My Scheming Little Devil-Chapter 1825: Inferior
Because once you stand at the pinnacle of this country, you can dominate the world political stage, enjoying the desires and ambitions of power.
It’s estimated that anyone with ambition would aspire to reach this position, as it’s the greatest temptation.
After finishing their stroll, they returned to the palace where the banquet was held. The hall had already filled with various nobles who had come to attend the celebration, and the festivities were about to begin.
Jun Yiyi and Madam Aisha found a seat at the back, unobtrusive and unnoticed. Since they were at the royal palace, aside from admiring Her Majesty’s entourage, for Jun Yiyi, indulging in food and drink was the most satisfying.
The palace’s delicacies are top-notch, featuring the best chefs from around the world, so naturally, she had to eat her fill before leaving.
After their stroll, she was quite hungry. Jun Yiyi held a plate in her hands, looking contentedly at the various dishes piled on it, tasting each one while squinting her eyes in a thoroughly enjoyable expression.
"The Empress is coming out," Madam Aisha excitedly reminded her.
Jun Yiyi quickly raised her head, widening her eyes with anticipation as she looked towards the entrance.
The grand golden doors, several meters high, opened wide. Two rows of empress’s guards, dressed in resplendent military uniforms, stood tall and proud, with waist swords, powerful and imposing on either side of the door.
Wearing regal robes of red and white, the empress had a towering hairstyle adorned with a dazzling crown symbolizing incomparable nobility. Holding a gem-studded scepter over a meter long, she walked with majesty from the depths of light and shadow, uniting with the sunlight outside the palace, her long gold-edged cloak trailing on the black carpet.
Her aging face wasn’t particularly beautiful, yet it possessed a commanding presence that compelled others to hold their breath.
All the nobles and ministers present, regardless of age or gender, promptly bowed in respect.
The cake in Jun Yiyi’s mouth got stuck as she stared wide-eyed at the highest authority worshipped by all—the Empress herself, so different from her imagination. On Earth, royalty, whether kings or queens, often embodied brightness and kindness, most showing friendly, proper, and elegant smiles.
The monarchs on Earth, though high in status, lacked the commanding aura of a ruler, as they were merely figureheads, symbolic leaders of a nation.
But this Empress was different; a mere glance conveyed a strong, ruthless, militant aura, a feeling akin to a blood-stained ruler of chaotic times, offering no sense of care or warmth, rather cold, distant, and unreachable.
Clearly, she was a powerful and capable ruler.
"Yiyi..." Madam Aisha whispered in surprise, urging Jun Yiyi to bow; everyone around them was bowing, not doing so would be too disrespectful.
"Besides, everyone has finished bowing, if I bow now, it would be too strange. We’re standing so far back; no one will notice." Jun Yiyi smiled mischievously, sticking out her tongue, and swallowed the cake in her mouth.
This country had a noble class system, strict hierarchies, but Jun Yiyi didn’t adhere strongly to such class concepts.
She didn’t think meeting the Empress required fearful and servile bowing, feeling inferior.
Madam Aisha was helpless, glancing at her sharply, lest she make noise and draw attention.
After the Empress arrived, she first ascended the stage solemnly and delivered a speech. The surrounding nobles modestly applauded. Jun Yiyi, having satisfied her curiosity in seeing this world’s Empress, didn’t care about the speech content.
She continued eating and drinking, enjoying herself.
Once she was full, she planned to leave.
Unexpectedly, after the Empress’s speech, a ball commenced, and the Empress herself, along with her husband, Prince Heer, joined the dance floor, prompting other nobles to eagerly join in.
Even more unexpected, despite being low-key to the point of invisible, she still received invitations to dance.
