Myriad Devils-Chapter 121: The Final Hour (2/4)
The behavior of the monkeys closer to the mountain-shaped main base was noticeably more docile than those farther away. It was possible to find some of them sitting seemingly at peace, and even more shockingly, there were even monkeys on their knees as they faced the mountain.
To such a scene, Anon and Seth glanced towards each other. The former felt a strangeness well up in his chest as he saw such a sight. It was an oddness that even made him doubt whether he really wanted to enter the mountain.
After all, inherently, these were ruthless, vile, and crazed monsters. Seeing such creatures act so docile and harmless caused an eerie feeling to course through Anon’s veins.
All of a sudden, surrounding the mountain was a peculiar aura. Although they were shrouded by an elusive veil, in Anon’s eyes, the main base was the one which had been shrouded by a veil, a veil of complex mysteries.
Naturally, due to the docile nature of the monkeys, as they drew closer to the mountain, it became easier and easier to maneuver there way through the clearing. The one-winged monkeys almost appeared reluctant to fly, or even move around whilst they were near the mountain.
Unlike at the previous entrances, the monkeys present at the entrance to this base acted neither rowdy nor casual. In fact, they each had a weapon next to them, and they sat with their legs folded, almost as if they were meditating like humans.
As the duo brushed past these unassuming monkeys, the eyelid of one of them twitched slightly before it opened its eyes, revealing a pair of tantalizing blue eyes. The one-winged monkey looked behind, in the direction of Anon and Seth who had sneaked into the entrance of the base.
It’s blue eyes shone with an icy light!
Still, its killing intent retracted and its budding aura subsided. It closed its eyes and then returned to its previous state.
At the same time, Anon and Seth ventured deeper into the mountain.
The path within was dark, and only after a little over a hundred footsteps, did they perceive something other than darkness.
Only, it was another group of monkeys that were also sitting in meditation.
Upon brushing past this group, more than one pair of blue eyes took glances at the duo, but still, no change occurred.
Several hundred footsteps later, Anon and Seth crossed paths with several groups of meditating monkeys before finally, the darkness was vanquished by a blinding azure light.
Before them resided a large cave that housed hundreds of one-winged monkeys that were continuously kowtowing towards a towering rock.
The rock was about eighteen meters tall and just as wide, and for the most part, it was somewhat transparent, so its interior could also be seen.
Inside, what resided there, or more accurately, what slept within the rock was the remains of a creature.
Umpteenth times smaller than the gigantic rock, the malnourished creature slept peacefully.
It had a tail as long as its body, and a single wing on its back.
Curled up into a ball, it hugged its legs and appeared dead.
Its flesh was shriveled up, so it was obviously only remains.
Knowing this, it confused Anon even more...
’Why?!’ Anon screamed internally!
Seth had already reacted, and turned his back away from the towering rock!
’Why is that aura so intense?!’
Radiating from the rock, or more precisely, the dead creature, was an aura that was too tremendous to be confined by the metaphysical world.
It manifested into ripples of energy that seeped out of the rock and washed over every nook and cranny of the cave.
And yet, not even a remnant of this aura escaped the reach of the cave.
This aura...
Upon contacting the elusive veil forged by the clear heart crystal, this aura instantly shattered said veil, exposing Anon and Seth.
Immediately after, a frigid blue flame latched onto their bodies, grabbing the attention of the kowtowing swarm of one-winged monkeys.
Ridding themselves of the blue flame was a no-brainer.
From Anon’s worldly flesh, a dark gold aura oozed from his pores before spreading out into his surroundings.
The gold aura and the blue aura coexisted for a while before the dark gold aura slowly began overwriting the blue flames.
Similarly, a blood-colored air dwarfed the blue flame that had swallowed Seth, slowly transforming the flame into that dark red aura.
But after drawing power from their principle, and successfully getting rid of the flames, it caused the one-winged monkeys to grow agitated.
Once these one-winged monkeys sensed the stellar fighter aura of the pair, a thick sea of blood-lust hurriedly rushed towards them.
