Chapter 74 - A Lover’s Betrayal

Before he could fire the bullet, the burly man fell to the ground, drenched in blood, as a bullet pierced his head after being shot by Keiko. Once the man was dead, the situation became even more chaotic.

A brawl broke out inside the café. Keiko, assisted by the staff of Asahi Café, tried to drive away Kaito's men.

Meanwhile, seeing her beloved fighting to protect Ryuji, she immediately stepped forward to help. After all, how could she let her lover fight alone, especially considering his condition hadn't fully recovered from his injuries some time ago? Now, she had to watch him fight and get hurt again.

"This storage cabinet will be our shield. Never allow the masked people to see you," Arashi told Saki as she hid her behind the cabinet.

"But," Saki's eyes were already welling up with tears.

"Be quiet and stop arguing with me," Arashi scolded him.

"Okay. After everything happened, I said the words I wanted to say before entering the storage room and did not answer to Arashi," the teenager said obediently.

There were times when the coffee shop in question would have moments of peace as no customers could be seen there, but at this time, there was gunfire, and asphalt caught on fire as well, for blood was almost all over the floor. The people lying on the floor were an upturned-blooded mess. Unavoidably, loud noise was created in the coffee shop to draw in many passersby. One of the passersby who witnessed the whole action immediately notified the police about the event.

Ten minutes later, reinforcements arrived, but unfortunately, they weren't there to help Keiko and the Asahi Café staff—they were there to aid their enemies. A man arrived with dozens of armed guards and easily subdued Keiko. The situation had reversed, with all the Asahi Café staff and Keiko cornered, unable to fight back due to being outnumbered. Issei was also captured and held hostage by Ryoji.

Calmly, Ryoji pointed his gun at Issei's head. "Hand over Fujimoto Saki to me," he whispered coldly.

Issei's body trembled violently as the gun barrel was pressed against his head, as if the god of death was before him, ready to lead him away.

"Don't listen to him, Issei!" Arashi shouted in fury, jerking strainingly at his bonds.

Arashi's courage was punched ruthlessly, and he coughed in pain, becoming speechless further. His friends, however, were not able to move an inch because they were held at gunpoint, too.

"Hand her over now if you want to save your life and the lives of your friends," Ryoji threatened with pressure.

Keiko and the others stared at Issei, hoping he wouldn't reveal Saki's whereabouts, even if it meant losing his life to protect the person he loved. However, their assumption had been wrong. Instead of fighting against Ryoji, Issei introduced his lover Saki to the criminal and offered his beloved to the crime lord in exchange for saving himself. Of course, Issei had caused anger in everyone, and Arashi 's trust was greatly hurt.

'Forgive me, Saki,' Issei felt regret in his heart.

He felt he had no choice but to do this to save everyone. Saki's face was filled with shock and disbelief as she looked at Issei, unable to believe he would do this to her. At the very least, Saki would have done anything to save her friends, but she never thought Issei would be willing to hand her over so easily to save himself.

"Issei-kun," Saki murmured sadly. Issei brought Saki before Ryoji.

With a small smile, Ryoji looked at the girl still wearing a maid uniform. "So, you're Fujimoto Saki."

Saki glared fiercely, filled with hatred, at Ryoji, showing no fear even though she was facing a ruthless criminal.

Being stared at like that by Saki pleased Ryoji, as if she were looking at him with love. "I like that look of yours, sweetheart," he said while grabbing Saki's chin.

Saki roughly pushed Ryoji's hand away from her face. Once again, Ryoji smiled, amused by Saki's reaction, which, unlike most girls, he found very intriguing.

"Take her to the car, and make sure she doesn't escape unless you want to lose your lives," Ryoji ordered, his words laced with threat. Saki's body was immediately taken away by several of Ryoji's men and shoved into the car.

Of course, Saki resisted and didn't want to be taken away, but her strength was no match for the person carrying her.

As per Ryoji's earlier words and promise, they were all set free after handing over Saki. Unfortunately, Asahi Café was deliberately set on fire as retaliation against Renji and Tetsuya for destroying Hiroshi's base.

"I hope you enjoy the gift I've sent," Ryoji grinned, pleased to see Asahi Café engulfed in flames.

Satisfied with watching the fire consume the entire café, Ryoji left, taking Saki to the base to meet Kaito Ishikawa. His dead subordinates were also taken away. There was, of course, a reason behind his actions this time—one of them being to provoke Renji and Tetsuya, hoping the two would come to the Ishikawa mansion. Ryoji had prepared a special "gift" for them.

All the staff of Asahi Café and Keiko tried to extinguish the fire by any means necessary. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished, but some of the café's property was damaged. At least the building itself was saved from being completely burned down.

After the fire incident, Arashi suddenly started beating Issei, venting his overflowing anger at his friend. Seeing the two fight, none of their friends tried intervening or stopping the brawl, as they felt Issei deserved it.

"Why did you let that man take Saki away!" Arashi shouted, filled with anger and disappointment.

"It was the only way to save all of us," Issei replied, feeling guilty for handing over his fiancée to a criminal.

"Even if it meant dying, you shouldn't have handed Saki over!" Arashi yelled, his anger boiling over.

