Chapter 209: Chapter 203: And Then Get Assassinated Together?

"What... do you mean?" Kevin Whitlock’s expression tensed instantly.

Alvin Morgan took the teacup from Aurora Sinclair and glanced at Beta Morgan. "Investigate everyone who entered the mountain last night. Focus on the cars..."

Kevin Whitlock’s face darkened. "Alvin Morgan, are you suspecting the Martial Affairs Bureau?"

"Are you nervous?" Alvin Morgan asked faintly, blowing on the tea in his cup.

Kevin Whitlock froze for a moment before clenching his fists. "What’s there for me to be nervous about? I have a clear conscience." With a grim face, he prepared to storm off.

Suddenly, Aurora Sinclair moved quickly to block his path. Kevin’s heart tightened, and he instinctively took a step back. "What are you doing?"

Aurora Sinclair watched him silently for a moment, her gaze shifting to his arm. "You smell like blood."

Kevin Whitlock reflexively put his arm behind his back, asking warily, "And so what?"

"Are you injured? Or did you save someone who was seriously hurt?" Alvin Morgan asked, his tone seemingly nonchalant.

Kevin Whitlock’s brows knitted together. He rolled up his sleeve and showed it to Alvin Morgan. "I almost hit someone on my way here and fell."

His muscular arm was hastily wrapped in a layer of white bandages, with a patch of dark red soaking through.

"There’s a limit to your accusations. Hmph..." Kevin Whitlock huffed coldly, his face grim, and strode out.

Aurora Sinclair watched him for a moment, then turned and sat back down beside Alvin Morgan.

"Interested in the investigation?" Alvin Morgan asked.

Aurora Sinclair nodded. ’That person was after Sunstone.’

Two hours later, a body was discovered in a secluded men’s restroom in Maple Valley. The corpse was already cold, dressed in a black uniform, foaming at the mouth, and its face was blue. The cause of death appeared to be poisoning.

Alvin Morgan, wearing gloves, was about to go inside. Aurora Sinclair started to follow, but Kevin Whitlock blocked her.

"This is a murder scene. She can’t go in."

Alvin Morgan didn’t want Aurora Sinclair to see the scene inside either, so he turned and said, "Aurora, go to the park’s security monitoring room."

Aurora Sinclair nodded, then glanced back at Kevin Whitlock, her lips pressed tightly together.

The series of murders enraged the top brass at the Martial Affairs Bureau. All of Kingsford was put on high alert, with strict security checks for anyone entering or leaving the city. The number of police, special forces, and Martial Affairs Bureau agents on the streets increased significantly.

Everyone assumed it was because The Martial Alliance was about to hold its first freestyle fighting competition in Kingsford.

"Aurora... Aurora... The professor is calling you..."

Zoning out, Aurora Sinclair suddenly felt the light in front of her dim.

She looked up blankly to see Erin Archer smiling at her.

"Our star student isn’t quite with us today. Don’t tell me some boy confessed his feelings to you?"

Aurora Sinclair’s cheeks flushed red. She shook her head and stood up to apologize to Erin Archer.

Erin Archer chuckled in reply. "Come to my office in a bit. I have something to discuss with you."

Aurora Sinclair nodded.

Beside her, Seth Sterling asked with a worried look, "Aurora, are you okay? Are you worried about DAF’s King of Night?"

Aurora Sinclair paused, taken aback.

Seth Sterling pulled out his phone to show her. "The media loves to exaggerate. He was just grazed by a motorcycle and needs to be in the hospital for a few days. Look, DAF issued a clarification."

On the phone was the latest announcement from the official DAF website.

"We thank all our fans for their concern for the King of Night. He is fine now. See you at the next match in Rhovan."

Aurora Sinclair paused, then pulled out her phone to check the DAF group chat, which she hadn’t looked at in a long time.

There were over 999 unread messages.

Seth Sterling glanced over and asked in surprise, "Aurora, you’re in the fan group too?"

Aurora Sinclair nodded and turned off her phone screen.

"I’m in several groups, too. I’ll add you in a bit. They’re all fans of Master Rory. We’re even planning to go to Rhovan as a group on Saturday to see the match..."

