Myriad Devils-Chapter 167: Hatred and will intertwine
’The approach I’ve used previously was clearly influenced by the wraiths as well. The subconscious feeling...’ Anon mused.
Squatting down, Anon assumed a lotus position on the wet dirt and closed his eyes. He thought of the feeling when the so-called purest incarnation had spoken.
When he replayed that voice in his mind, Anon immediately felt it.
The golden light shone in the depths of his eyes and a deep seated hatred blossomed. For a moment, there was a trace of absolute clarity.
’This is it!’ Anon inwardly exclaimed.
That voice was familiar, too familiar. He knew it, however every time he tried to find the reason, it easily slipped his thoughts.
But this was proof enough.
’Seth...’ Anon almost unhesitatingly blamed that crimson eyed devil. When he thought of that name, the golden light shone once more, and the hatred deepened ever more.
Whenever in doubt, blame Seth.
Anon found it.
He had found his way out of this mess.
’Truly... an eternal hatred,’ Anon chuckled. In front of that holy father, the familiarity in his voice allowed Anon to momentarily escape the influence of the wraiths.
It was just a flash, however it was enough.
Using this vine, Anon sat in meditation and waited.
He did not stop thinking of Seth.
All types of thoughts...
A myriad of ways to murder someone.
’I wonder, is it fair to hate someone like this? It’s almost forced.’ Anon shook his head. At times, that devil was indeed insufferable.
However, he found that this hate was simply too forced.
Even back then, he ate Bolan alive due to the hate he felt, however it still could not compare to what he felt towards Seth.
At the time, he even said that, due to his inability, he was forced to hate Bolan even more because what he could do to the almost unkillable Bolan, he was simply unable to do the same to Seth.
But as for the origin of this hate?
Though the little devil had offended him in some occasions, it did not really justify these emotions.
It has been written like so, hence he could not change that.
Anon sighed.
It’s simply two individuals that can’t see eye to eye. Inevitable enemies...
At the same time, Anon’s ears twitched as the sound of footsteps appeared in his range of hearing.
Different from before, he did not move towards these individuals. As they approached him, and questioned, he did not reply.
Even as they struck, Anon visualized the devil, and used hatred to resist temptation.
The subconscious sensation to evade, and the throbbing in his head beckoning him to strike back, to kill, to slaughter and massacre...
Anon made use of this hatred to resist all foreign desires.
For the most part, these natives utilized the staff. More than one staff flashed through the air, with afterimages that appeared real, forming a wall made out of staves.
As they landed against Anon’s body, he unconsciously braced for a powerful momentum...
Boom!
Against his powerful body, these staves were no different from eggs lashing out against a massive boulder.
Anon opened his eyes wide, understanding dawning onto him in that moment.
At the same time, the intense desire to strike back caused the throbbing in his head to dramatically increase.
Ugh...
Anon grimaced slightly, but his stiff expressions revealed indifference alone.
Whilst staff upon staff struck against his body, Anon’s mind was filled with hate as he multitasked.
Visualizing the purest incarnation that spoke with such a familiar voice, Anon also began actively refining.
Yet still, even though he had finally realized that using his very own intense emotions to combat the influence of these wraiths was the path to regaining clarity, the corruption had simply seeped to deeply into his will.
The many crimson stars in his mind realm pulsed with ripples of deep influence that resonated with the sun star which now glowed with a faint red hue.
The ripples of influence on his will manifested as dark whispers that caused his blood to crawl and shivers to trickle down his spine.
The number of natives that surrounded and attacked him had increased considerably. They lacked intelligence, and moved solely on instinct, attacking the foreigner, Anon.
This confirmed that they were indeed wraiths all this while.
Working in unison, these wraiths attacked, and the previous wraiths influenced, Anon’s body trembled under the combined efforts, and beads of sweat fell from his face.
His eyes were close shot, but deep within the sun star, in the third layer that was solidified, the core of this sun star began burning an empyrean gold aura!
The liquified essence which had become crimson in color heated up even more than before, and the most primal emotion fueled Anon’s will.
Empowered by an intense hatred, the sun star shone with a blinding dark gold that drowned the crimson hue.
