Myriad Devils-Chapter 159: The second wraith
For a moment, Anon was crouched over, but he soon straightened his back and looked toward the sky, his heart rapidly thumping in his chest. Any more violent, his heart would either explode, or burst through his chest.
As far as the eye could see, the world was painted in crimson blood, and looking at Anon, there was a gigantic face that covered more than sixty percent of the sky. Its eyes spanned thousands of kilometers, and were darker than ink. They attempted to swallow the world!
A blood-colored hue spilled over the world, giving it a crimson shade. Anon stood on a mountain peak, rivers of blood streaming down the mountain and joining the blood ocean that embraced this mountain’s foot.
Hands clasped behind his back, Anon’s eyes shone radiantly, betraying the fear welling up in his heart. Compared to his own, those eyes high above were unparalleled, containing endless power.
Anon appeared no different than an ant staring at a higher form of life.
Too low!
This face-like sky was of an existence tremendously above and beyond his conceptual level.
Anon’s body unconsciously trembled, however he bit his lip, causing blood to seep out, and a little jolt of pain to strike at his mind.
Hehe~
A slight chuckle escaped his lips.
Anon’s stiff body suddenly relaxed as he began observing his palms with intrigue, muttering under his breath, "Aren’t these my two palms? They’re still present, are they not!?"
Shifting his gaze, the world around him seemed to lose its intimidating luster, causing him to mumble with a tinge of amusement in his tone, "The world has not ended. I’m still standing, and my heart is thumping so rapidly. Doesn’t this mean that I’m alive, not dead!?"
Anon’s words fell, and the face in the sky became illusory.
He then commented, "Who is this? Definitely, it can’t be the devil, otherwise it will be too disappointing." Anon said, a barely perceptible grin playing on his lips.
"So, if it isn’t the devil, then what is there to fear? If you aren’t the devil prophesized by dead mother, then you simply are not worth mentioning!" Anon voiced.
As his voice traversed across this illusory world, the very world violently trembled, shaking and breaking under the intensity of his words.
Suddenly, what Anon perceived, changed greatly.
.....
The dark void spanned infinitely.
The distance it spanned was simply inconceivable!
Present in this world of darkness, there was a red star drifting through this world. Surrounding the red star was a blood ring that spun rapidly, releasing a sharp, buzzing sound.
At this time, the red star rolled across the dark world, carrying with it an unstoppable momentum, and an undeniable sharpness contained within the spinning blood ring!
In the direction which it approached, what stood before it was a mighty celestial star releasing infinite light.
As infinite as this light seemed, it still could not light up the entirety of this dark world...
The daunting sun star, carrying an air of eternity with it, blocked the path of this red star as it lunged towards it.
Collision was an inevitability.
The two stars made contact, and an illusory golden ripple mixed with traces of a burning red aura spread into the depths of the dark world.
Unmoving!
Unyielding!
Undying!
The eternal sun star was like an invincible warrior that had battle a hundred thousand enemies, and now stood atop a mountain of corpses facing the twisted heavens without fear, without worry.
Exceptional!
Mighty!
Fearless!
This invincible warrior went against the heavens, uncaring!
He stood upright, meeting the heavenly gaze with his own.
A mere mortal, standing against an existence on a higher conceptual plane, not fearful in the slightest.
Moreover, this mortal was not caught in the illusion, and pierced the false veil without hesitation, transcending the fake heaven and the phantom world.
The celestial sun star’s unmoving body caused the blood ring to release painful cracking sounds as it visibly began shattering, breaking apart.
The blood ring quickly fragmented and not long after, its fragments dissipated into blood-colored starlight that dissipated in the dark emptiness.
Thereafter, the world shook slightly, and a change occurred with the sun star. Releasing a piercing buzz that caused the void to tremble, it suddenly began rolling towards the red star.
Following the sun star was an indomitable momentum, and though its movements appeared slow to the naked eye, in the blink of an eye, it had already appeared before the red star, crashing into the smaller celestial body.
