Chapter 1014: Chapter 1014: A Watertight Plan

Ye Lu poured a cup of milk and walked over to Ling Xiu. Just as Ling Xiu looked up, Ye Lu’s body softened, and she fell towards him, spilling the milk all over him.

"What’s wrong with you?" Ling Xiu quickly steadied her.

With an apologetic face, Ye Lu said, "I’m sorry, I’m pregnant, and sometimes I get a bit dizzy. Oh dear, I’ve made you all dirty, I really am sorry."

"Forget it." Ling Xiu couldn’t blame her. He looked down at his black suit, now drenched in milk, the shirt underneath completely soaked, "Rest here, I’ll go change."

After saying this, he went to the changing room behind and changed his clothes.

Then he came out and saw Ye Lu leaning on the sofa, looking very tired.

"Do you want me to get you a doctor?"

Ye Lu shook her head: "No need, I’ll be fine after resting here for a while." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Ling Xiu nodded and left. He was going to the surveillance room to review the guests present, to identify any suspects and lock on to targets.

Once he was gone, Ye Lu immediately opened her eyes, a calmness in their depths, but tension in her heart.

She quickly stood up and walked into the changing room behind the rest area.

The changing room was a large space, and Ling Xiu’s changed clothes were on a chair. Ye Lu hurried over and started searching through the clothes, but she couldn’t find the ornament.

Her mind buzzed, wondering if Ling Xiu hadn’t taken off the ornament.

She felt disappointed but just as she was about to leave, the clothes fell on the ground, and a chain slipped out from a pocket.

Ye Lu was overjoyed, picked up the clothes quickly, and pulled out the chain—it was indeed the one, it seemed Ling Xiu really valued it, having placed it inside the inner pocket of his clothes.

But soon, Ye Lu was troubled again.

If she were to take the chain like this, it would be too obvious, and Ling Xiu, who cherished the item so much, would become anxious and search for it if he noticed it missing.

This rest area was seldom visited by anyone; it would be too easy for him to suspect her, especially since Ling Xiu was no fool.

Ye Lu’s gaze sharpened, she needed to come up with a foolproof plan.

Her eyes scanned the area, her mind racing for a fitting, unsuspecting way to proceed, yet at that moment, she couldn’t think of one.

Suddenly, she saw a plump, snow-white cat lying lazily by the windowsill, basking in the sun and looking utterly content.

A lightbulb went off for Ye Lu—got it.

If she made it look like the cat had taken the ornament, Ling Xiu would have no way to find it.

Ye Lu immediately grabbed some food from outside the rest area and approached the cat, then started meowing to entice it.

The cat, with its half-closed dark green eyes, looked beautiful and round, but its indifferent expression made it clear that it wasn’t to be trifled with.

After teasing it for a while, it finally stood up. Seizing the opportunity, Ye Lu grabbed Ling Xiu’s clothes and threw them on the cat, covering it completely.

This enraged the cat, which let out a low growl from its throat and fiercely extended its claws, frantically ripping Ling Xiu’s clothes, tearing open several ragged marks.

Ye Lu breathed a sigh of relief, ready to take the chain and leave, but then she saw the cat wriggle out from under the clothes, arching its back at her with all its fur standing on end, looking very angry.

Ye Lu’s face changed color, and she tried to run out, but the cat, howling furiously, suddenly leaped towards her.

Ye Lu hadn’t expected it to attack her.

She shoved back, barely avoiding its claws reaching her face.

Ye Lu’s face turned pale, a wave of shock running through her heart.
