Chapter 64: Chapter 63: Breaking Free

To project an imposing aura, one must first establish the right atmosphere.

Jiang Zuo had relied on the initial shock to build his imposing aura, leaving the Blood Demons too intimidated to speak.

But if his bluff were ever called, the atmosphere would shatter. He would be like a goofy husky that had wandered into a wolf pack.

Jiang Zuo was well aware of this, but he had never let it bother him.

Jiang Zuo had now arrived before the Array.

Normally, an average Blood Demon would have skirted the edges, but Jiang Zuo walked directly to the very center of the Array.

Blood Soil broke out in a cold sweat. ’The very center?’

He began to wonder if his master had even seen the Array.

That was where the blood-red light was most concentrated.

Avoiding the weakest point was one thing, but choosing the strongest? ’Is he blind?’

’Can’t you see it?’

As Jiang Zuo stood there, it wasn’t just Blood Soil; the other Blood Demons were shocked, and Xi Yu and her group grew tense.

If anything happened to Jiang Zuo, they would all die. Not a single one of them would escape.

Then, Jiang Zuo took a step. He planted his foot inside the Array without any superfluous movements or special effects to herald his advance.

He just stepped in, calm and ordinary.

Blood Soil and the others watched with wide eyes. In their minds, the man should have been instantly crushed to pieces.

Yet, when Jiang Zuo’s foot landed inside the Array, nothing happened. The Array remained the Array, and Jiang Zuo remained Jiang Zuo. There was no change.

Then, Jiang Zuo walked his entire body into the Array, which seemed to have no effect on him whatsoever.

"Is... is it fake? Is the Array broken?" a Blood Demon muttered in terror.

To Jiang Zuo, the Array seemed like a mere decoration. He moved within it as if it wasn’t even there. How was that possible?

"It’s a trick! The Array must be broken, it has to be!" With that, the Blood Demon charged in himself. The instant he touched the Array, however, a bloody light flashed.

"AAAAAAAH—" In a flash, the Blood Demon was reduced to a puddle of Blood Water.

At that moment, the way every Blood Demon looked at Jiang Zuo changed. Their gazes were now filled with awe, terror, and submission.

Blood Soil, for his part, was dumbfounded.

Even Liu Qianqian and her group were a little frightened.

’Just who is this man?’

Jiang Zuo looked back at Liu Qianqian’s group. "Keep up."

Liu Qianqian, holding Liu Qianqian, swallowed hard. Steeling herself, she stepped into the Array.

She had walked in fully expecting to die. The moment she entered the Array, however, she froze. ’Nothing happened. Absolutely nothing? Is this for real?’

"Fall behind, and you will die." With that, Jiang Zuo turned and continued forward.

Trembling with fear, Blood Soil and the others then stepped in. They, too, found that nothing happened.

In that instant, a sense of superiority washed over them. This was a path they could never have walked on their own. They could brag about this for half a year when they got back.

But the gazes they directed at Jiang Zuo grew even more reverent.

Xi Yu, watching from the side, saw it all clearly. This time, the Blood Demons were utterly convinced. No one would ever dare to question Jiang Zuo again.

For some reason, Xi Yu found herself thinking how utterly foolish she had been.

Even though she was Tier Two, and even if Jiang Zuo was only Tier One, she could no longer muster any thought of making an enemy of him.

In some respects, Jiang Zuo was already an existence far beyond her reach.

The Array wasn’t long, but Jiang Zuo walked slowly. He knew this Blood Demon Array like the back of his hand, but he still couldn’t quicken his pace. Every single step had to be on the correct spot, and paving the way for those behind him made it doubly difficult.

It was a feat few others could have accomplished.

Only Jiang Zuo himself knew the true difficulty. The people following him had no idea.

A short time later, Jiang Zuo and his group emerged from the Array. Many onlookers saw the Blood Demons behind him, their heads held high and chests puffed out, as if afraid no one would notice them.

They looked so proud you’d think they would start bragging about how fresh the air was inside the Array.

Just then, Jiang Zuo stopped. The Array was positioned at the entrance to a palace. The moment he stepped out, he felt a resonance—a vibration coming from within his Space Ring.

The resonance was growing stronger. If it continued, it would undoubtedly alert the entire palace.

"Seal." Without a moment’s hesitation, Jiang Zuo used his Innate Qi to place a Seal on the surface of the ring, cutting off the resonance.

Once the resonance was severed, Jiang Zuo ignored the others and started walking away. It would be troublesome if a minor leader showed up now.

Overplaying his hand would be detrimental.

Jiang Zuo passed through layer after layer of checkpoints without pause, and not a single Blood Demon dared to step forward and question him.

At last, Jiang Zuo walked out of the Blood Demon Base Camp and arrived at a construction site.

Jiang Zuo looked at the Blood Demons. "You can go back now."

Not daring to defy him in the slightest, the Blood Demons retreated. Blood Soil retreated with them.

Once the Blood Demons were gone, Jiang Zuo and his group departed quickly, only stopping once they had reached a safe location.

"That scared me to death! We actually made it out! I really thought we were done for. The Blood Demon Base Camp... I’m going to be bragging about this for ages," Liu Qianqian said excitedly.

Although she was still dazed, Liu Qianqian was also incredibly excited.

Who wouldn’t be thrilled to escape the villains’ main base alive, especially a child of about ten?

At this point, Jiang Zuo said, "Don’t celebrate just yet. Make the call and have someone come pick up the goods."

Jiang Zuo’s words reminded Liu Qianqian that she and the child were the core objective of the commission.

But she didn’t dare mess around anymore. Jiang Zuo was still a terrifying figure.

A moment later, Liu Qianqian was on the phone with Steward Liu. "Yes, yes, we’re out! Oh, it was that person, Po Xiao, who rescued us. Look, never mind how it happened, just hurry and come get us."

"Let’s make the exchange. We’ve been trapped for a day, and Qianqian and I are exhausted."

"We’re about to pass out."

After hanging up, Liu Qianqian said to Jiang Zuo, "Steward Liu should be here in about ten minutes. Should we go sit somewhere?"

"Mm."

Jiang Zuo replied, his mind elsewhere.

As soon as he was out, his phone had started vibrating nonstop. When he finally took it out to look, he saw dozens of missed calls from Su Qi.

Jiang Zuo was speechless. "..." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

’What’s going on?’

After a moment’s hesitation, Jiang Zuo decided not to call her back right away. He’d wait until things here were resolved.

Then, Jiang Zuo scrolled through the "Perception No. 1" group chat. It seemed most of the members had met up and were planning to sneak out together.

Staying inside any longer was pointless; a successful escape was all that mattered. Failure meant losing half their reward, and they now understood just how difficult it was to obtain the items mentioned in their commissions.

The Perception No. 1 chat seemed normal, so Jiang Zuo didn’t pay it much more mind.

However, he saw someone in the chat mention that the Saintess and her group planned to sneak out with them, which displeased him greatly.

It was letting the Holy Land off too easily.

Because of Jiu Xi, Jiang Zuo felt that everyone from the Holy Land deserved to die.

Still, he felt a flicker of anticipation. His Misfortune Coin was ready and waiting for them to take the bait.
