Chapter 119: Sky bending pillar

There was a stinging pain that assaulted Anon’s mind as he attempted to brand the divine weapon. Once his principle power seeped into the silvery pillar, as the golden aura overwrote the silvery color, it also contacted the fiery etchings on the pillar.

The instance this occurred, a burning sensation welled up his chest.

As if someone or something had plucked his heart out of his chest, and dropped it into a pot of boiling water, it felt as if there was still a connection between him and his plucked-out heart, allowing him to feel every figment of pain from this pot of boiling water.

The scalding heat attempted to skew his mind and send his thoughts into disarray.

’Indeed, attempting to refine a divine weapon isn’t easy.’ As he winced in pain, Anon thought this. Only the Sky-grade anklets were strange in the fact that they did not really show any resistance. Whether that was due to Bolan’s master making it this way, for Bolan, or not, Anon did not know, nor care.

The golden aura had already covered the entire surface area of the pillar barring the locations where the fiery patterns resided. The process of covering these fiery patterns was simple, but much slower. Even though he had a high resistance to pain, he still took his time as he first acclimatized to the pain before drawing out more principle power to seep into these fiery patterns.

The more surface area of the pattern he covered, the more intense this pain became. Shortly after he began, his dark skin slowly heated up and radiated a reddish hue. Then, wisps of hot steam rose from his flesh, causing him to grit his teeth and clench his hands into fists. He did not have enough strength to raise his hand anymore and place it against the pillar, so his forehead was firmly pressed against it instead.

Anon was no stranger to this kind of torment though. Until now, he hadn’t acquired even a wink of sleep after suffering from the previous nightmare.

Though sleeping was vital for the spirit, meditation could just barely allow him to maintain a stable state. But his spirit had been continuously tortured and pressured, and over the past month or so, the suffering had reached a higher level of intensity.

Just like a diamond, his spirit would not evolve unless it underwent such pressure. Hence, now that he faced the challenge of enduring pain to brand the pillar, through gritted teeth, his principle power could slowly cover more and more area of the fiery pattern.

Due to the scalding heat boiling his insides, he lost all sense of what was...

Before he knew it, the golden aura had completely covered every inch of the pillar!

Suddenly, the pain disappeared.

It was a weird feeling, going from immense pain that caused one’s expressions to contort and sever one’s thinking capabilities, to utterly no pain whatsoever.

The abruptness left him in a daze for a short time.

But his psyche quickly adjusted and was then rapidly assaulted by a mind-numbing quantity of noise.

Aaooh! Aaooh! Aaooh!

He opened his eyes to the sight of utter chaos.

One-winged monkeys screaming and roaring in fear and anger, hatred even as they flew around the space within the small mountain and rapidly launched towards Seth who had used too much stellar cosmic energy, overwhelming the clear heart crystal’s effects, and now becoming visible to these one-winged monkeys.

Over a hundred one-winged monkeys were present, but less than thirty of them were alive. There were dozens of corpses scattered across, some of which were mangled and deformed, whilst others appeared as dried sacks of bones and flesh, their blood sucked out as if a vampire had partaken in a feast, and they were the main dish.

Anon remained sitting in a meditative posture. Though he had utilized stellar cosmic energy to brand the divine weapon, the effects of his clear heart crystal hadn’t yet dissipated.

He observed the activities taking place as Seth left several false bodies in his wake, bodies that were obliterated by wrathful one-winged monkeys.

As of now, of the entities within the small mountain, probably only Anon himself could lock onto, and follow Seth’s movements.

Still submerged in the effects of the clear heart crystal, Anon also knew that at this moment in time, Seth himself would find it difficult to perceive Anon.

’If I was to attempt to assassinate Seth here and now, would I succeed?’ This thought appeared in Anon’s mind. ’I probably would not get another chance like this anytime soon.’ Anon pondered inwardly and observed the pillar in front of him.

He slowly outstretched his hand and gently caressed the surface of the pillar. It was now a dark gold pillar decorated with fiery patterns of burning flames.

These flames...

The surrounding atmosphere seemed to twist and bend uncomfortably in reaction to them.

Anon could sense the intense might that the pillar and the flames carried.

