Chapter 82: W-What?! ARE YOU CRAZY?!!

Catharina’s sudden attack, and the ruthless deaths of the remaining monkeys originating from the first wave, brought forth a chilling silence to the battlefield. It was a short moment, a calm before an incoming storm of chaos.

’That power?!’ Bolan’s eyes abruptly widened when he saw the massive golden palm. What followed thereafter, caused his eyelids to twitch as he clicked his tongue, internally exclaiming: ’That certainly breaches the boundary of the second world!’

Nodding his head, his eyes lit up: ’As expected of an Otherworldly Knight’s gift.’ As his thoughts reached here, a subtle smirk appeared on his face as he took in the battlefield.

The one-winged monkeys were momentarily stunned, and so were Anon and Seth, who were the closest to them, and even Jacob had come to a halt after seeing that. For a very small amount of time, all the powerful entities were too surprised to act.

’A pity, a real pity.’ Bolan shook his head: ’The firepower of an attacking item like that necklace can indeed propel her strength into the second world, and yet...’

Anon’s figure appeared in his vision: ’The item master gave me, isn’t even slightly attacking.’

Thrum!

In fact, of the fourteen stellar geniuses facing the one-winged monkey horde, there were eight inheritors, and the remaining six, five of them originated from Blackridge.

Jacob was the only genius with no direct relation to any other genius in the group, but there was one among them who was related to both sides.

Bolan did indeed originate from Blackridge, but the other eight inheritors were similarly from eight different districts.

’Master, no, old man Blackridge, fuck you!’ Bolan gritted his teeth and cursed his master internally. Over the course of his life, he had frequently cursed his master, inwardly, of course.

Even if he was to be a great distance away from his master, a distance that may even cross hundreds or thousands of miles, he was not daring enough to outwardly curse his master’s name.

He, Bolan, was the inheritor of the Otherworldly Knight, Blackridge!

And it was through him that the other inheritors could even locate Anon’s group. The means of these inheritors weren’t to be underestimated.

’Maybe it was the gathering of so many stellar fighters which drew this amount of one-winged monkeys.’ Bolan summarized internally.

Aaooh! Aaooh!

At the same time, the one-winged monkeys burned with rage, showing this through their deafening bellows. Yet, Bolan’s expression didn’t change as Anon and Seth simultaneously reacted, making their moves.

The blinding light originating from Anon, combined with the chilling aura of a blood river descending from the skies, caused Bolan to unconsciously tremble.

’Not regrettable at all,’ He thought: ’The only pity was that I did not have enough time to persuade the other inheritors.’

After all, there were thirty-six districts in the core city.

Naturally, this semester didn’t have thirty-six inheritors entering the academy, but there was still enough that, when coupled with the items given to them by their masters, could see Bolan achieve what he desired.

’Arrogance.’

Bolan’s expression was dark as he observed Jacob moving through the air and appearing before the gathering of one-winged monkeys, alongside Anon and Seth.

All three attacked in unison.

’Do they believe that they’re more talented than these three? Than Anon, an orphan who has breached the boundary of the second world before any of us? Us who’re the inheritors of Otherworldly Knights? Us who were assisted by Otherworldly Knights?’

Bolan thought that, if they were surpassed in the beginning of cultivation, when they had all the help anyone could ask for, whilst Anon had none, what would happen if Anon finally began being assisted in his ascendancy thanks to the academy?

He’d absolutely leave them in the dust.

’A prodigy unlike any other.’

Bolan thought that such a title was only fitting for himself.

No one else!

And he was willing to do anything to make sure of that.

Hence: ’Using the inheritors to eliminate Anon was the safest bet, but from the beginning, it had flaws.’

By this time, Bolan had already appeared in the mix of the battle.

This battle...

The three who reached before him had each attracted multiple one-winged monkeys.

Though these beasts previously sought to fight in a one versus one competition, in their crazed states, they cared little for fun, only wanting to rip their adversaries to shreds.

But with the three second world geniuses working in unison, even in the face of several one-winged monkeys, the confrontation was at a stalemate.

At the same time, appearing unafraid of being caught in the crossfire, Bolan appeared amidst chaos, drawing a one-winged monkey, with the rest being focused on the incoming group that included Andrew and Felix.

In that group, Catharina along with the inheritors radiated auras filled with mystery, grasping the attention of the one-winged monkeys.

Toward the group of beasts, Bolan appeared ordinary.

In fact, due to the sudden power surge amongst the group of geniuses, even to them, Bolan, along with Andrew and Felix, appeared more ordinary than before.

Even in the first wave, where Bolan and Felix worked together to confront the one-winged monkey hordes, though they weren’t in perilous situations, they weren’t exactly dominating their battles either.

