My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!-Chapter 425: Life and Death Are All My Fate
She’s not fit to be a member of the Thorne Family.
Surveillance? Rochelle instinctively glanced around. She had clearly checked inside and out, and this was just an ordinary ward area; there were no surveillance cameras installed.
"Yes, there’s indeed surveillance here." The two doctors standing inside the ward spoke up quickly. "Due to concerns that patients might not follow doctors’ orders and recover properly, there are cameras installed at the door. As long as the ward door is open, the patients inside can be seen. When the door is closed, they can’t be seen, fortuitously avoiding a privacy breach while still allowing close monitoring."
The more the doctors spoke, the darker Rochelle’s expression became.
"No need to check the surveillance, she must have medication on her." Melody’s gaze fixed sharply on Rochelle. She had called for Lady Thorne for ages without rousing her, yet as soon as Rochelle entered, Lady Thorne woke up immediately. It was clearly all premeditated by her.
"Search," Jared said with a cold voice.
The two doctors in the room knew Jared well, as did all the doctors here who were aware that this place was under his domain. Upon receiving the order, the two doctors swiftly grabbed Rochelle’s arms and started searching her.
"What are you doing, what are you doing, let me go," Rochelle screamed, trying to avoid the doctors’ hands.
"Found it." One of the doctors retrieved a small bottle of medication from Rochelle’s pocket, and even through the bottle, there was a strong smell.
"I’ll take it for testing," one doctor said, taking the incomplete infusion from Lady Thorne.
"Wait," Lady Thorne suddenly spoke, her eyes filled with complexity and heartache, already somewhat understanding the situation.
"I don’t want to pursue this with anyone anymore." Lady Thorne painfully closed her eyes. "You all can leave now, I need to rest; this matter shouldn’t trouble you any longer. Whether I live or die, isn’t it all my fate?"
"Mom," Finn clenched his fists, his gaze restrained.
It was obvious Lady Thorne didn’t want Rochelle to be locked up. Even if Rochelle drugged her, she still wanted to protect her, protect her daughter.
"Last time, it was my sister who stayed with you all night, not her, Rochelle!" Finn couldn’t take it anymore. "That night she went to a bar, stayed out all night, only to return in the morning, and it was I who brought breakfast. She had nothing to do with it!"
"Enough, Finn," Melody interjected to stop him from saying more. "Take good care of Mom, I’ll come back to see her another day."
Melody took Jared’s hand and left the ward.
"Mom... Mom," Rochelle immediately rushed to the bedside. "Don’t listen to her nonsense. It’s not true; how could I possibly harm you? I really wouldn’t."
Lady Thorne’s gaze shifted toward the door, slightly regretting the harsh words she just uttered.
Finn averted his eyes, unwilling to witness Rochelle’s continued act. He just wanted Lady Thorne to regain her memory soon.
Outside, in the car.
Melody leaned her head against Jared’s chest, her earlier arrogance completely vanished.
Jared held her as if cradling a newborn caterpillar needing warmth. With one hand on the wheel, the other holding her, all that was missing was a bottle of red wine to complete it with a woman and fine wine both present.
"Jared," Melody didn’t care that he was driving, as she lifted her head and sought his cool, thin lips, kissing him in a frenzy. Her small hand slipped inside his shirt, feeling his firm muscles, provocatively pinching his chest.