’Sky-Bending Pillar! I’ll give you such a name.’ Anon thought with a subtle smirk. Who knew how long he would possess this weapon, but it would surely be for a lengthier time than the lesser divine weapon he had bought from the academy. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

After all, this was a greater divine weapon. There was a chance that it could very well evolve under the right circumstances, like the Sky-grade magical item in his possession.

Anon took another glance at Seth, and then, a frigid light shone in his eyes. In reaction to his psyche, the pillar trembled, causing the earth to shake.

For a moment, the battle between Seth and the monkeys came to a halt as the pillar’s transformation restarted.

At the same time, a one-winged monkey with blue eyes had casually stepped through the runic characters that were invisible to the world outside of the small mountain.

The first thing this unassuming monkey saw was a mighty golden pillar dramatically shrinking in size, before exploding with immense speed towards it.

The monkey had only taken a single step past the runic characters, and the golden pillar was already inches away from its face.

Plop!

Its head burst open like a watermelon crushed by a sledgehammer.

As the weapon arced through the air and returned to him, Anon slowly rose up to his feet as the clear heart crystal’s effect disappeared.

The invisible veil shrouding his figure crumbled as the one-winged monkeys took sight of a swarthy skinned youth with dark gold eyes wielding the shrunken pillar.

Sparks of flames exploded in his vicinity as the divine weapon scrapped against the floor upon being twirled skillfully by Anon.

As if he had taken offence to being ignored, Seth waved his hand, causing countless droplets to rise from the corpses scattered around the small mountain.

Numbering in the hundreds, and each containing immense power, before the shocked monkeys could react, over half of the remaining one-winged monkeys had their vital organs pierced ruthlessly.

Even those that had reacted in time and protected their vital areas would’ve had their flesh pierced, whether that be their leg, arm, or single wing.

And whilst they returned their focus towards Seth, dodging the droplets of blood, Anon waved the weapon in his hand, drawing a circle in the air before him.

The monkeys, with their keen senses, swiftly perceived the stellar cosmic energy Anon commanded to pour into his weapon. The circle spat bursts of flames that raced through the air and latched onto the busily evading one-winged monkeys.

Although they had sensed his actions, Seth was unrelenting as the countless droplets of blood arced through the air and raced towards the surviving monkeys, giving them no time to react to Anon’s attack.

As they desperately evaded the blood, their bodies were quickly enveloped by tantalizing flames that had shot out of the fiery circle which Anon drew in the air.

Though their tough skin and robust flesh attempted to resist the fiery force, their senses had been skewed as they were assaulted by an intense wave of pain and dread.

Their attempts at evading Seth’s attacks took a drastic hit as the droplets of blood began ruthlessly crashing into them.

Before long...

Within the small mountain, over a hundred one-winged monkey corpses were scattered across the ground.

Anon waved his weapon, causing flames to rise from the earth beneath the corpses, lighting them to smithereens.

"That’s a nice little staff you’ve gotten yourself." Seth smirked and said whilst leaving a false body in the air and appearing alongside Anon.

"Staff?" Anon glanced at the shrunken pillar in his hand with knitted brows. Then, a smile formed on his lips, "It’s a little weaker than what I expected from a greater divine weapon, but it’ll do I guess."

When he had attacked utilizing fire principles that the divine weapon was capable of manipulating, he had expected the flames to reduce the one-winged monkeys to ashes and dust.

Instead, the flames couldn’t even breach their skin.

"That’s the power second world stellar fighters usually have, dear Anon. Both you and I are slightly unique, whether that be thanks to your Proto principle, or my three principles." Seth’s lips lifted as he said this, whispering to himself, ’Specifically, my demonic nature.’

"In the hands of a stellar fighter with a fire-related principle, it would’ve revealed more power." Anon added as he waved the staff in the air.

It then transformed into a dark gold light that rushed towards his left ear, assuming the form of a small, diamond-like earring embedded into his earlobe, radiating a fiery red hue.

At the same time, the runic characters by the entrance began solidifying. This was quickly perceived by both Anon and Seth, causing their faces to darken slightly.

Then, from outside, droves of one-winged monkeys raced into the small mountain, causing the solidified runic characters to shatter!
