Chapter 129: Blood Resonance

’W-Wait, hold on.’ Anon’s thoughts churned as his spear began slowing down.

’Aren’t I about to stare death in the face? If I’m to attack this senior, wouldn’t I be allowing my attackers to grasp the perfect excuse to carry out my assassination?’

’Wait, is this senior also in on it?’

’Is this his true goal?’

’Are my attackers about to assault me in the name of saving him?!’ As he thought of this, Anon’s spear came to a complete stop.

The murderous aura spilling out of his eyes dispersed immediately.

His spear broke down into mystical tattoos that imprinted themselves onto his hand as he glanced at the pale-skinned youth deeply.

"Hey, why don’t we both go our separate ways?" Anon’s attitude completely changed in a moment’s notice.

"Huh?! Y-Yeah, sure." The second year student unconsciously replied, staring at Anon with a dazed expression.

For some time, the murderous aura that Anon had revealed, and his movements that lacked the slightest hesitation...

The entire scenario replayed in his head endlessly.

Speed that completely surpassed his own.

And a spear that brought along such overwhelming momentum that there was no doubt in his mind that he was staring death in the face.

"A-Ah!" He remained motionless like an idiot for some time before finally catching himself.

By the time he did, both Anon and Seth were nowhere to be seen, and the nearby students had already gone about there way, sighing at the spectacle not to be.

’What’s with these first years?’

Not just the red-eyed boy who lacked any trepidation whatsoever, but the other one who was already a second world stellar fighter with speed above his own...

The semester had just begun and there was a year one student who had already surpassed him? 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

’Freak. What a freak.’

...

Not long after, Anon and Seth crossed a strange bridge that had been built over a bottomless abyss.

Once they appeared on the other side, they had successfully returned to sector one.

Here, the sun was not hidden behind countless clouds, but was instead dazzling and shone in all of its glory.

Seth glanced towards Anon and asked him, "Why did you stop?"

"Hehe, when there’s no need for blood to be spilt, why continue fighting? Especially when I’m only fighting because of you?" Anon chuckled.

Seth hummed in reply and mused to himself, ’He probably stopped because of what I had said.’

’Has he been on edge due to those words?’ Thinking this, a smile played on Seth’s lips.

In fact, he did not lie to Anon.

"I do not know what the Founder’s intentions are on most occasions, but I believe he has predicted that Anon’s life will come under threat soon." The dean, Veerabhadran Rao said this to Seth.

"He wants me to let you know that you will regret it, if you do not make precautions. Though I do not know what he means, I also have no intention to pry into this matter. I’ve said to you, what must be said." Saying this, the dean waved his hand, and Seth appeared before his assigned manor.

Recalling these events, Seth gazed deeply at Anon.

"If you continue to stare at me like that, some people may develop a great many misunderstandings." Anon’s dark gold eyes shimmered as he turned to Seth.

"Anon." Seth’s expression changed, and his cold demeanor morphed into one of contemplation as he looked into Anon’s eyes and said in an unusual tone, "When we return, there is something that I must show you."

"Is that so..." Anon knitted his brows.

...

"Do you trust me?" Seth looked at Anon who sat in a meditative posture in front of him.

"Of course not." Anon chuckled lightly.

"Do you trust the path established by your mother?" Seth rephrased his question.

"I do." Anon tilted his head and looked at Seth doubtfully. Since they had returned to sector one, Seth had been acting out of character.

After returning to their assigned manor, he requested for Anon to follow him to the training room.

Currently, they were both sitting with their legs folded facing each other, with their upper bodies revealed.

Although his figure was small, Seth’s frame was still quite well defined. His fat percentage was practically null, and every piece of meat on his flesh was in fact dense muscle.

It could be said that nothing was wasted, but at the same time, it was strange.

To function properly, at the very least, a little bit of fat was ideal.

"So if you do, then you’ll trust that I won’t harm you, right?" Seth questioned.

"You won’t harm me in this current instance." Anon corrected.

"Okay then, I’ll be open with you." Seth said, "I have an ability that I have yet to reveal to you... It allows for a connection to be established between us. Not only will you have an idea of my vitals, and vice-versa, we’ll also have a general idea of each other’s location in the event of something unexpected happening."

"With danger lurking around the corner, I recommend that we carry out the ritual for blood resonance." Seth concluded.

Anon listened silently.

