart. We’re talking about creatures and forces so powerful, they could flip and destroy Tier 2 warships — ships that are practically on par with Legendary Units.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, the area is often shrouded in patches of magical mist...
In the world of Glory Lords X, magical mist zones usually fall into two categories:
First, there are the large, fixed mist zones. These cover huge areas and come with two major problems: they block your vision and slap a debuff on you that cuts down your combat effectiveness by a set percentage.
What does that mean in plain English? Basically, it’s like getting hit with a "weakened" status effect. If you could normally fight at 100% strength, inside these mist zones, you’re lucky to be operating at 80%.
Then there’s the second type — the random, small-scale mist zones that pop up within a fixed sea region.
Picture this: within a massive 10,000-nautical-mile area, small patches of mist — each about 300 to 500 nautical miles wide — randomly appear. They’re rare, maybe covering one-tenth or even one-fifteenth of the whole area at any given time.
Sounds manageable, right? Wrong.
These small mist zones are way more dangerous — at least ten times deadlier than the big ones.
Why?
Simple.
First off, these random mist patches bring with them brutal natural disasters — we’re talking about raging thunderstorms, tsunamis, deep-sea whirlpools, you name it.
And just like in the real world, natural disasters in Glory Lords X are no joke. In extreme cases, the sheer destructive force of these events can wipe out even 13-Tier Legendary Units.
Yeah, it’s that bad.
On top of that, the weakening effect inside these small mist zones is way harsher than in the big ones. If you’re only operating at 80% strength in a large mist zone, in a small one, you’re lucky to be fighting at 60%.
It’s like getting your power cut in half.
But the worst part?
The small mist zones can spawn — or attract — terrifying deep-sea monsters.
And when we say monsters, we’re not talking about your average sea creatures. These are the twisted, vengeful spirits of Legendary and Mythic Units — warriors and beasts that died in battle and fused into something even more horrifying.
In other words, every deep-sea beast or abyssal monster you run into out here is at least 13-Tier Legendary strength — and they’re completely mindless, insanely aggressive, and almost impossible to kill.
In short: if you find yourself drifting into one of these mist patches around Blackwake Isle... you’re in serious, serious trouble.
There aren’t many ways to truly kill those deep-sea beasts and abyssal monsters.
One method? Obliterate them completely — grind them into dust until there’s nothing left.
The other? Hit them with Tier 3 Light Magic — Purification. And not just once — you’d have to cast it multiple times to fully wipe them out.
Because of how tough they are to kill, over time, more and more of these monsters have piled up beneath the waves. The forbidden zones across the oceans have only gotten deadlier and more terrifying.
It’s the kind of place that practically screams: "Turn back. Enter at your own risk."
Even the most powerful nations think twice before sending forces into these waters — the risk of catastrophic losses is just too high.
Now, if we’re talking about individual strength, these deep-sea beasts and abyssal monsters aren’t exactly on par with real Legendary Units, let alone Mythic Units.
Hell, they’re not even as strong as Soul Sentinels — those creatures you find guarding wild Creature Dwellings, which usually have about half the strength of a living unit. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
These monsters? They’re running at maybe 30% of the power of a living Legendary or Mythic Unit. In a straight-up fight, even if you threw ten of them at a single real Legendary Unit, they might still lose.
But sometimes, numbers beat quality. If there are enough of these things swarming under the sea, even a Crimson Ultimate Hero would have no choice but to turn tail and run.
And that’s the real nightmare of these small, high-risk mist zones — getting in is easy. Getting out? That’s the hard part.
Thanks to the sheer number of deep-sea beasts lurking below, any ordinary purple-ranked Epic Hero, or any unit below 13-Tier Legendary, stepping into one of these zones is basically signing their own death warrant.
But even if you’re an orange-ranked Legendary Hero, or commanding 13-Tier Legendary Units, or even 14-Tier Mythic Units, the risk of losing them is just too damn high.
And that’s exactly why — even though both the Storm Kingdom and the Gemspire Kingdom know there’s some kind of dimensional rift hidden on Blackwake Isle, maybe even holding unimaginable secrets — neither of them has dared to make a serious move to explore it.
The danger just isn’t worth it.
...
A few days later, Ethan’s dark-gold Tier 2 warship cut through the churning waters, sailing straight into a grim, storm-wracked stretch of ocean — a place where thunderous tornadoes and raging storms tore across the blackened skies.
But right now, Ethan was staring at a scene so strange, so overwhelming, it almost didn’t feel real.
Their dark-gold Tier 2 warship was sailing through calm, crystal-clear waters under a bright, cloudless sky — not a hint of turbulence anywhere around them.
Yet just a mile or two ahead, it was like they were looking into another world entirely.
Up there, the sky was choked with thick, heavy storm clouds, blotting out the sun and plunging everything into a dim, eerie twilight.
Lightning crackled and danced through the clouds, roaring and snapping with deafening force. Blinding bolts tore down from the heavens, slamming into the ocean and sending up towering walls of water, turning the sea into a raging, frothing nightmare.
The whole area looked savage, chaotic, and deadly beyond belief.
And within that violent, storm-wracked stretch of ocean, Ethan could make out massive tornadoes — thick as dragons — twisting and tearing across the waves. Countless deep-sea whirlpools spun at terrifying speeds, and lurking beneath the surface were dark, monstrous shadows — the unmistakable forms of deep-sea beasts and abyssal monsters.
"So this... this is one of those small-scale mist zones?" Ethan muttered, his face tightening, heart pounding a little faster.
No exaggeration — this was the first time he’d ever seen a place that screamed danger this loudly.
"Lord Ethan, sir... it looks like our luck’s run out," came a trembling voice beside him.
It was Corvan, the Storm Kingdom hero they’d captured. The guy was practically shaking in his boots, his face ghost-white, eyes wide with pure terror.
"This is the only route to Blackwake Isle," Corvan stammered, voice cracking, "but now... now it’s been swallowed up by a random mist zone. It’s too dangerous — we can’t go through!"
You didn’t need to be a genius to see it — Corvan was scared out of his mind.
And honestly? Who could blame him?
This wasn’t just some rough patch of sea.
This was the kind of place where you went in... and never came back out.
