Chapter 203: Dark Armor

The white-haired daemon stood in mid-air, observing his right palm. On it was a light gash that oozed the black-colored blood of a daemon.

Traces of crackling energies prevented it from healing. These energies contained the properties he had already perceived in the white lightning.

However, this gash had originated when he confronted Anon’s black lightning. So, it was clear to him what this human was attempting.

"Merging two peerless techniques..." The daemon mused. Its words came to a halt; however, it clearly did not believe that Anon could actually succeed.

Indeed, he had reached the initial state, commendable, but who knew how long it had taken for him to achieve this? The daemon grinned from ear to ear, finding Anon’s attempts almost laughable.

On the other hand, having finally grasped the initial gist of this concept, before Anon’s piercing golden eyes, there were no more mysteries.

To perfectly merge the overwhelming might of the black lightning, with the unprecedented speed of the white lightning...

It was the first time since devouring wraiths that he had found his comprehension lacking. It did not take him a couple of attempts to master it.

Anon smiled meaningfully. Though his figure was shriveled up like a dried corpse, he still stood in the air calmly.

His hair was still black, and his golden eyes were still burning vigorously. Outside of his physique, he did not appear to be suffering from any ailments.

However, the wounds littered across his body had all turned black and green. Dark energies continuously worsened them, attempting to sicken him to death.

Finally, Anon sighed.

The dark energies were forcefully dispersed by a similar energy. The residue of his curse magic gave birth to a foreboding aura that shrouded his figure.

"You hid it well." The daemon frowned. It did not expect that Anon was at a comparable level in curse magic; however, it was not particularly worried.

If Anon’s curse magic were only at this level, at most, the two would cancel each other out. At the same time, Anon had no other means.

Or was he going to jump from an immature level to fully mastering the merger of the black and white lightnings?

Right after the daemon thought this, Anon unknowingly answered its thoughts.

He stepped toward the daemon without fear. The longsword trembled violently whilst being dragged by him.

As the longsword moved through the air, rather than lightning, what was left behind were unreadable characters radiating an ancient aura.

Black and white intertwined, seamlessly etching these characters into space. They radiated endless might, overwhelming power, and hummed with incomprehensible majesty.

A blinding light enveloped the world, and even the daemon was blinded by an overwhelming brightness for a period of time.

Following this brightness was an air of death. Mortal death chased desperately, attempting to keep up with this light.

The absolute destruction that came with death followed desperately as well.

Toward Anon’s sword strike, the white-haired daemon had little resistance. His figure was obliterated before the longsword had made contact with him.

Unlike before, the brightness had covered the entire battle cloud. There was not even a spec of darkness that could be used as an anchor point to assist the daemon’s teleportation.

Anon did not know for certain whether this was the crucial point in the daemon’s teleportation ability; however, intuition and battle sense hinted at this.

As the brightness faded away and the battle cloud regained its former image, Anon stood in the air with the dark grimoire floating behind his head.

Unlike before, an ancient character now hovered above his head, radiating a luminous light that cascaded over his entire form.

This glow enveloped his body, even extending beneath the soles of his feet.

’The daemon should not have been that weak, right?’

Anon observed the battle cloud, alert.

Naturally, since this was his first battle at the ancestor level, even if he was confident in this killer move, he also needed to be cautious of the other ancestors.

And indeed, a dark cloud had unknowingly manifested at some time. This cloud of darkness exploded, converting the entire battle cloud into a field of dark aura.

Enveloped in brilliant light, Anon was completely unaffected. He patiently observed as the dark aura slowly receded and concentrated in one area of the battle cloud.

In this spot, a humanoid figure cloaked in darkness slowly took shape.

A vibrant hum resounded throughout the ancestor cloud battlefield, and the humanoid figure that absorbed the dark aura across the battle cloud accelerated its manifestation.

Anon thought of attacking whilst the enemy powered up; however, he hesitated for a second, and indeed, a change occurred in that very moment.

The dark aura that ran rampant across the battlefield crystallized before shattering into shining fragments with a dark gleam.

These fragments teleported across the battlefield before imitating a storm of swirling, obsidian metallic shards.

Within the eye of this storm, a headless humanoid form of darkness outstretched its arms as if to embrace the world.