He did not reply immediately, but instead remained silent whilst thinking internally, ’With father’s involvement via the dean, I’m sure that even right now, we’re being observed by him. Even if Seth is plotting something with this ability, Blood Resonance, under father’s eyes, it is impossible for him to truly harm me.’

’In the event that I do suffer from some assassination, I can only assume that it is father’s plots at work. At the same time, whatever hidden agenda Seth has will become useless.’ Anon surmised.

"What do you wish for me to do?" Anon asked.

Hearing this, Seth suppressed a grin and said, "I only need a drop of your blood."

And so, Anon flicked with his finger.

His nail dug into his flesh, causing a drop of blood to spill into the air

Seth’s eyes lit up as a drop of blood seeped from the pores on his chest and floated into the air before him.

As if attracted towards each other, each droplet drifted closer before coming into contact and seamlessly melding into a single drop of blood.

This drop of blood lifted into the air, above the two, before beginning to rotate anti-clockwise.

And the speed of this rotation continuously quickened until it began spitting out fine blood-colored particles that fell onto the two of them!

These particles fell like droplets of rain, onto their bodies, seeping into their skin, and it continued to fall until the droplet of blood had seemingly completely transformed into these blood-colored particles.

...

Date: November 23rd

Time: 9:00 a.m.

Although several days had past since October’s assessment had come to an end, Anon was one of the few students who had yet to return to a single class.

Even though Seth might’ve appeared as a slacker, he had still showed his face in class the same morning they had returned from the dean’s office, on November the 18th.

Since the assessment had taken place, there was a shift in the academy’s attitude towards the current students.

One could say that they treated them more like geniuses that would be nurtured into heroes in the future, than mere students.

It came as a surprise to some of the students, especially those who had greater knowledge.

Those who had older siblings and knew how the academy treated the previous years, were slightly taken aback by the academy’s current treatment.

However, in fairness, the assessment that they had undergone was much more intense than the previous years, hence why they were now worthy of such treatment.

In the early hours of the morning, students would be allowed to acquire private tutoring by the teachers in sector one.

At nine, they would be gathered for a general briefing before heading to classes unique to their principle’s nature.

Every day was one of constant learning and improvement.

Besides the optional private sessions in the early morning, students would experience classes focused solely on their principle, and other classes heavily focused on combat.

Then there were the classes within the gravity chambers, and also in chambers capable of creating unique environments and landscapes.

There were also chambers capable of creating unique scenarios. For example, students battling beasts in cities whilst also having to save the residents of these cities.

When Anon arrived at the nine a.m. class, most of the students present did not pay him any heed, but Felix’s voice came from the back of the class almost instantaneously.

"A-Anon..." His eyes quickly became wet as he rushed down several steps and appeared before Anon whilst attempting to embrace him.

It was very similar to Cassius’s actions back in high school.

Although Anon evaded Felix with ease, the latter did not give up, and instead chased him all the way to the back of the class where he previously sat, alongside Jacob.

’It seems like their relationship has developed to a point after the events of the Blood-Drip Jungle.’ Anon pondered in silence.

Though he greeted Jacob, and the latter replied with a greeting of his own, compared to before, there was visibly less excitement in his eyes when seeing Anon.

’Oh?’ Anon’s eyes lit up.

"I heard a rumor about Bolan, or more accurately, his remains." Jacob said this and stared at Anon intently.

It was almost as if he was questioning him rather than...

"Jacob!" Felix frowned at his words.

"Really? From where did you hear this?" Anon met Jacob’s eyes with his own, and tilted his head doubtfully.

"Nowhere in particular." Jacob sighed and shifted his gaze.

The air was slightly tense as Felix took a seat between the two.

"It’s a real pity." Felix said with a sigh, continuing, "Andrew, Catharina, and Melissa."

Although Bolan had betrayed them, the others were their comrades.

"A pity indeed." Seth’s voice came from afar.

Anon heard this and suppressed a smirk, saying in a low tone, "A real pity."

...

As the students swarmed into the classroom, an elderly instructor soon arrived and repeated the same briefing that he had been giving since the 18th of October.

Naturally, this briefing was for students like Anon, who had returned to class for the first time.

Most notably, the last day of November would bring along November’s assessment. And when this general briefing ended, as the four made their way out of the classroom, Anon was held back.

Not by any student, but by the instructor herself.
