My Vampire Wives Want My Blood!-Chapter 45- Blood Absorption
Chapter 45- Blood Absorption
"Wait, what?" Elio blinked. "You’re not... mad?" He asked in disbelief. He was ready to hear harsh scolding for doing such a reckless thing. He knew that Fiona had taken responsibility for him, and his grandmother herself had told her to keep him safe. Fiona was a very serious person and someone who took promises like life or death. So, when he put his life on the line, she felt like she had failed her role on the first day.
Yet, surprisingly, she didn’t seem that angry. In fact, aside from the small bit of scolding, she seemed completely fine.
"I am mad. But, seeing how you were ready to save that person even though you knew you could die... That is something I admire." She said as she looked away.
"..."
Elio was completely speechless. That subtle change in her tone was more than enough to tell him that she felt something different. Perhaps she wasn’t too mad after all.
"But, don’t do this again. Most likely, a vampire hunter was on the way here. Casualties happen often, but we are keeping a tight control of the city." She said.
"H-How do you hide these murders from people? I almost never heard of a case like this before in my life." Elio said. For a city this big and for the constant danger, Elio had never heard of someone dying ’in mysterious manner’.
"We always have one of two options when a casualty happens. We either paint it as a normal death in normal circumstances or the harder task, which is to wipe their existence from people’s minds."
"Wipe their existence? Like... No one would know they even existed?"
"Yes. It is not the recommended method, but in some cases, we have to resort to that. I know that it sounds cruel. But we cannot let this world know of the existence of vampires. That will cause far more disasters than anyone could imagine. It is a better world for everyone when they simply don’t know." She said.
"..." Elio slowly looked down. "I see..."
The idea did sound cruel, and for a second, he felt that it was unfair for the family of the person who died. Losing someone and not even having the right to remember them is a horrible end to someone’s life. Their name is wiped from history forever, and it was... gut-wrenching.
But he understood Fiona. This world was cruel, and these vampires were going to kill more and more people. If it comes to the public knowledge that there are human-eating monsters that look like humans living amongst them, that would cause a worldwide panic that would return the world to the Plague days or even worse, perhaps.
"In any case, the ’Cleaning Squad’ is on the way; they will handle the rest of the matter. We are about to leave." She said as she extended her hand to Elio. The latter took it and stood up.
"But, before we do that, since you have killed a vampire before telling me." Fiona glared at him for a second before looking at the corpse.
"Ehem..."
"We might as well take advantage of it."
"Advantage?"
"Yes. You are going to absorb its blood. This is your first kill, and you have earned it."
"Eh, I can do that? Is it really fine?"
"Well, only individuals with the Hunter Permit are allowed to hunt and absorb blood. But, I decided you will absorb its blood, so that’s what will happen." She said calmly, as if it was not that big of a deal. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
’S-So cool...’ Elio blinked as he watched her approach the dead vampire.
"Hm, you have done quite the job on it."
"I didn’t know when to stop, so... I kept hitting it until I couldn’t do it anymore."
"How were you able to keep it from moving?"
"Ummm... I don’t know. It just seemingly lost control for a second, and then I was able to take advantage of that." He said. ’That look on its face. That was probably because it sucked some of my blood, and it caused it to lose control...’
It reminded him of how Melissa reacted to his blood when she took a taste of it. That was probably the same thing.
"Hm, I see." Fiona squinted for a second before she shook her head. "Anyway, let me show you how to do it." She said. "You get close to your target, and then you put your hand on them."
"Yes."
"Then, imagine yourself absorbing their blood, and your body will know instinctively what to do. It isn’t hard."
Elio nodded his head and approached the vampire. Crouching down, he put his hand on its chest. Then, he closed his eyes and imagined ’absorption’. He didn’t know what to think exactly, but he still just did his best.
Surprisingly, it worked instantly as he felt his blood energy moving toward his hand and condensing there. A second later, he felt it entering the vampire’s body before it started sucking the energy out of it in large gulps.
A wave of immense strength washed over him. The intense feeling felt like a wave of energy sweeping him without him realizing.
"Whoa!" He gasped. "What... is this feeling?"
’So much energy is entering my body. It feels so strong!’
His muscles, bones, and every cell in his being absorbed the energy happily and greedily as if they were famished. The absorption continued for several seconds until Elio didn’t feel any more energy entering his body.
[You have gained +5 points in all of your stats.]
Opening his eyes, he saw the notification in front of him. His eyes widened. "I have gained +5 points in all my stats."
"..." Fiona looked at him blankly.
"Ehhhh, this must be a lot, right? I mean, I feel so much stronger on every single level."
Without even looking at himself, Elio felt lighter, stronger, and his senses were considerably sharper than before. Everything about him seemingly changed in a single second.
"That is... a lot of points."
’5 points in every stat? I am... Not even shocked anymore.’ Fiona muttered, almost in complete disbelief. She wasn’t even going to bother to understand Elio anymore. He was an anomaly so ridiculous that common sense would only make her go crazy if she used it on him.
"Haha, I feel a lot better now." Elio laughed as he stood up. "I am feeling really good!"
Seeing his excited expression, Fiona sighed and stood up. ’If you only knew how absurd you are, Elio. I don’t know if your smile will remain or fade... But, perhaps, this is a blessing that you don’t know anything.’
If he truly knew, then perhaps the Elio she knows now will be no more, and that... oddly wasn’t something she liked. Seeing his innocent smile and his carefree attitude, it was like a breath of fresh air in this enclosed and suffocating world.
The rarest talent in this entire world was a boy who had no idea about anything. It was almost poetic.
"Let’s go before everyone reaches this place." She said. "I will bring you back home."
"Understood!"
With that, the duo walked out of the classroom and left the entire building as if nothing had happened. At the same time, several silhouettes appeared inside, clad in complete darkness.
