My Ultimate OP System: Summoning All Dragons, Gods, Heroes & Villains-Chapter 118: But He Reeks Of Demon
"I also wanted to tell you," Isabella continued, "that I was able to convince the general, and he had some of the Imperial Guard go after this League of Assassins."
"Oh?" Ethan said. "Somehow he didn’t involve your father?"
Isabella shook her head. "He said he won’t, just this once. And that was after I convinced him I wasn’t actually the target."
They exchanged a few more words between them, but while they did, Rayleigh, who still had his hand over his nose, had this dangerous glare fixed on Ethan as well.
It was true that for a human, his abnormally sensitive sense of smell could pick things up like vampires, wolves, or any other supernatural with heightened senses.
However, with the little amount of time he had spent in the demon continent, his sense of smell had also come to pick up on one other thing.
The strong scent of demons.
And right before him wasn’t like the ordinary ones he and the crew killed a lot of times during their expedition of the demon continent.
This was one of the powerful ones, which is why the stench was so strong.
However, one of the only reasons Rayleigh wasn’t reacting violently right now was because, based on his understanding, this person was Ethan Stark.
Son of the then-known business tycoon, Nathan Stark, who had lived in this country for a long time without incident.
Secondly, despite the fact he knew that most of their kind were absolute savages, Rayleigh had also come to understand that a few demons lived in this part of the world, and they weren’t all bad. In fact, he had a rather personal experience of that as well.
However, he wondered if his sister knew that Ethan was a demon.
In his conversation with Isabella, Ethan had felt the stare and turned briefly in his direction, but Rayleigh turned his gaze away.
Ethan himself paid no serious attention to it as he turned back to the princess.
Their conversation eventually came to an end, and Isabella said to him, "I’ll let you know what the outcome is when I get home. I bet they’ve probably gotten a hold of them, or at least some of them."
Ethan nodded. "Thanks."
Isabella lifted herself up slightly and kissed him on the lips. When she pulled apart, Ethan motioned his eyes toward Rayleigh’s direction, as if trying to say, your brother’s looking.
Isabella rolled her eyes in a way that said, oh please. Then she turned around, giving Ethan one last look as she went back into the car.
Eventually, they rode out of the compound.
On their way back, Rayleigh said casually, "You know your boyfriend isn’t human, right?"
Isabella turned to him with an almost surprised look. But she said, "Yeah. How did you know?"
Rayleigh, whose left hand was on the wheel, tapped his right finger on his nose and said, "Well, it’s the nose."
Isabella looked more surprised. "Your nose can tell you he’s human-dragon?"
Rayleigh turned to her for a brief second, then turned back to the windscreen and whispered, "Oh, I see."
"What is it?" Isabella asked, still with a puzzled expression.
Rayleigh said nothing at first, then smiled and joked, "Yes, my nose can tell he’s a dragon hybrid."
Isabella rolled her eyes and turned away.
Rayleigh gave another look one more time. She really didn’t know about the demon part, and he perfectly hid his surprise about knowing that Ethan wasn’t a human-dragon hybrid.
But a demon-dragon one.
——
Not long after, Ethan headed upstairs to freshen up for a bit. It was then he heard some noise down the hallway in another room. He could hear cats screaming and Albedo’s excited voice.
He sighed and headed over to the place, opening the door into one of the large rooms to see Rue sitting quietly on the bed, watching as Albedo crouched on all fours.
The demon summon had her tail swishing behind her, her claws flexing on the floor as she stared with deadly, predatory intent at one of Rue’s cats.
The black cat had its back arched, fur standing on end, and was frozen in a tense stance, ready to leap away at the slightest movement.
"Come here!" Albedo said with a grin, pouncing toward it.
The cat sprang away to another corner in a blur of motion. Albedo vanished into a burst of smoke and reappeared at that exact point a second later, but the cat dodged her again, landing gracefully atop a dresser.
Albedo growled playfully and crouched again, ready for another lunge.
Ethan shook his head, took a look at Rue and the other cat beside her, which sat calmly on the bed. They were both staring at Albedo.
"Hm," he muttered, then turned away as he said, "Albedo, keep the noise down, please."
——
Much later, it was night at the manor...
Ethan and Eduardo were sitting in the living room, and it seemed they were in discussion regarding how the day at Stark Industries went.
They had completed saber training about an hour ago.
Percival was at the dining table, having the time of his life digging into a bowl of chicken that Miss Francesca had come to give him extra servings of.
Percival said something to appreciate her cooking and added, "It’s always the best part of being here."
Francesca smiled and asked, "And how is my lovely Hayley?"
Percival grinned. "She’s doing whatever Hayley does at home, but I spoke to her, and she’ll be coming here to pick me up tomorrow morning."
Francesca’s smile widened, and she returned to the kitchen.
Then Valerie entered, holding a bag in her hand. Inside this bag were several cylindrical stone totems, each one with marked runes along their surfaces.
As she walked over to Ethan and Eduardo, Percival, who had turned in her direction by chance, couldn’t help but notice the fat bum behind her.
And he stared in genuine amazement. "Bruh..." he whispered.
Valerie inclined her head when she reached Ethan and Eduardo and said, "Master Ethan, I’m sorry for interrupting, but these are totems." She raised the bag slightly and added, "And they are to take off the weight of the barrier spell you’re putting on yourself."
She had taken her time to find them at a certain kind of market downtown.
"Oh? Well, uhm... thank you, Valerie," Ethan said with a nod.
Valerie nodded and asked, "Shall I set them up around the compound so that in your spare time you can change the spell’s anchors?"
Ethan nodded, then quickly added "Wait."
Through the bond skill, he called for Albedo, who, surprisingly, had been in Rue’s room all day.
She appeared beside him in a burst of smoke, looking excited, as he asked her to help Valerie with the totems.
She immediately frowned and crossed her arms. "This is beneath me," she muttered. "I’m a killer, not a construction worker."
"You’re whatever I tell you to be," Ethan said.
Albedo groaned but went along with Valerie.
Ethan stared at Valerie just a bit as she walked away, then turned his head back to Eduardo. Meanwhile, Percival stared all the way, still in admiration.
When she walked past the door, the werewolf said, "I don’t know why I’m just noticing the new butler, but goddamn she’s packing quite a lot."
Ethan shook his head in amusement.
Right then, his Arcphone buzzed. It was a text from Miss Berlene.
He opened it to see:
Miss Berlene❤️: I’m sorry babe 😞 They weren’t able to get those guys.
Another text followed immediately:
Miss Berlene❤️: But they’ve been officially announced as criminals.
There were a few other texts that came forward, but at this point, Ethan had raised his head with a sigh.
Eduardo asked, "What is it, Master Ethan?"
Ethan said, "They didn’t get them."
Percival turned immediately in their direction, his expression going serious.
Eduardo then said, "So we move with the other plan then?"
Ethan nodded. "Call Roland."
