Myriad Devils-Chapter 135: Consuming strength
The humanoid beast general’s movements were overbearing and unruly.
As it made its way across the skies, it generated chaotic wind blades that rushed towards all directions. Some of which descended toward the earth before sinking deep within, leaving scars and fractures across the land.
These wind blades also rushed towards Seth.
However, this was a Seth who had steeled his will, and sprouting from his back were two dark wings that were each several tens of meters long and stretched across space.
The dark aura that they released quickly cloaked the sky and submerged the heavens in utter darkness!
A dreadful sensation seeped into the beast’s pores, but towards these foreign sensations of dread and fear, it growled even more deeply before unhesitatingly closing the distance between it and Seth!
Slashing out at him were dozens of wind blades, each being more than twice his size and carrying an immense force with them. But Seth’s figure was akin to a demonic shadow as several false bodies were generated, thereafter being torn apart by the wind blades.
As dark light dissipated in the air, Seth, seemingly having not moved a single inch since the beginning, stared into the several pairs of eyes of the humanoid beast.
As the beast met with Seth’s gaze, the dreadful fear suddenly intensified as alarm bells began ringing in the depths of its consciousness.
However, the humanoid beast had already been caught in a stare down with Seth. Particularly, Seth’s false body which slowly dissipated into dark particles.
His true body stood in the air directly above the humanoid beast.
For a time, he only looked down at the creature coldly. And said creature had seemingly been caught in a trance.
Then, his dark wings flapped downwards.
A dark aura generated a similar chaotic wind to what the beast general had created, but this time, these wind blades, dark in color, carried a frightening energy of destruction.
Dark runic characters flashed through the air around the humanoid creature as the dark wind blades landed against the creature’s body.
Puchi!
Blood sprayed into the sky as one of the creature’s arm was cleaved in half.
The pain that assaulted its mind seemingly woke it up from the trance that it had been caught in, but as it reacted to the dark aura from above, by the time it watched up, one of Seth’s wing had already morphed into a large sword.
It was a black sword that had a blade which stretched out for almost a hundred meters. And as it came down from the skies, it brought with it demonic laughter and deafening wails.
The cries of sorrow resounded throughout the dark heavens whilst the boisterous laughter caused the earth to tremble!
Dark runic characters shone on the blade as it landed on the humanoid creature’s body, phasing right through the neck of the three headed beast.
At the same time, the stellar cosmic energy that had been drawn by Seth’s spirit quickly dispersed in the air as Seth coughed up another mouthful of blood, falling to the earth rapidly.
As weakness spread out to all corners of his body, the humanoid beast, which was still caught in fear by the dark blade, reacted to Seth’s state.
However, before it could begin its pursuit of Seth, its sliced neck slowly began separating from the rest of its body, before beginning its descent toward the earth.
Anon saw these scenes and revealed a carefree smile.
He slowly rose to his feet before yanking the cloud severing spear out of the earth.
Then, he suddenly burst forth with speed, leaving behind a few spiderwebbed cracks to form on the earth beneath his feet.
It took him some time before he could cross the several miles it took to reach where Seth and the beast general landed.
Over the course of the battle, the duo had moved from the previous location which was only a couple or so miles away from Anon.
In fact, this battle saw them fight at practically every corner of the drifting rock’s skies. Any further and they would’ve ended up in another drifting rock.
Even if there battle was sensed by the living organisms residing in these foreign drifting rocks though, it appeared that each organism opted to remain within their own territory.
Like with the first beast general that had rushed towards Anon, and this one that rushed toward the duo, it almost appeared as if these beast generals had claimed these rocks as their territory and disliked to leave, so naturally disliked trespassers.
As Anon appeared before two craters, he saw Seth swallowed by some rubble, and he laid within the depths of the shattered earth in a sorry state.
Blood oozed from his orifices whilst his skin was sickly pale and his breathing, subtle.
’If his external situation is this bad, how messed up is his spirit?’ Anon frowned at this thought.
Straining the spirit.
That was what Anon himself had done.
It wouldn’t be impossible for Seth to similarly lose some of his cultivation.
If such a situation took place, now that would truly be laughable.
Straining the spirit wasn’t a simple matter. Otherwise, Anon would’ve opted to simply meditate on the first drifting rock for some time and raise his cultivation once more.
In fact, he still had some azure plums which was able to heal the spirit. But he had not utilized this mystic treasure because the injury on his spirit was simply too damaging, and the azure plums would not have much effect.