The two auras intertwined and fought for dominance.
The dark gold aura, fueled by pure hatred was fundamentally overwhelming, but the crimson aura had too many sources.
The liquid layer, and the outer flames were both crimson and attempted to drown the dark gold core which burned with a renewed vigor.
On the sun star’s core, traces of crimson had etched itself for some time now, however Anon had relentlessly visualized Seth, and the familiar voice had caused hatred to culminate in his heart.
Such a hatred had transcended the timeline, originating from the future. It made no sense otherwise.
Such pure fuel caused the dark gold aura to increasingly grow hotter with the passage of time.
After all, with such logic for this hatred, it meant that as time passed, and Anon slowly manifested as that future self, he grew closer to the origin of such hatred.
So even though the crimson aura had many sources, as this fight for dominance drew out, the fuel for this dark gold aura only grew vaster.
The intensity of this dark gold aura only increased.
And the battle of dominance, stuck at a stalemate for what appeared to be an eternity, finally begun to shift as even more time flickered away.
Wisps of dark gold aura, like dancing tendrils, escaped Anon’s fleshy body.
The intense heat destabilized space and altered gravity in his surroundings. The attacking wraiths in the form of natives were not slaughtered, but instead faced the judgement of a purifying heat.
They were not massacred, but instead swallowed by a dark gold flame and were burnt to nothingness.
And as the external attacks ceased, the pressure from simultaneous attacks also eased, bringing an even quicker shift to the overall battle for dominance.
From the deepest layer of the sun star, the dark gold aura devoured the crimson energy, feeding off of this foreign force, and growing even more intense.
The mighty sun star spread out such a powerful aura that the dark world trembled and buzzed.
The dark space that encompassed the sun star warped and twisted, shattering and finally began producing an attractive force that pulled at the dozens upon dozens of crimson stars in the surroundings.
These crimson stars seemed to come to life and attempted to create a distance between the sun star and themselves, however the dark gold’s fuel endlessly grew in vastness, and its aura infinitely rose. The attractive force only intensified as time passed. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
There was no running away!
Anon exhaled a breath of turbulent, malevolent energy.
This crimson air continuously escaped his mouth and nostrils for several seconds before he took in a deep breath and exhaled even more malevolent air.
Endless whispers continuously poured into his ears whilst innumerable screams and wails banged against the walls of his mind, attempting to drive him to the brink of insanity.
Anon’s trembling body did not relax even now.
The corruption had seeped too deeply. Even as seconds turned to minutes, and minutes to hours, Anon’s fleshy body showed no signs of relaxing.
A puddle of sweat had built up under his seated frame, whilst the aura of dark gold that surrounded him caused bursts of golden flames to sometimes spark in the air.
The space surrounding him twisted and warped, shrouding his figure in obscurity.
In that short moment, he had indeed developed a will-type technique. As his hatred grew, so too did his willpower.
His determination to exterminate Seth continuously evolved, constantly sharpening his will like a whetstone used to sharpen a blade.
.....
Swallowed in silence, Anon opened his eyes.
His gaze was heavy.
Under such an immense gaze, the world before him continuously changed. Space folded and twisted, his will seemingly too heavy.
’Have I finally found it?’ Anon silently mused. ’More than simply devouring wraiths to evolve my soul which in turn nurtures my will, I’ve found a passive way to nurture my will.’
After all, devouring wraiths improved the soul on a fundamental level, hence why his comprehension also increased dramatically.
The improvement of his willpower, like his increased comprehension, was only a byproduct of his immensely evolved soul.
Now though, things changed.
’Can it be considered a visualizing technique? As my hate and determination deepens, it can even sharpen and refine my will. This kind of hatred isn’t normal, but since I can make use of it, there’s no reason to complain.’ Anon concluded.
Since experiencing what it was like to be influenced and led by the nose, Anon was naturally suspicious behind such an intense and almost nonsensical emotion.
However, it was this same emotion that had severed the influence those wraiths held over him.
Not only that, but upon continuously purifying the influence of the wraiths, and devouring so many wraiths, evolving his soul, whilst simultaneously sharpening his will, Anon’s willpower had underwent a type of metamorphosis.
