Chapter 694: Chapter 692: Promise Not to Dirty Baby’s Bed

Fu Jinghen’s quick reflexes steadied her. "Did I scare you?"

"What do you think! Opening the front door to find a big man standing there, who wouldn’t be scared?"

Wen Qiao, still unsettled, patted her chest and pushed Fu Jinghen into the house, then kicked the door shut.

The surprise she intended for Fu Jinghen hadn’t worked out, and instead, he had given her a fright.

She kicked off her high heels, slipped into her slippers, and stamped her feet slightly, shaking off the lingering weakness.

Seeing this, Fu Jinghen opened his arms wide. "Shall I carry you inside?"

It was then Wen Qiao noticed he had already changed into pajamas. She took a couple of steps forward and leaned in close. "Don’t tell me you have a pair of pajamas in your car besides your suits?"

Fu Jinghen nodded with a neutral expression. "Just happened to have them."

"I bet you just happened to bring them from the old house, right?" Wen Qiao squinted, suddenly pointing a finger at Fu Jinghen, "You’ve been plotting this all along, haven’t you?"

"If I said yes, would you kick me out?" Fu Jinghen asked.

"So it is a yes."

Fu Jinghen nodded again, his expression unchanged. "Since you’ve guessed it, I won’t hide it from you."

Wen Qiao crossed her arms and nodded sagely. "You’re quite honest."

She knew it. Before leaving, Fu Jinghen had sneaked upstairs and brought something down in a kraft paper bag to put in the car. She hadn’t asked at the time, thinking it looked flat, probably some documents. She never imagined it was actually a pair of pajamas.

"Because I don’t want to lie to you." Fu Jinghen spoke earnestly. "Even if the reason is you."

Wen Qiao felt Fu Jinghen was getting impressive, spouting sweet nothings so smoothly.

She snorted, shrugged off his arms, and was about to walk inside when Fu Jinghen grabbed her wrist. "Weren’t your legs weak just now? I’ll carry you."

"Stop right there!" Wen Qiao quickly extended a finger to his chest, halting his advancing body. "I’ve been wearing these clothes outside, they’re not clean."

"I don’t mind," he said.

"Well, I mind," Wen Qiao rolled her eyes. "You’re wearing those pajamas to get into my bed later, so can you be a bit more careful?"

After hearing this, Fu Jinghen laughed. "Alright, I’ll be more careful and make sure not to dirty your precious bed."

"..."

Looking at Fu Jinghen’s slightly mischievous smile, Wen Qiao suddenly realized what her words had implied.

It wasn’t really suggestive; they were, after all, going to sleep on the same bed soon. But Fu Jinghen’s addition of "dirtying" it made it difficult not to let one’s thoughts stray.

Seconds before her face could flush with heat, Wen Qiao bolted away with a hastily thrown "I’m going to take a shower" and dashed into the bathroom.

Fu Jinghen looked after the fleeing Wen Qiao, a pleased laugh escaping him.

This scatterbrain, teased by him, had completely forgotten to bring a change of clothes.

-

Wen Qiao genuinely felt that Fu Jinghen was becoming increasingly dangerous.

Before, between the two of them, she was the one with the flirty remarks. Yet without warning, Fu Jinghen had taken over that role, leaving her a flustered mess to the point she even forgot to bring her clothes to change into.

After sighing for the twenty-eighth time in the bathroom, she resignedly cracked open the bathroom door and poked her head out, calling, "Fu Jinghen."
