Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Does It Hurt?

Jared lowered his head and saw that she wasn’t even wearing shoes. Her lovely, translucent footprints were as pleasing as little warm jades, a delightful sight.

Melody Thorne clearly saw the bandaged wound. She had always thought of him as invincible, but now she realized he was flesh and blood, capable of feeling pain, especially when the wound hadn’t healed yet.

Feeling a bit guilty, she applied the medicine, then replaced it with fresh bandages.

"Does it hurt a lot?" Melody lifted her small face to ask.

Jared effortlessly picked her up and switched their positions, seating her on the leather chair. His deep eyes were as if stained with heavy ink. He tilted her chin with his big hand, kissed her again and again.

Was she asking that question out of concern for him, or because Grandfather Quinn had told her to take care of him?

But he didn’t ask, because he knew nothing nice would come out of her little mouth anyhow.

Melody Thorne had already prepared the medicine for him. "Take the medicine, so the wound will heal faster."

Jared’s expression darkened. She looked like she was carrying out a duty. He swallowed as instructed, wondering what she planned to do next. Would she leave right after fulfilling her duty?

In fact, that’s exactly what Melody Thorne intended. She looked up and said, "I promised Timmy yesterday that I’d keep him company. Should I head back now?"

Jared’s hand on her waist tightened slightly, his gaze fixed on her. "Is there anything else?"

Melody Thorne thought for a moment. Indeed, there was something else, something about Ivy.

"Ivy is now insane, and George Adler has been taken in. I want you to send Ivy away, secretly transfer her to a mental hospital abroad if possible. She can’t stay in the country anymore."

Because she knew the secret of Timmy’s parentage, she didn’t want anyone else to find out or have it exposed.

"I’ll arrange it," Jared had already planned to do so. Ivy had saved him, and now that she’d gone mad, the best place was for her to remain permanently overseas.

"Then should I go back to Timmy?"

Jared made a phone call, instructing Simon Sutton to bring Timmy over. He still had a lot to handle, so he wouldn’t return to the Quinn Family house so soon, but he didn’t want to let Melody Thorne go back either.

Melody Thorne stayed quietly, probably the quietest she’d ever been, resting her chin in her hand and occasionally glancing at the man beside her, as if thinking giving him another chance wouldn’t be so bad.

She likely had no idea how alluring her gaze was at that moment, making it impossible for Jared to focus on his documents...

When Timmy arrived, he came with the lunch that the butler had prepared. After the two of them finished eating, they didn’t stop running around Jared’s office, playing childish games of hide and seek.

Downstairs.

"I’m here to see your president," Sheryl Lancaster removed her glasses at the reception desk.

"I’m sorry, Miss Lancaster, but the president is not seeing anyone today." The receptionists all knew her and were aware that Sheryl Lancaster was Jared’s ex-girlfriend, so they were very polite.

"Tell him I have something very important to tell him," Sheryl Lancaster said.

She had visited Ivy many times and had finally uncovered a significant secret, perhaps a secret that could propel her to success. Sheryl Lancaster’s hand nervously fidgeted with her bag; she hadn’t expected such an enormous secret to exist between Jared and Melody Thorne, leaving her somewhat excited.

"Sorry, the young master is upstairs today, and the president isn’t seeing anyone. Please don’t make it difficult for us, Miss Lancaster."
