Chapter 126: Setting It All Up

Percival was dressed similarly to Ethan but in his favorite ash color, finding himself comfortable wearing Ethan’s clothes since he hadn’t bothered going back home just yet.

Eduardo stood on the other side of the table with Valerie quietly by his side, observing everything with sharp attention.

And then there was Joe Sanderberg, the summon, who was the one giving the explanation.

Isabella and Rayleigh also knew the one explaining was a summon belonging to Ethan.

Actually, Joe was only retelling the group what he had already told Ethan earlier about the League’s hideouts across the country. But now he was being more practical about it, pointing at different parts of the map as he circled specific locations with a pen.

"Here, here, and here," Joe said, marking three distinct points on the map. "These are hideouts. To be more specific, they are all Lucien’s. They used to belong to men who have long passed, which Lucien acquired in his name."

He paused for a moment before continuing. "The caster Martina has prepared relocation spells ahead of time so that at any moment’s notice, the League can mass jump into any of these places."

Isabella’s eyes narrowed slightly as realization dawned on her face. "That explains it," she said. "When the Imperial Guard went after the League at that casino, they suddenly disappeared. Now it makes more sense why."

Joe nodded in confirmation.

Isabella leaned forward slightly and added, "And the way you described it, she has to make early preparations for that level of teleportation spell, is that correct?"

Joe nodded again. "Yes," he said. "But I don’t know what those preparations are exactly. I only know that she can teleport them as a large group within these three houses."

Isabella nodded thoughtfully.

Joe continued, "But since there’s an Order of Pro Nostris placed on you..." He gestured toward Ethan. "The League wouldn’t stay in these other two places since they’re quite far from this city." He pointed at two parts of the map which were marked in different cities far from Grayfort City itself. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Then he tapped one location with his finger. "Which leaves you with just this place."

"Hm..." Eduardo muttered. "That should be the abandoned house of the Clyn family before they were run out of town a few decades ago."

Joe nodded in agreement. "Yes it is, but Lucien acquired it. Also, for more references..." He went on to describe what the other two places looked like.

While Joe gave details to the description, Ethan, who shared a bond link with him, could tell what they looked like with more vivid clarity.

One was an overgrown mansion with weathered wooden exterior and ivy creeping up its walls.

The other was a large brick estate with Gothic architecture and a prominent tower.

Rayleigh, who had a sword strapped to his side while crossing both his arms, spoke up then: "How do we know they’re definitely in this other place?"

Joe replied calmly, "Whatever location the League chooses to jump to is always cloaked by either Martina or Greta. So when you arrive at or over this point..." He tapped the marked area again for emphasis. "You should see absolutely nothing there at all. You may send someone to scout first and confirm this if you want."

Then he raised one hand as if cautioning them about something important and added: "However, that scout should not get within a thousand-meter radius of this point."

He took the pen and reshaded an area around that specific point on the map, marking out a wide perimeter clearly so everyone could see exactly what he meant.

"Why?" Isabella asked with genuine puzzlement in her voice.

Ethan answered before Joe could respond: "Because the casters he spoke of set up detection barrier spells around their compounds wherever they go. And if anyone enters within their radius range, those inside the house would be alerted immediately. The casters themselves would know exactly how many intruders there are."

There was a pause before he added more: "If those unwanted persons happen to be people the League refuses to deal with or those they intend to run from entirely, Martina would just use her relocation spell again and move them all instantly to any of those other prepared houses."

Rayleigh frowned deeply at that revelation and asked again, "How then are we supposed to engage these people if they have methods already in place to know we’re coming?"

Percival quickly jumped in with an answer: "I say we sandwich them three ways." He gestured broadly across the map as he spoke enthusiastically. "We here take one house." Then he turned toward Rayleigh directly and added: "You tell your Imperial Guard buddies to split themselves into two groups and cover those other houses instead."

He grinned confidently as though he’d just solved a major problem.

Joe stared at Percival with an openly disappointed look on his face.

Ethan sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose briefly. What Percival had suggested sounded logical enough in theory, but it wasn’t practicable in reality, and everyone else around this table knew it.

Isabella answered Percival in a patient tone. "It’ll take a while to convince the General, which would also need my father’s permission after explaining all of this to him."

Joe then added, "There’s also another thing. The Imperial Guard may have personnel numbers, but in truth, they lack the real quality of strength to be divided up against the main members of the League."

There was a pause as he continued, "Aside from the General and his three high-ranking officers, the rest do not compare so closely."

The Tudors looked at Joe in such a way that made them wonder how he knew this part, as not a lot of people outside the palace were aware of the hierarchy within the Imperial Guard.

Ethan then said to them both, "Their group sort of knows how the King’s army works."

Rayleigh shot him a suspicious glare immediately. "And now you too?"

Ethan looked at him with a puzzled expression, and Isabella turned up to face her brother, wondering where that tone had come from.

There was an awkward pause before Ethan redirected the conversation. He turned toward Rayleigh and said, "To answer your question on how we enter without alerting them..."

Ethan began explaining quite a few things to them then. He walked them through the approach step by step, pointing at specific locations on the map as he spoke.

He explained how they’d disable the barrier spell first before moving in. Then, he mentioned using Joe’s long-range capabilities from well outside the detection radius.

He outlined which summons would be deployed where and at what time. Then he talked about timing, positioning, and contingencies if things went sideways.
