Chapter 110: Dreadwing

Dark residual energy permeated the air as the corpse of a commander beast dispersed into remnant energy.

Seth had stepped forward and made light work of the commander beast.

In fact, it had taken only a wave of his hand to see the construction of a blood river that ruthlessly poured onto the beast commander, breaking its body down relentlessly.

"That’s surprising." Seeing the commander beast’s body dissipate into remnant dark energy, Anon couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.

Its body was not flesh and blood, catching him by surprise.

Then, he glanced at Seth and secretly wondered if the aura that the beast had exuded was fake, or was it really that Seth was so powerful?

That he could exterminate a beast commander in a moment’s notice!

’Can I do that?’ He wondered internally.

More than just instantly killing a beast commander, it was the way in which he made it appear so simple that really struck Anon to the core.

Seth smirked before stepping towards the remnant energy.

Walking past the gathering of dark energy, his stride dispersed the energy into the surrounding air as he ventured further into the mountain. Anon followed behind, contemplating to himself silently.

The duo maneuvered through the packed land filled with black-leaved trees.

There was a strange sensation that resided in the air indefinitely.

This sensation was weird in a way since it felt as if there was someone or something constantly observing them, and yet, at the same time, there was a feeling that there was no other entity in the world.

As if they were the only remaining beings on planet earth.

Even though they stood next to each other, somehow it felt as if they were by themselves.

The two glanced at each other, perceiving this oddness.

Then, they drew power from their principles, causing their auras to intensify.

Cracks formed in the atmosphere surrounding them.

"Illusion!" Anon growled as the world around them broke apart, shattering into countless illusory shards.

Surrounding them were six black-skinned creatures.

They had large bird-like bodies, bat-like wings, and beaks on their faces. As the duo’s gaze landed on them, the six creatures flapped their wings and lifted into the air.

But Anon and Seth shot into the air after them, exploding with speeds that greatly surpassed what these beasts could move at.

A dazzling golden aura shrouded Anon’s arms as he approached one of the beasts and grabbed its neck, crushing it due to the sheer strength of his grip.

As he heard the cracking sound, he glanced at the beast with a risen eyebrow.

Soon after, he and Seth made light work of the remainder.

Like before, the corpses of the slain beasts rapidly dissipated into that same dark energy.

"Are beast commanders really this weak?" Anon frowned and asked himself.

"I don’t think so." Seth interjected Anon’s train of thought.

He glanced at Anon, the duo’s eyes showing a light of understanding as Seth asked a question, "Are you thinking what I’m thinking?"

"It’s the beast general, isn’t it." Anon smirked and said.

"Indeed!" Seth agreed.

Immediately, they burst forth with speed.

The scene thereafter was like this; a trail of dark gold light and blood red light intertwined continuously, forging a path that led to the mountain’s peak.

Maneuvering through the mountain’s trees and slaying beastly creatures on their way up, the two stellar geniuses did not take long to reach the mountain top.

It was an open field of nearly five hundred meters.

There, the land had small hills and was uneven. And even with the odd black trees here and there, for the most part, it appeared quite empty.

Anon took a swift glance at the mountain top and chuckled lightly.

Initially, he did not see anything that hinted at the whereabouts of the beast general which resided on this mountain.

"There you are." Anon smirked after drawing more power from his principle.

The illusory world before him quickly shattered as he and Seth stood on the edge of a large crater.

The light from the cosmic sky, though dim, was enough for their gazes to make out what was present in the very depths of this gargantuan hole running inside the mountain.

Standing on the edge, they both almost simultaneously stepped forward. More accurately, Seth stepped forward, whilst Anon only leaned forward.

His figure tipped over the edge, whilst Seth’s front foot seemingly landed on an invisible ground as he took another step, walking effortlessly in the empty air.

Instead, Anon’s figure descended toward the very depth of the hole. Though he was freefalling, and although there were hundreds of feet separating him from the bottom, Anon appeared quite relaxed mid-air as he folded his arms and observed the world at the bottom of the crater which he was about to enter.

Whether it was surprising or not, the bottom of the abyss-like crater was filled with white flowers.