Still, neither of them appeared greatly bothered by the blood-lust, and instead, a clear heart crystal appeared in each of their hand, before breaking apart and causing a strange energy to wash over them.
At the same time, they turned around and quickly stepped out of the cave, reentering the dark path that would lead them out of the mountain. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
To the one-winged monkeys, the instance the two humans entered the darkness outside of the cave, they mysteriously disappeared. More than just visibly, it was impossible to even sense their auras.
It was confusing to these dumb beasts.
After all, every living organism had a distinct aura, and beasts were quite sensitive to these auras.
For it to simply disappear, was a first for them.
But just before they could scream with rage, two humanoid masses of blue flames lit up the darkness.
Aaooh! Aaooh! Aaooh!
Such growls were formed from the share glee that coursed through their veins.
Their king had blessed them!
The two humans who had come seeking trouble were doomed the moment they came in contact with the aura of their king!
"Ah!" Anon was caught by surprise and his eyes widened in shock at the sight of his entire body lighting up in blue flames.
The blue flames was not hot, in fact, it was quite the opposite.
A coldness that seeped through their skin and into the depths of their fleshy bodies, it brought a heavy sensation to their mind, as if it was attempting to impair their thinking, or slow down their thoughts.
The flame itself was a massive signal to the one-winged monkeys.
Seth shook his head and said in a dark tone, "The clear heart crystal is a treasure capable of shrouding the auras of stellar fighters in the third world. The aura of that beast within the rock is obviously beyond that of a beast general. The monkeys kowtowing towards it says everything."
The one-winged monkeys kowtowing to their king!
Above beast generals, comparable to stellar fighters in the fourth world.
The One-winged Monkey King!
A Beast King!
After such an aura which was beyond the capabilities of the crystal, had latched onto the duo, it was only natural that the clear heart crystal would utterly fail in shrouding their presence once said aura resurfaced on their bodies.
In the blink of an eye, the clear heart crystal became useless!
Naturally, it did not make sense to even bother using another one. No matter how many crystals they would use, it wouldn’t change a thing.
Hundreds of one-winged monkeys within the cave released terrorizing screeches as they rushed out of the cave and towards the brilliant blue flames lighting up the dark path within the interior of the mountain that they claimed as their base.
Due to the presence of their king, this location was even more restricted than any of the other bases. Towards these intruders, the one-winged monkey group had been driven to insanity.
Now that they were without the effects of the clear heart crystal, as the pair of stellar geniuses escaped from the mountain using the same path that they took, the earring attached to Anon’s ears lit up with a fiery light.
Battle was inevitable, and the first group of one-winged monkeys sitting with folded legs had already sensed them.
The fiery light detached itself from Anon’s right ear and circled around his body several times, growing larger with each circle it made. Then, it exploded into flaming sparks that lit up the surroundings as a dark gold rod with fiery flaming patterns materialized in his hand.
Seth waved his hand, causing droplets of blood to materialize in front of him.
And as his eyes released a dark red glow, the drops of blood shimmered with a similar light before exploding with immense speed.
It was common knowledge that magical attacks formed from one’s principle moved many times faster than physical attacks. Instantly, the droplets of blood separated from Anon and Seth and appeared before the group of one-winged monkeys.
The azure-colored eyes of these monkeys glowed brightly as their mouths opened wide, allowing them to spit out balls of flames.
The instance these flames met with the droplets of blood rushing towards them, a magical explosion of opposing principles occurred.
Frightening waves of power lashed against the walls built alongside this dark path as the mountain itself trembled in terror.
At the same time, debris formed in the air, creating a barrier that separated the group of one-winged monkeys and the pair of stellar geniuses.
But soon after, piercing the dark cloud of debris was a humanoid mass of blue flames swinging a dark gold rod.
Wherever this rod went, a trail of fiery red flames was left, pulsating with intense heat.
Wielding a flaming pillar, Anon fearlessly confronted the group of one-winged monkeys!
