Chapter 400: Chapter 400: Blazing Fury

Melody Thorne started her car, placing the phone on the console before heading back to the Quinn family residence. Passing by the commercial street, she suddenly thought of stopping by a foreign food store to buy Timmy’s favorite snacks.

He didn’t eat those things often, but occasionally when hungry at night, he would have some.

Melody got out of the car, went up to the second floor, carefully selected some items, paid, and prepared to go downstairs.

"Melody Thorne," a jarring voice pierced her ears, as if just seeing her brought extreme displeasure.

Melody recognized the voice, so she wasn’t about to turn around. However, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Mrs. Thorne.

"Melody Thorne, I called you, didn’t you hear?" Rochelle Thorne took a couple of steps forward, grabbing Melody by the arm, "Do you think you can just avoid this forever?"

"Let go," Melody’s gaze turned cool as she looked down, her voice dropping several degrees.

She had overlooked things several times for Mrs. Thorne’s sake, but this only encouraged Rochelle’s boldness.

Rochelle did retreat a step due to Melody’s sudden gaze, but she still refused to let go.

Not even abroad had anyone treated her like this!

"I’m talking to you. Do you think avoiding us means my mom won’t sever ties with you?" Rochelle pressed on aggressively.

Melody turned her head, her gaze landing on Mrs. Thorne. "It’s always been you shouting about cutting ties. Mom never said anything. She doesn’t remember the past, which is why you’re free to act as you do. If she remembered, she certainly wouldn’t let you act this way."

Rochelle’s naturally fiery temper flared at her words, "You think you’re so smart? Get Mom to listen to you then. I’m telling you, today is the day you’ll sever ties with her!"

"Make your move. I don’t have time to waste here." Melody exerted some force to retrieve her arm.

But Rochelle refused to relent, and the two began to tussle.

"Rochelle, Rochelle, stop it now," Mrs. Thorne called out, fearing they would fall from the staircase, her heart pounding. She moved to separate them.

A pedestrian who had just exited a shop suddenly walked by and unintentionally or intentionally bumped into them.

"Ah," Melody and Rochelle screamed simultaneously, both losing balance and falling toward the stairs.

"Rochelle," Mrs. Thorne instinctively reached for Rochelle, while Melody went unchecked, falling towards the lower stairs. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Just as her body was about to crash onto the stairs, an arm appeared in time to pull her back.

"Jared," the crowd gasped, shocked that Jared Quinn would actually save Melody Thorne.

Melody heard the crowd’s gasps and looked up to see the cold face above her, now clouded with anger and frost.

"J-Jared Quinn," Rochelle faltered, taking two unsteady steps back from the man’s face.

"Let’s go," Melody tugged at Jared’s sleeve, feeling a chill in her heart; just moments ago, Mrs. Thorne had instinctively reached for Rochelle, while she was left alone and uncared for.

She didn’t want to make things difficult for Mrs. Thorne at this moment.

Jared’s sharp gaze swept over Rochelle, full of undisguised anger. He turned and left with Melody.