Like a heavenly garden, there were beautifully sculpted trees with colored leaves on their branches and azure-colored plums of sorts that appeared ripe. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

At the same time, there was a calm, divinely designed river flowing through the magnificent garden, with waters that were a pristine white color. Interestingly, growing out of the white water were transparent crystals that oozed purity.

Compared to the dark aura encompassing the mountain, and the creatures existing within, the bottom of this crater was quite literally a foreign world.

Radiating from the garden was a comforting feeling that permeated and coursed through Anon’s sense of self. It refreshed his mind, making him feel as if any confusion plaguing him was now not a bother.

Like this, his eyes landed on something that did not fit the image which the garden gave off.

In the garden, the beast general rested peacefully.

Its body was massive. At least twenty meters from a glance.

And at the same time, most of it was covered by two bat-like wings.

The beast general was certainly of the bird-lineage, having a similar build, only being much larger in size.

As Anon descended from high above, the beast opened its closed eyes, revealing a pair of bloody pupils filled with unadulterated savagery and murderous aura.

Its bat-like wings lacked any feathers, only being dark in color, and as the beast general slowly spread its wings in reaction to Anon’s approaching figure, a shadowy darkness dripped into the surroundings.

Anon reached within thirty meters of the ground before his aura exploded.

As he drew out power from his principle, his speed of descent drastically slowed down.

Finally, he gently landed on the bottom of the crater, but by the time he had done so, there was a looming shadow that had swallowed the entire garden.

The refreshing sensation that the garden radiated had been immediately replaced by a soul-numbing coldness that overflowed the surrounding area.

Anon could feel a sense of dread and fear being forcefully instilled into the depths of his heart.

Not to be mistaken, it wasn’t that he had become fearful, but it was one of this creature’s abilities.

Immediately, he thought to himself, ’I think I know this beast. The Dreadwing Harbinger, also known as just Dreadwing. The Red Ape is rather boring to explore with its strength-related principle, but this beast has a darkness-related principle.’

As principles were worldly concepts, it made for the principle of darkness being a most intriguing subject. For example, darkness-related principles could easily range from having physical darkness as its main strength, to having concepts like fear, the darkness of the mind, as one of its strengths.

The Dreadwing beast was famous for having a variety of strange abilities. Most notably, more than its frightening strength, it was also incredibly difficult to kill across ranks.

What this meant was that first world stellar fighters would find it difficult to kill a Dreadwing beast soldier, and a second world stellar fighter would find it meddlesome to slay a Dreadwing beast commander.

And now, two second world stellar fighters were confronting a Dreadwing beast general.

One could even say that it would be directly impossible and improbable for them to end the beast general’s life.

And after sensing the auras that these two humans radiated, the Dreadwing also felt like this, relaxing a bit.

This was obvious since the murderous light in its eyes had subtly transformed into a more cruel and sadistic light.

A type of playfulness that Anon was familiar with.

He had already experienced this type of glow in the eyes from the one-winged monkey horde.

"Feeling relaxed huh." Anon smirked coldly as a cruel glint flashed through his eyes. The dirt beneath his feet erupted as he exploded at breakneck speed towards the beast general.

Reacting to his movements, it flapped its wings and lifted into the air. At the same time, from its body, a powerful dark cloud expanded towards all directions.

Anon pierced through this dark cloud in an instant, but as he appeared on the other side, a zapping shock coursed through his body, attempting to paralyze his movements.

A muffled explosion followed as the dark gold aura leaking from his body exploded outwards, terminating any effects that the beast general’s attack might’ve had on him.

At the same time, the sound of a flowing river echoed throughout the depths of this crater!

"Blood River!"

A blinding crimson light shone on the beast general’s body as it was swiftly caught up in a river of descending blood.

The head of the blood river continued its descent towards the garden, carrying seemingly infinite might whilst the rest of its body relentlessly pummeled the beast general’s body.

"Dammit!"

Remembering the state of everything after the battle with the Red Ape beast general, Anon growled as he saw the river approaching the garden.

But just before it could reach and inevitably destroy the garden, it made an arc in the air, rushing back to the Dreadwing beast.

Said beast had shrouded itself in a dark shadow, its actual body becoming hidden by a veil of energy.

In fact, the blood river had not harmed even a feather on its body, nor did it even scratch the beast’s wings!