Boom!
The two stars met, and from the collision, an explosive energy spread into the depths of the dark world. At the same time, the red star was violently slammed into the far reaches of the void
As the power contained within the sun star washed over the red star, its first layer quickly transformed into blazing golden fire.
This golden celestial flame instantly swallowed the entire red star, the crackling flames burning even the dark world. Waves of heat rushed into the surroundings as the sun fire quickly grew more and more prominent on the red star.
Without giving the red star a chance, the sun star once again rolled in its direction.
Although the distance between the two had seemingly grown due to the previous collision, the concept of distance did not apply here, and the red star was instantly crushed under the mighty celestial star!
The red star buzzed and trembled for a short while, resisting as best as it could, however in slightly more than a moment, it exploded into crimson particles that readily lunged into the depths of the mighty sun star, seemingly devoured...
.....
Anon sat in the bottom of a small pit, the black pool was nowhere to be seen.
Opening his eyes, the radiant golden orbs actually revealed traces of a blood-like aura. Furrowing his brows, a deep frown appeared on his face as he sensed something amiss.
Besides his pupils, even his eyes had changed, however much more noticeably. Unlike before, they were now a demonic black, encompassing his subtly altered sun-like orbs.
At the same time, a foreign sensation swelled in his chest.
Praise the hegemon...
Anon heard this and shot up to his feet.
Jumping out of the small pit, his gaze darted around, yet he perceived no one.
The bloodshed hegemon...
Faint whispers echoed in the dark, catching him by surprise.
His furrowed brows only tightened even more as a foreign fear washed over his heart.
Ruler of the dark sun and malevolent moon...
Anon gripped his forehead tightly, and veins on his temples bulged.
Gritting his teeth, he slammed his fist against a nearby wall, causing the tunnel to violently tremble.
Devour the starry sky and run rampant in the celestial ocean...
"Ugh!" Anon suddenly groaned in discomfort as the sensation in his chest intensified and a liquid substance rushed up his throat.
His groans grew louder as he threw up on the wall.
The liquid gushed out of his mouth incessantly, and inherently, he knew that it originated from the dark pool that he was previously submerged under.
The Infernal God, to you, all creatures bow...
"Argh!" Black veins appeared on Anon’s skin as his groans evolved into pained growls.
Whilst the black liquid poisoned his body, his mind also suffered from the faint whispers echoing in the dark.
Anon clenched his hand into a fist and slowly assumed a meditative posture, leaning against the wall and taking a deep breath in.
The black liquid oozed out of his ears and eyes, seeping out of his mouth, and trickled down his nose, however he showed little care towards it.
For when the-
The whispers suddenly ceased as Anon closed his eyes and began purifying the remnant corruption of left behind by the devoured wraith.
.....
Without giving it much attention, time quickly passed.
Upon safely purifying his second wraith, Anon had no intention of breaching the fourth layer anytime soon.
After all, just the second wraith he came across in the third layer caused such a scenario even after it had been devoured. He deduced that it was possibly undergoing a type of evolution, hence why it took the form of the black pool.
It was able to affect both his body and mind, and only after purifying the remnant energy did the whispers stop. Almost pouring out his entire intestines in the process, he finally got rid of the black substance poisoning his flesh.
Different from before, what he earned from this wraith were fragmented memories that made very little sense.
Though little, he still gained something.
What he was able to deduce from these memories was that this wraith considered itself the remnants of a living entity originating from the new world.
’Not from the Victorious Fighting Country, nor from the world of old, clearly this is a native of the lost land continent. However, this is a bit...’ Anon sighed.
’From what I’ve absorbed of these memories, it seems that the natives of this lost land aren’t simple at all.’ Anon shook his head.
These memories were too chaotic to give him any confidence in confronting other natives and acting as if he were one of them, but it was not chaotic enough.
In fact, he would’ve rather it be too chaotic to make out anything at all!
