My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!-Chapter 199: The Shy Young Girl
Timothy Lockwood watched as one man after another walked out from inside, his eyes nearly popped out in disbelief. This clearly reflected that these women were unseemly, flirting, promiscuous, lingering in the crowd.
When Melody Thorne came, she purposely brought other clothes to change into. Nina King had already gone out, and the people outside the room thought there was only one woman inside, so they all dispersed.
Melody Thorne waited for a while before heading out.
Until he saw her emerge, Timothy Lockwood’s face had cycled through many shades, while the man beside him showed even more such changes. The flickering lights cast on the man, a dangerous aura was about to erupt,
Melody Thorne rested in the car for a while before driving back to the Quinn Family. The thought of having the opportunity to go abroad in three days filled her heart with excitement.
At Quinn Family, she merely had drunk a few glasses of wine and was already slightly tipsy, her alcohol tolerance was always poor.
"Young Madam," the butler cautiously reminded her.
Melody Thorne muttered an acknowledgment and continued to move forward.
She had barely walked a couple of steps when the lights in the hall suddenly went out, causing Melody Thorne to stop abruptly. The sound of a piano began playing, and she looked over; a tall, slender silhouette sat in front of a black piano, a profound radiant face expressing a deep emotion, while the glow of red candles flickered, surrounded by flowers known as mandrakes.
The entire hall was filled with the sound of the piano — the song she often played; the current pianist was clearly much more skilled than her.
A long table was laid out with various western dishes and red candles.
Jared Quinn’s fingertips halted, he got up and walked towards her, handed her a glass of wine, and in a soft voice, impossible to resist expressed gentleness, "Join me for a drink."
Melody Thorne casually tossed her bag onto the table, determined to see what trick this man had up his sleeve, probably involved neither honesty nor theft.
She sneered, "Even if you plan to do something to me, you don’t need to get me drunk, right? You should know that drunkenness ruins the fun."
Jared Quinn gazed down at her delicate face. The effects of alcohol imbued her porcelain-like fair skin with a hint of blush, her long eyelashes flickering up and down, making her appear like a shy little girl,
had she not just spoken.
Never before did a woman captivate his attention so thoroughly as Melody Thorne did.
The drinking made Melody Thorne deliberately ignore the feeling that resonated so strongly especially after Jared Quinn’s overt display towards Ivy. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"What’s wrong? Are you tempted by the beauty before your eyes?" Melody Thorne tilted her head slightly.
Jared Quinn grabbed her wrist, turned her around, making her look at the surroundings, leaned down to whisper in her ear, "Melody Thorne, aren’t all of these your favorite things?"
Melody Thorne surveyed her surroundings in the candlelight, black mandrakes, black piano, black golf balls, gas pistols, darts, boxing, fencing, and numerous antique collectibles all in black.
Back then it was true...
But it was only because she liked what Jared Quinn liked.
"You wouldn’t use these items to stage a romantic candlelight dinner with me, would you?" Melody Thorne kicked the golf ball beside her foot. "Don’t you know that I don’t like black?"
Black is the color most easily associated with suffocation and despair.
"Don’t try to deny it," Jared Quinn embraced her from behind; his memory unmistakably recalling her genuine penchant.