"You're not afraid of death, but I am. Who do you think you are, huh?" Issei shouted back at Arashi, feeling angry.

Arashi punched Issei again with all his strength, causing Issei to fall to the ground. "I should never have entrusted her to a coward like you."

"Who are you calling a coward? Me, or you, who never dared to confess your feelings and just admired her from afar?" Issei retorted emotionally, unable to accept being called a coward.

"Enough, stop fighting! This isn't the time for you two to be brawling!" Ryuji scolded, stepping in between the fight

"Don't try to stop me, Ryuji!" Arashi shouted angrily.

"I'm angry too, but there's something more important we need to do right now," Ryuji replied.

"Ryuji-kun is right. We need to devise a plan to save Miss Saki," Keiko said, trying to support Ryuji.

Arashi fell silent, his expression somber as he thought about Saki's condition. "You're right."

"There's nothing we can do. We should leave this to the authorities," Issei said, trying to prevent his friends from doing something reckless.

"Are you crazy, Issei?" Ryuji shouted angrily.

"It's you guys who are crazy. How can you even think about saving Saki when you've seen the kind of people we're up against?" Issei said pessimistically, feeling completely outmatched by the people who kidnapped Saki.

"Those people are from the Onibara group, and the one who took Miss Saki is Yakushi Ryoji," Keiko explained, revealing their identities.

Issei's body immediately trembled in fear as he knew a little about the Onibara group, whose name was infamous in the underworld and among delinquents. After all, he and some of his friends at Asahi Café were former delinquents.

"If we try to save Saki, it's the same as handing over our lives to them," Issei said, shaking.

Outburst full of anger and frustration, Ryuji caught Issei's collar tightly.

"Don't forget, Saki is your fiancée. You should be trying to save her, not being such a coward like this. Where'd your courage and honor go, Issei?"

Issei pushed Ryuji's hand away roughly. "I love Saki, but I love my own life more," he selfishly answered, thinking only of himself. Without saying a word, Rika punched Issei with all her strength, and this time, Issei fell unconscious.

"Jerk!" Rika cursed harshly.

Everyone was shocked by Rika's unexpected action. She was surprisingly strong for a woman, especially Fujin, who was stunned by Rika's punch. From now on, he'd have to watch his behavior around Rika if he didn't want to get punched like that.

"What Issei-san said and worried about isn't entirely wrong, but he shouldn't have acted like that, especially since Miss Saki is his fiancée," Keiko said, disappointed by Issei's behavior.

"Let's not talk about that jerk anymore. What are we going to do to save Saki?" Ryuji asked, looking extremely annoyed.

"I have a solution to this problem," Keiko said, sounding like a breath of fresh air to everyone.

"What's your plan?" Arashi asked curiously.

"Just stay calm and trust me," Keiko replied confidently, with a wide smile.

Tetsuya's condition was said to be critical. Aside from his congenital heart disease since childhood, the long-term use of Tsuchihebi's painkillers had worsened his condition. In addition, he was already hurt from his battle with Hiroshi, which had made his newer wounds worse and nearly cost him his life. Luckily, the hits Tetsuya took never landed on a crucial spot, so he could still live.

"How is he, Aya-san?" Renji said nervously, glancing at the middle-aged doctor.

Aya sighed softly when she pulled off the mask from her face.

"Tetsuya should get a heart transplant urgently. If not, you'll have to prepare for his funeral," Aya answered seriously.

"Is his condition that bad?" Renji stared in disbelief at Aya, who was known as a brilliant doctor.

"Don't you know Tetsuya is in critical condition? Why are you still asking?" she said, annoyed as if he was blaming her for not treating Tetsuya correctly.

"How long does Tetsuya last?" Changing the subject again, Renji said.

"One month," Aya replied gloomily.

Right away, Renji's face was super shocked. Didn't you have said that he had three months left?" Why is the timeline suddenly so much shorter now?' Renji moaned to feel he was cheated.

"I did, but Tetsuya kept taking painkillers, and there's a bruise on his left chest from the blow. It's making his condition worse," Aya explained, equally emotional, not wanting to take all the blame.

"My God!" Renji sighed weakly.

Aya understood Renji's feelings, but there wasn't much she could do other than provide medication to prolong Tetsuya's life a little longer and ease his pain. "I understand this is difficult for you, but the only way to save him is with a transplant. There's no other way," Aya said sadly, stroking Renji's shoulder before walking away.

Renji clenched his hair with her hands. "How am I supposed to find someone with a compatible heart in such a short time?" Renji looked frustrated.

Amid his anxiety about Tetsuya's critical condition, Renji unexpectedly received shocking and emotionally draining news, the kidnapping of Saki by Yakushi Ryoji, the right-hand man of his grandfather. Whatever the old man was planning this time, it was likely that Tetsuya would be furious if he found out. He might even go on a rampage and destroy the Ishikawa mansion for trying to harm Saki.

"What else are you planning, old man?" Renji sighed weakly, exhausted by his grandfather's constant attempts to harm those close to him.

This time, Renji had to end everything to ensure nothing like this would happen in the future. The core of the problem wasn't Kaito but Yakushi Ryoji, the person who had been controlling Kaito like a puppet.