But Bolan, toward this one-winged monkey, was unfazed.

’My peers, especially those given single-use magical items by their masters, are obviously unwilling to use said items, just to eliminate a single genius. Arrogance!’

Bolan wielded his single dark blade as he launched toward the one-winged monkey. Though it lifted into the air, he appeared to step onto an invisible fleet of steps, chasing it into the sky.

At the same time, many thoughts swirled in his head: ’Then, there are those inheritors who don’t even place Anon in their eyes. Arrogance!’

A strange blackness coated Bolan’s blade, making it so that the blade of his saber appeared to consume light itself. At this time, he seemed to be holding an intangible blackness as he slashed out at the one-winged monkey.

Though its wing twisted around its body and collided with the blackness, said darkness phased through the one-winged monkey’s wing, and then solidified just before its neck.

Blood was instantly spilled...

Although it was able to react just quicky enough to save its life, there was still a wound on its neck.

’But there is a saying that stellar fighters who have principles related to darkness are scheming bastards.’ Bolan snickered inside, yet his outward appearance was as neutral as ever: ’At the very least, I am very prepared in the event that my lovely peers failed to kill Anon.’

As the beast descended from the sky, he rushed downwards in pursuit whilst his thoughts churned: ’A little luck is required, but everything is as prepared as can be. Master’s gift to me, its usage isn’t to end a life, but to save one.’

The one-winged monkey had evaded his attack just barely. But the instance it made contact with the earth, unsuspectingly, it had burst forth with tremendous strength that caught Bolan off-guard.

Beyond what it previously revealed, the speed at which it moved caused Bolan’s eyes to widen as he placed his blade between himself and the incoming one-winged monkey.

Obviously, it was in its solidified state.

At least, that would’ve been the logical next course of action. And yet, like the intangible concept of darkness, as the one-winged monkey attacked Bolan, its entirety passed through unobstructed by the blade, colliding into Bolan, and sending him hurling away.

Though a mouthful of blood rushed up his throat, there was a bloody grin plastered on his face.

The muscles beneath his skin seemingly spasmed and twitched uncontrollably.

Originating from the one-winged monkey, a powerful force crashed into him, picking up his fleshy body and flinging it a mighty distance away.

Unknowingly, or knowingly, the direction in which he approached was, in actuality, a very chaotic region. With the strength Bolan had revealed to this point, he was bound to die there.

And yet, using the moment from the one-winged monkey’s attack, Bolan willingly rocketed through the air, and towards that region.

Though the three stellar geniuses sensed this, Seth was uncaring, Jacob was focused on his own situation as he confronted multiple one-winged monkeys, and Anon mused inwardly.

Even if Bolan’s strength wasn’t the highest, using the two inheritors that had escaped as an example, even the weaker stellar fighters had their uses. For a moment, Anon pondered on whether it made sense to attempt saving him.

But it was only for a moment as he shifted his focus back to the monkey group that he confronted alongside the other two second world geniuses.

His eyes shone brightly as a golden aura encompassed the entire region. Invisible, there appeared to be hands that manipulated this battle, helping the trio subtly.

His staff maneuvered through the air like a fish in water, sometimes jumping out of the water and stabbing out at the beasts. His staff appeared illusory at times, as if it phased in and out of the physical world, and at other times, adopted the traits of animalistic creatures, like the slithery body of a snake, or the speed of a peregrine.

Verily, under the threat of death, Anon had completed the puzzle, and finally, achieved mastery over the staff!

But at this time...

An intangible blade of darkness rushed towards him.

It was sudden, and more importantly, shocking!

Why?

Though Bolan had appeared in the region, he was still more than sixty feet away from the group of second world entities and beast commanders.

And yet, akin to plasticine, his right arm, wielding the blade, stretched across twenty meters!

Bolan’s right arm...

Indeed, his blade stabbed out, crossing the distance separating him and Anon.

Towards this unexpected event, Anon was caught by surprise, completely unprepared. Before he could react, a stinging sensation originating from his chest caught his attention.

The golden aura that encompassed the region was akin to a flickering light bulb as it slowly dimmed away.

Looking down, a dark blade had pierced through his chest.

Slowly, his hand attempted to grip said blade, but only passed through.

"W-What?! A-! Bolan! Are you crazy!!!"

Jacob’s thunderous voice reverberated through the sky, bringing Anon’s attention away from the sword that pierced his chest.

Yet, he didn’t turn toward Jacob, nor Bolan, but instead, stared wide-eyed toward the one-winged monkeys.

Filled with rage, Jacob rushed towards Bolan, but quick to react to this strange situation, the one-winged monkeys rushed towards a greatly weakened Anon.

An Anon with blood spilling out of his chest...

An Anon that was unable to react...

An Anon too weak to react!
