Chapter 237: Chapter 237: Nemesis Is Nemesis

"Miss Lancaster, since our young master has returned, you should go back for now."

"You all..." Sheryl Lancaster was so angry her face turned blue, but she couldn’t ruin her image as a pure woman. "Are you sure you want me to leave? This woman has made Jared end up like this. Aren’t you afraid she might do something to him in secret again later? By then, it will be too late for regrets."

Melody Thorne lightly curved her lips, her gaze falling on the man lying on the hospital bed. "If I wanted to do something to him, I could do it openly at night. Opportunities are everywhere. I’m not like someone who looks quite pretty but makes herself disgustingly sleazy."

Dr. Mo and the butler listened to Melody Thorne’s words, knowingly keeping their eyes on their noses, and noses on their hearts, feeling the words were a bit dirty.

"Who are you calling sleazy?" Sheryl Lancaster’s face turned sullen with anger, almost unable to hold onto her image and wanting to strangle Melody Thorne, preferably to death.

"You can leave now," Melody Thorne was in no mood to argue with this woman. She walked past the hospital bed, lowering her eyes to gaze at the man lying there.

In truth, calling it a hospital bed wasn’t accurate, as it was the largest and most luxurious bed in the entire hospital. With him lying on it, the bed seemed small.

The man’s deeply chiseled features looked pale. Even so, his breathtakingly handsome face couldn’t be overshadowed, only now softer than the usual fierce aura he had.

The gentle light from outside the window flowed over him as if he were a divine being descending from the heavens, strikingly handsome, rebellious, yet abstinent and untainted. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

So he is flesh and blood too, capable of being ill and fainting, Melody Thorne thought to herself. She had always considered him an unbreakable fortress. Whether he got hurt saving her or let her stab him with a dagger, she never felt a hint of guilt, thinking it was as it should be.

"Miss Lancaster, please go back first," the butler was getting a bit impatient.

"If Jared wakes up, the one who has to leave will definitely be her!" Sheryl Lancaster spoke with reluctance.

"Get out!" Melody Thorne had run out of patience. She wasn’t a pure nor demure woman, so she scolded as she wished.

"Melody Thorne, who are you telling to get out?" Sheryl Lancaster’s face showed as if she had been slapped hard, completely losing face, unable to bear it.

Melody Thorne turned around just about to speak again,

when a low, hoarse voice came from behind her, icy and cold, "What’s all this noise about?"

Melody Thorne turned her head back, suddenly meeting the deep, cold eyes like icy pools, as if endless waves were about to drown her. Especially when those eyes locked onto her firmly, she felt as though her souls were being pulled in, and her heartbeat began to soar.

Kao!

Dr. Mo mouthed a curse in surprise. The man who should have woken up tomorrow was instead awakened by Melody Thorne’s shouting. What need did they have for doctors? Just let this woman shout a few more times and it would work.

Indeed, a nemesis is a nemesis; can bring ruin yet also revive.

When Melody Thorne was considering whether to shift her gaze, Sheryl Lancaster behind her had already started crying like a weeping willow, not knowing when it began, choking, "Jared, when I saw you were hurt, I wanted to come take care of you, and the butler also agreed, but as soon as Miss Thorne arrived, she told me to get out. I... I just wanted to take care of you.

Seeing you hurt, I feel it pains me more than ripping my own heart out."

Jared Quinn’s temple twitched; he detested having women wailing incessantly before him.
