Chapter 76- New Life (Part 3)

Fiona sighed inwardly when she heard that. That was the last thing she needed at that moment, even more attention on her. However, she knew this person well, and so his behavior was not shocking in the least.

Before she could even turn around again to see, she heard him stomp his way toward her until he was standing next to the table.

"It has been a while, Lady Fiona. My apologies for my previous words. I wasn’t told that you would be attending this meeting." He said with the most respectful tone he could muster. However, his brutish and excited nature still leaked in without him realizing.

"It has been a while, Brutus." She said with a tired look on her face. This was Brutus Vaylor, her cousin from her father’s side. He was a bit older than her and considered quite a strong talent. However, he was also known for being short-tempered and reckless, so he didn’t have much say in the family aside from being directly blood-related to the main branch.

He probably arrived to represent his father and mother, who were far more important.

"How is your mother doing?" Fiona asked.

"Oh, she’s doing great. She had gone out on a hunting trip a few days ago, and she should be back tomorrow." He replied with an innocent smile on his face.

"That’s good."

"Ummm, may I know why we have all been summoned so suddenly? Did something happen?" He asked.

"We will see," Fiona replied. Take a seat."

Her words were harsh and cold, but they didn’t seem to reach the man, who nodded and sat down with a loud thump, then crossed his arms.

A few moments later, the door opened again, and two people walked in.

"Rrrrr, so cold... Are you feeling cold, Yumi?"

"Y-Yes, *Achu*, are you also feeling cold, Lumi?"

There were two girls, barely Fiona’s age, who looked completely identical. With short black hair and rather small stature, they appeared quite innocent and friendly at first glance. However, these were Yumi and Lumi Vaylor, the infamous Vampire Hunter twins who were ten years older than Fiona.

Their mere entrance shifted the entire atmosphere again as everyone’s expression turned even more sour. The more important famous faces they saw, the more they realized how brutally serious this situation is.

Even in previous emergency situations, they didn’t see this many important figures in the clan summoned all at the same time. Something bad had happened, and they still didn’t know what it was, which made it even more confusing.

The two girls walked deeper into the room and sat near Fiona. They didn’t speak much with her and merely gave her a nod of acknowledgement.

’It seems that the old man has been perturbed by the news to invite everyone.’ Fiona scoffed inwardly. ’It is rare to see him this threatened.’

However, deep down, she knew why he was behaving this way. No Vampire had dared to blatantly attack a Vaylor within their territory. They were not stupid enough to do such a thing, and if someone dared to do that, then they were either fools or a threat so great that her father could not simply ignore. His bets were on the latter.

’What is he planning?’ She pursed her lips. A rather dangerous feeling filled her heart, and she didn’t know why.

Then... Everything changed in one single instance. A single moment that completely submerged that room in quiet chaos. A moment, even Fiona, who was ready to see anyone walk through that door, didn’t expect to see ’that’ face of all people.

As the door was pushed open, the entire room’s temperature dropped several degrees, almost reaching a freezing point. Everyone felt a shudder run down their spine. Their expressions darkened for a second, expecting some sort of attack.

However, that wariness turned into shock when they saw the person who walked in.

White.

If one word would describe him perfectly, then it would be that word... Completely white from head to toe. The young man was so white that he was almost reflecting light. His short hair was white, his eyes, eyebrows, and eyelashes were also white like snow. Even his eyes were of a white color.

He was clad in white clothes to fully blend in with his features. The young man was strikingly handsome with sharp yet soft features at the same time. He also had a soothing look and a very odd yet comforting aura.

’That...’ Fiona’s eyes widened slightly before she returned to normal. ’Hah... Inviting him? You bastard... You old bastard.’

She felt quiet rage build up within her as she turned away. A sense of anger and hatred threatened to leak out of her body. She couldn’t believe her father would do such a thing, knowing she was there. She was certain he made sure to invite him because she was there to anger her.

Virgo Vaylor.

A name not many in the Vaylor clan themselves know. He was a person shrouded in mystery, only appearing rarely. Yet, those who knew him knew that he was perhaps the third most important person in the entire clan, behind the patriarch and Fiona herself.

A young man with power so immense that he is considered one of the strongest talents in the world. Yet, little is known about his powers. Only a few saw him in action before, and that was more than enough to create rumors about him.

He was almost like a mystical figure within the clan. His appearance, however, was a first of its kind. He had never been summoned to these meetings before, so his presence simply sent the alarm signs off the charts.

If what they assumed before was a threat, they were certain now that it was a disaster of the largest scale.

"Virgo..." Brutus muttered. "I haven’t seen you in ages, brother. How are you?" Even he found himself speaking in a quieter tone than before.

Virgo turned to stare at him, his gaze completely supernatural. Then, he walked in without saying another word and sat down in the chair closest to the main chair where the patriarch would sit.

His presence erased all the noise in the room, and everyone finally sat down, deciding not to try to make this situation worse.

However, the awkward silence after that was simply unbearable for any normal human being.

The patriarch hadn’t arrived yet, so nobody wanted to speak. Minutes passed like that with no sign of the patriarch. Fiona checked the time twice during it, and while there was still a minute before the meeting time, she was certain her father was going to appear at any moment.

Then, as if to confirm her thoughts, the door opened for a fourth time and this time... It was completely different than the others. It was different than Brutus, the Yumi and Lumi twins, and even Fiona herself.

The aura that spread throughout the room before the man walked in spoke one word... Terror.

There was no other way to put it; it was a terrifying aura meant to deliver the strongest feeling of fear and reverence possible. Everyone there felt like pounds of weights were added to their shoulders. Their entire bodies were shaking, and their ears were ringing, announcing the arrival of the strongest man in the clan and one of the strongest Vampire Hunters this world has ever seen.

Geralt Vaylor entered the room.