The dark fragments began clicking into place. Each time two shards clicked in place, a tremor shot across the battlefield, and when four pieces intersected, Anon’s heart thumped with trepidation.

Anon slowly descended onto the battle cloud.

’This form...’ He mused. An unknown light flashed through his eyes.

As his feet landed onto the emerald cloud, the daemon stepped out of the storm, clad in armor that gleamed darkly.

The dark fragments continued to combine, forming a sword longer than three meters, and yet, had a width even smaller than four centimeters.

"Is this your true form?"

Anon observed the daemon’s body and couldn’t help but ask.

The humanoid figure, clad in armor forged from darkness, lacked a head. Instead, a disc-shaped void, encircled by a ring, hovered above its shoulders, resembling a black hole suspended in the air.

From this, Anon perceived an immense amount of true magic.

Even if restrained, the sheer amount of power within could not be fully concealed. What residual magical force that escaped, contorted light, and even attempted to devour the concept... 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

This form did not speak!

Anon’s answer came in the form of a blade longer than three meters, and forged out of crystalized darkness.

Darkness naturally interacted with light.

Anon’s sword soul burst out of his longsword. The blade of five meters in length followed the manifestation of his sword soul, ready to strike, whilst the daemon dealt with the sword soul.

The sword soul cleaved through space, cutting the distance between the duo, which was replicated by the longsword, and the blade forged from darkness.

Thereafter, everything was severed.

The sword soul passed through the blade and through the armor of darkness, continuing its path toward the edge of the battle cloud before dissipating by the world’s forces beyond.

At the same time, the darkness blade met with the longsword. The collision did not bring about changes initially, and the two forces were caught in a stalemate.

From the clash, a sharp ripple rushed across the battle cloud, leaving behind a severed space that desperately attempted to heal itself.

However, even in the trail of this sharp ripple, even in the severed space, two opposing forces, darkness and light, continuously clashed against each other, tearing space even more.

"Oh?" The daemon’s voice suddenly pierced through the chaos. It was a voice that actually revealed a hint of amusement, "So this light can make contact with my darkness...?"

Upon saying so, both he and Anon retreated to opposing edges of the battle clouds.

"You could speak?" Anon clicked his tongue and frowned. ’So this daemon was intentionally ignoring me? The young lord of humanity?’

The daemon appeared to’ve perceived Anon’s thoughts and released a dark laughter.

"Usually, after this form appears, enemies aren’t able to touch me, much less harm me, and they die not long after. There is no need to speak to the dead, or is there?"

Hearing such logic, Anon could not refute.

"There isn’t."

Saying so, Anon slashed his longsword dozens of times in but an instant. Over a hundred streaks of sword soul escaped his blade.

Each manifestation of his sword soul bore ancient characters etched across its surface, and a faint crackling of thunder resonated from within its form.

"You do not understand..."

The daemon’s voice trailed; however, it did not move, nor did its darkness blade move. It remained still, seemingly accepting whatever fate Anon’s sword soul decreed.

Yet, dozens of manifestations of Anon’s sword soul, crackling with thunderous power that intertwined black and white lightning, simply passed through its physical body, unable to affect the daemon in any way.

Like the first manifestation of sword soul, they dissipated upon leaving the battle cloud.

"Let me explain..." The daemon embraced the world with open arms.

It began revealing emotions that it had suppressed throughout the entire battle.

"This dark armor, my current form, is completely impervious to physical attacks. You so wish to destroy my body, to slay me? Impossible! It is impossible!"

’Daemon’s truly suffer from the seven deadly sins, huh. Though he attempted to suppress it during the entire battle, he still failed in the climax.’ Anon thought this and shook his head.

Indeed, to explain the advantages of one’s abilities is a very superficial way to decrease the enemy’s morale.

It was much better to keep the enemy guessing and stun them with absolute trepidation and confusion upon realizing how futile their attacks are.

’Now that you’ve revealed the advantage, haven’t you unconsciously revealed the path to defeating you as well?’

Anon sighed once more.

’And even worse...’ Thinking this, he closed the distance between himself and the daemon.

Perceiving Anon’s longsword, the daemon’s darkness blade intercepted its path.

Anon chuckled upon confirming a secondary road that also led to victory.

"Impervious to physical attacks? Then why block my sword?"