Once DAF came up, it was like Seth Sterling had opened a floodgate. He talked on and on, and Aurora Sinclair passively listened to a torrent of praise.

"Aurora, are you going to Rhovan this week? If you are, we can book our tickets together."

Aurora Sinclair shook her head. "Don’t. Master Rory isn’t competing this week."

"Really? Where’d you hear that?" Seth Sterling whispered in astonishment.

’The organizers haven’t said a word. How would Aurora Sinclair know?’

Aurora Sinclair thought for a moment before replying, "Inside information. I can’t say more..."

"Seriously?" Seth Sterling was still skeptical.

Aurora Sinclair nodded gravely. "Don’t book the tickets."

「After class.」

Aurora Sinclair followed Erin Archer to her office.

She pulled a project application form from a drawer and asked with a smile, "Professor Gregory Sherman has been telling me he wants you to join that national-level project he’s running. This is his application form. Aurora, what are your thoughts on it?"

Aurora Sinclair glanced at the form and shook her head. "I don’t have time lately."

"He said he’d only need you on weekends."

Aurora Sinclair shook her head again, then pulled an application form from her bag and placed it on the desk.

"Professor, I’d like to apply for an attendance exemption. Morgan said as long as I take the exams and score at least 90, I can be excused from attending classes."

Meanwhile, at the College of Physics, Benjamin Morgan was also applying for Aurora Sinclair’s attendance exemption.

Chester Greene was shocked. Clutching the form, he asked, "What sort of scheme is your master cooking up now?"

"The master is taking Aurora abroad."

"Abroad? Does he have a death wish!" Chester Greene instantly grew anxious.

’People are constantly trying to assassinate Alvin Morgan even here in Veridia, let alone overseas! With so many hostile forces out there wanting him dead, how many lives does he think he has?’

Benjamin Morgan pushed up his glasses, his voice indifferent. "That’s why he’s taking Aurora with him."

"So they can get assassinated together?"

At DAF Headquarters, Arthur Lockwood felt like his head was about to split in two. The King of Night had just been in an accident, and now Master Rory wasn’t coming. He’d heard she was going to be absent for the entire regular season, all the way until the playoffs.

It was a bolt from the blue.

"No way! Aurora has to compete in this match. The King of Night might not be back by Saturday. Besides, the guy who hit him was your master’s cousin..." Arthur Lockwood yelled into his phone, causing Flynn Morgan to shake his head.

’Once his master decided something, who could change his mind?’

Sure enough, the call was disconnected.

"Flynn Morgan, your master is the worst! This is unacceptable. I’m going to tell on him to the old man!" Arthur Lockwood stomped his foot, phone in hand.

"The old man isn’t here," Flynn Morgan replied sympathetically.

"Where did he go?"

"He took his wife on vacation."

"..."

’Why do the men of the Morgan Family love taking their wives on vacation so much?’

"You’re not leaving too, are you?" Arthur Lockwood grabbed Flynn Morgan’s arm, looking at him pitifully.

Flynn Morgan shook his head helplessly. "The master had me stay behind."

"So he does have a heart after all..."

"But I’m to go replace Benjamin Morgan immediately after this match."

"..."

’Morgan the Skinner. All he knows is how to exploit people.’

Elsewhere, after applying for her attendance exemption, Aurora Sinclair called Elias Lennox at the hospital.

A pitiful voice came from the other end of the line. "Senior, you finally remembered me. I’ve called you several times, but you always reject it..."

Aurora Sinclair looked at her call history, confused. There were no calls from him.

"Did you block my number?" Elias Lennox asked with a smirk, crossing his legs on the hospital bed while a nurse changed his dressing.

Aurora Sinclair checked her blocklist and, sure enough, Elias Lennox’s name was there, along with Arthur Lockwood, Ethan Lowell, Darius Lynch, and the numbers of a few other boys she had recently added.

’Huh? Can my phone automatically block numbers?’

"I’ll unblock you."

Elias Lennox: ...

’She actually blocked me?’

’This has a certain someone’s handiwork written all over it.’

"Senior, I’m craving some bone broth..."
