Chapter 135: A Bunch of Excited Fools

Chapter 133

ONE WEEK LATER!

A week had passed by in a flash, leaving the Aspirants hastening to grow stronger.

It felt as though time were rushing forward for some unknown reason; days stretched into weeks, and those weeks were rapidly turning into months.

This sense of urgency left everyone in a hurry to increase their power beyond what it had been before.

Why the sudden pressure?

With the conclusion of this past week, it was now officially two months since they had all joined the Aspirant Corps.

This left them with a mere ten months to finally graduate, be assessed, and ultimately decide which path they would choose to take in the future.

Ray, however, wasn’t bothered in the least.

He remained casual and laid back about the entire situation, acting as if the passage of time wasn’t his concern.

Oh... lest he forgot, it seemed that today was finally the day—the day when the supposed leader of that influential tech faction was scheduled to arrive.

Not like he cared, of course; it was just that the excited, incessant chatter of the other Aspirants constantly wafted into his ears, making the event impossible to ignore.

He sat in the homeroom class, his fingers tapping silently on the wooden table as his EXP tab stared back at him in his vision.

[Exp: 210/900]

He was still quite far off from a level up, and the slow progress was becoming tiring.

For some reason, he felt a strange spark of excitement about reaching level ten.

He didn’t exactly know why he was so focused on that specific number...

Oh.

It was probably because of the countless manga and anime he had consumed—the kind where system users were granted a massive evolution or a significant power spike upon hitting the double digits.

He yawned silently while Instructor Sony continued yapping on and on about some seemingly meaningless nonsense.

While he was zoning out, his mind flashed back to his rooftop discussion with Felix that night.

He remembered being momentarily stunned by how casually the werewolf had dropped the fact that he was a peak Omega.

Hadn’t Felix said that peak Omegas were often the direct descendants of those powerful six Beta families?

Didn’t that imply he was closely related to a Beta werewolf?

Now, the pieces were beginning to fit together.

Even with his Tribrid abilities, Ray had been unable to truly overpower Felix the first day they met in the forest.

It had felt like the teen was just toying with him.

With this new information, it seemed likely that the werewolf could have fully transformed at any moment if he had truly wanted to.

’Wait, what does that mean for me? Didn’t Bruce actually fully transform that day? So does that mean...’

Ray let the question and his mounting suspicions hang in the air.

His eyes widened slightly as he peered inwardly at the annoying werewolf within his mind, who was obviously listening to his thoughts but stubbornly refusing to make a remark.

’... Whatever. Whether he is an Alpha or something else entirely, I don’t care. All I want is power, and if he can help me get it, I don’t actually give a fuck.’

Casting a glance to his side, he noticed Van’s seat was empty.

For some reason, his friend had been missing since right after breakfast.

No doubt he was locked away, working on something important in his workshop.

Kai was lazily listening to the lecture when a sudden commotion broke the silence.

— Woah! Guys, look!

An Aspirant shouted, pointing excitedly out the window toward the sky.

Immediately, every head in the room snapped toward the window, the students visibly intrigued by whatever had snared their classmate’s attention.

And that was when they all saw it.

Four sleek, beautiful hover cars had just pulled up in front of the primary Corps’ building.

Leaning over to stare out from his side of the window, Ray watched as the vehicle doors swung open and a stream of people began filtering out onto the pavement.

One car took the lead while two brought up the rear, giving a striking blue hover car in the center a respectful amount of space.

From that central vehicle, a figure stepped out.

While the other Aspirants were straining their necks just to catch a blurry glimpse of the man, Ray didn’t have to struggle.

With his advanced eyesight, the target was as clear as day.

The man stood about 5’8" tall, donning a perfectly ironed blazer with dark sunglasses shielding his eyes.

His dense muscles bulged against the fabric of his sleeves, but luckily, the high-quality material held firm.

Stroking a small mound of a beard on his chin, the man offered a faint, condescending scoff at the Aspirant building.

After straightening his blazer, he cast a quick, authoritative glance at his retinue.

The guards were all clad in specialized armor that obscured their faces and bodies entirely.

Though they carried no visible weapons in their hands, it was obvious to a seasoned observer that these dozen men were high-level metas.

Why they wore distinctive green armor, Ray didn’t know—nor did he particularly care.

He tore his gaze away from the spectacle outside to watch Sony struggling to reel the class’s attention back to the lesson.

Currently, the instructor was doing an absolutely awful job.

’Heavens know why these kids are oggling the driveway like excited children who just saw Santa for the first time. Tsk! What? Haven’t they ever seen a hover car before?’

What Ray failed to realize was that the majority of these Aspirants had spent their entire lives seeing these influential figures only on television.

Even if this man wasn’t as globally dominant as the Blue family, he still wielded immense power in this world; he was a definitive big shot.

To these students, seeing a face from the news cycle standing in their courtyard was akin to a famous pop star suddenly appearing at their workplace.

They were bound to lose their minds.

Well, except for the more rational Aspirants like Trisha, Chloe, Kai, and Ray himself.

They remained perfectly and calmly seated, pointedly ignoring whoever had just arrived at the Corps.

In fact, Trisha hadn’t moved an inch to investigate the rowdy commotion.

After a few sharp barks and shouts, Sony finally managed to restore a semblance of order.

But the very moment the class settled, the bell signaling the end of the period rang out loudly.

"Ah, great! You all made me waste precious minutes that were meant to be used for imparting kn—"

— Alright, bye!

The Aspirants shouted in unison, filtering out of the room in a blur of movement and leaving Sony fuming at the podium.

Unfortunately for the star-struck students, they wouldn’t actually get a chance to speak with the visitor; they were forced to head straight to their next aspect classes instead.
