Geralt was a middle aged man, someone who looked to be in his early 50s. He was rather tall with a good, muscular build that wasn’t overly buff. He had purplish black hair and two sharp purple eyes that seemed to cut through metal with a glance. His face had a large scar crossing it from his forehead down to his jaw that made him appear even more menacing than he already did.
He was clad in casual clothes, indicating that he had just arrived back at the estate and immediately went to the meeting.
Everyone there immediately looked down in reverence, except for two, Fiona and Virg,o who simply stared at him with cold eyes.
"Thank you all for coming here today." He said as he walked over to his seat at the head of the table and sat down, crossing his arms.
"I have invited you all here today for news that had just occurred yesterday." He said. His voice was very deep, to the point where they felt it in their bones. "It had come to my knowledge that an intruder had entered our territory without our knowledge."
"An intruder?" Brutus muttered, a bit taken aback.
The rest looked at one another as if trying to see if anyone knew what he was talking about.
The man stared at the masses for a moment before his eyes moved to Fiona. "How is your injury, Fiona? Did you recover well?"
"Injury? What...?"
"Yeah," Fiona replied coldly.
"Care to tell us what happened then?" He asked.
Fiona stared at him silently for a good few seconds before she sighed and started speaking. "I had been attacked in the southern forest earlier yesterday by a Vampire Noble." She said.
"Wait, what?!"
Immediately, the entire place erupted with a strong reaction. No one could hold back their shock, even in the presence of Geralt.
"Oh my god, did you hear that, Yumi?"
"Yes, Lumi. This is shocking."
"Which bastard dared to attack you, Lady Fiona?! I will rip him apart!" Brutus slammed his hand on the table.
Meanwhile, Virgo sat there, his eyes closed as if he didn’t have any relation to the matter.
"Why were you in that forest?" He asked.
"Training," Fiona replied coldly.
The man squinted his eyes for a second before he nodded his head. His daughter does go there often to train, so that wasn’t completely abnormal. However, for some reason, he felt like there was something amiss. Like she was hiding something from him.
"He had his face covered, so I couldn’t see anything. But what I’m certain of is that he’s extremely strong. At the very least, a Noble to a High Noble rank, maybe even a Duke." She said. "I wasn’t able to put up a fight, and he delivered a deadly blow before I could even react."
"A duke? What the hell... What the hell?" Brutus rubbed his head. He had only heard of Vampires of that rank and had never seen one before with his own eyes.
Vampire Dukes were the highest order of Vampires in existence. They were the most dangerous enemies humanity faced. Their strength was practically invincible, to the point where not a single human had killed a Duke before in history. At least not in a 1v1 battle and even then, it was up for debate whether humanity was able to kill a Duke before or not in ancient battles.
Either way, the news that a vampire of that ranking or even lower had appeared in their territory was an emergency.
"This is really bad, my lord. If what Lady Fiona said is true, then this is a clear attack on our interests." A man said as he looked at Geralt. "We must find this intruder."
"Do you really think they would stay around? He probably vanished completely long ago." Another replied. "It will be impossible for us to track them down if they aren’t in our territory still."
"So what do you suggest then? That we just stay silent to such blatant disrespect? Attacking Lady Fiona is an act of war, and we cannot simply stay silent. Isn’t that correct, my lord?"
As the group started arguing against one another, with each side being for or against taking action against this attack, Geralt simply sat there, staring at Fiona.
"Can you describe any interesting features about this vampire, Fiona?" The man asked. "Something that piqued your interest."
His words were calm and sharp, almost like he figured something out and only needed confirmation.
"Hm, his body was covered in a layer of dark energy that stopped any possible aura from taking information about him. His sword was also made from this same exact dark energy, and it is incredibly strong and sharp." She said.
’Dark energy.’ Geralt frowned subtly.
"Did he say anything to you?"
"No," Fiona replied. "He attacked me and left me to die until Alfred found me bleeding."
Fiona naturally hid the fact that she was there with Elio and that she had been with Elio that entire time. His identity was still a complete secret, and she planned to keep it that way for a while longer. However, she was certain that her father would come to know of his existence at some point, so she wanted to make him as strong as possible beforehand so he has a chance at protecting himself.
"Hm. Understood, Marcus. I want you to dispatch a group to the place where Fiona was injured. I want you to investigate it and look for any possible traces the vampire left behind."
"Understood, my lord."
"I have a hunch he won’t be leaving for long. Judging from his behavior, he didn’t come here to merely attack you and leave; he is trying to send a message. As for what that message is, we will see soon."
Geralt spoke in a certain tone, as if he knew how this vampire thought without ever meeting him. Yet, no one there doubted for a second that he was correct. This man had singlehandedly killed millions of vampires with his own hands and caused great terror to them.
Even the Vampire Nobles feared him and didn’t want to mess with him for his great power.
"As for you, Virgo, you know what to do." He turned to the boy sitting next to him. "Take care of it and let me know what you find."
The boy finally opened his eyes and then nodded and left the room casually. Fiona gave him a brief glance on the way without saying a word.
"As for you, Fiona. Come to my office later. I need to talk to you in private." He said.
"..." The girl didn’t nod or react, but she acknowledged his words.
"Now, for the second matter that I brought you all for. The summit is going to occur in 4 months. However, this time, it seems things are going to be different."
"Different?" Yumi tilted her head. "What does he mean, Lumi?"
"I don’t know, Yumi."
"I have received some information that the ’Historic Deal’ is about to be finalized and it will be announced at the summit in a few months."
"What?"
"Huh?"
"My lord?"
Everyone was shocked beyond reason. Even Fiona, who didn’t understand at first, stared up, her eyes widening slowly.
The Historic deal. A word she hadn’t heard in ages. Yet, it had somehow come back in the most unexpected way possible.