There was no simple fix to losing one’s cultivation base.
It was akin to not previously having reached that cultivation level in the first place, so how could he just magically attain a realm he did not have?
Although the spirit was familiar with the intricacies of that level, it was in fact, even harder for Anon to cultivate and meditate now.
His spirit which had been strained was restless and it was difficult for him to properly meditate.
Even perceiving stellar cosmic energy was extremely difficult.
Hence, Anon turned toward the second crater and made his way towards the corpse of the beast general. Its three heads were outside the crater and had burst open due to the impact of the collision with the earth, spilling brain matter in its near vicinity.
Anon skillfully twirled the spear in his right hand and stepped into the crater, stepping onto the beast’s corpse which was several times his size.
The tip of his spear was pressed against the creature’s chest, but even though he applied force, its skin was merely scratched.
Anon frowned, closing his eyes for some time.
After a while, he reopened them as a light shone within them. Though dim, this light still brightened his dark gold orbs as his spirit desperately summoned whatever stellar cosmic energy it could.
Drawing power from his principle, a faint dark gold aura leaked from his worldly flesh as the tip of his spear slowly penetrated the creature’s skin before he could finally carve around the creature’s heart.
After the passage of some time, Anon was able to acquire the beast general’s heart.
The moment he stuck his hand into its chest and yanked out its heart, a gooey black liquid spilled into the surroundings as a repulsive stench assaulted his nose.
"Ughhh..."
Anon groaned with disgust and stared at the heart in his hand in silence.
Shifting his gaze to Seth’s crater, Anon glanced at the heart again before turning his gaze to Seth once more.
’Did you really consume this?’ Anon groaned inwardly.
Lifting the heart into the sky, he raised it over his face. As the gooey black substance slowly fell from the heart, he opened his mouth and began consuming it.
"Ughhh...!" This reaction was his bodily instincts at work. He didn’t even realize his throat had clenched and did not want to swallow.
But his grip on the heart only tightened. Squeezing more of this black substance out of the heart, he forced it down his throat.
For a short while, a grueling while, a while that felt like the passing of an eternity, Anon consumed the black substance.
He only stopped when he felt the heart crush under his grip.
Tossing the remains of the creature’s heart away, Anon flicked his hand a few times to get rid of whatever substances that were stuck onto his palm.
At the same time, he silently questioned, ’I don’t necessarily feel any stronger. Is the effects limited because its only a low-level beast general?’ Anon wondered inwardly.
Thump!
But as his thoughts reached here, a single heartbeat followed.
Though slow, this single heartbeat released a ripple of force that escaped his chest and entered the near vicinity.
Anon’s ears perked up as he heard the thump within his chest.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Then, his heart began thumping wildly.
His skin turned red as his blood flowed rapidly, heating up.
"Ughhh!" Anon groaned in pain and discomfort as he clenched his chest.
He gasped for air and attempted to exit the crater, but as he tried stepping out, he tripped and stumbled to the ground.
Clawing his way out of the crater, gasping for air and groaning in pain, he glanced towards the second crater where Seth laid in a sorry state.
’Damn you!’ Anon bellowed out internally.
Clearly, Seth knew very well this would happen. And yet, he didn’t even give the slightest hint to Anon that the process was a pain.
’It must’ve caught him off-guard... And now, he wants me to feel the same way!’ Anon groaned in pain whilst thinking this.
His fingers clawed into the dirt as he gritted his teeth and attempted to bear the pain. He sucked in sharp breaths of air as his eyes became bloodshot.
Blood burst forth from his fingernails as his skin began shedding for itself.
It was as if his muscles were being gnawed at by a thousand biting ants, and his bones were being shattered by a hundred weapon forgers wielding sledgehammers.
Like ten thousand swords piercing his skin, and his blood was being simmered in a furnace of intense flames.
’With the kind of nightmares I’ve experienced, this level of pain isn’t something that I am unable to bear.’ Anon thought this with a deep scowl on his face. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Clearly, he was only attempting to lighten his mood.
Tch!
’Who am I kidding? No matter how much pain I experience, it remains the same. This feels like fucking shit!’ Anon grimaced even more.
As he stared at the second crater, he couldn’t help but feel a bottomless hatred.
’This bastardly Seth Constantin, Constantin! I really, really hate you!’ Anon screamed internally.
