Chapter 77: Chapter 77: One Year Left

Renee Winslow lay on her side on the bed, silent. She was really sleepy and exhausted now, just wanting a good sleep.

Jack Yates looked at her curled-up small figure, with all sorts of emotions weighing on his heart. In the end, he suppressed them and said in a low voice, "You have a good rest, I’m going to the company."

Renee Winslow remained silent, her eyes tightly shut.

Instead of going to the company, Jack Yates returned to the Yates Family’s old house.

Renee Winslow slept until after three in the afternoon, and when she woke up, she didn’t feel refreshed. Instead, she felt groggy, and her head was a bit dizzy.

She got up, washed, got dressed, and was about to go downstairs to eat something. As she was about to leave the room, Jack Yates returned.

Jack Yates had gone to the old house and thoroughly investigated everything that happened yesterday, including how Rina Bell and the others were spreading rumors, deliberately creating misunderstandings.

Although he knew that Renee Winslow was unlikely to be affected by such matters, he still wanted to clarify everything.

He pressed Renee Winslow onto the sofa, gazing at her deeply, "Renee, you’re so smart, you should be able to tell the difference."

"Tell the difference about what?" Renee Winslow looked at him, puzzled, feeling that his words were a bit unfocused.

Jack Yates said directly, "Besides you, I haven’t liked anyone else, and I definitely wouldn’t take you as a substitute. Moreover, with my personality, if I really liked Rina Bell, do you think I would endure it?"

Renee Winslow thought about it and found it to be true. With Jack Yates’s personality, let alone liking someone, even if he was just interested, he would not endure; he would immediately make it happen, not caring about who the other person was.

Just like at the beginning, she was Caleb Yates’s girlfriend. Jack Yates fancied her and didn’t hesitate to make things awkward with his nephew to snatch her by his side,

so domineering!

She’d never seen anyone more domineering than Jack Yates.

Yet when she thought of Rina Bell’s looks, Renee Winslow was still somewhat puzzled, "I met your cousin yesterday. She does look somewhat similar to me, or rather, I look somewhat similar to her."

Jack Yates directly unlocked his phone and took out a video he recorded after he returned.

"I’m sorry Miss Winslow, it was my fault yesterday. I deliberately wanted to embarrass you, so I said those things and wore imitative makeup to mimic your appearance..."

Seeing Rina Bell’s true appearance in the video and hearing those words, Renee Winslow only felt her mind buzzing; she hadn’t expected such despicable tactics.

Jack Yates put away the phone and looked at her, "Do you believe it now?"

Renee Winslow nodded but immediately added, "But why would she do that?"

Jack Yates spoke calmly, "She’s my uncle’s adopted daughter, with no blood relations to me."

Just one sentence explained the issue.

Renee Winslow understood, "So, she likes you."

Jack Yates didn’t say anything, silently acknowledging it.

Renee Winslow also said nothing. The only feeling in her heart was that the circle was really messy!

Although Rina Bell wasn’t Jack Yates’s biological cousin and had no biological blood relation, she was still his uncle’s foster daughter, essentially his cousin in upbringing.

She really couldn’t understand such a situation. How could someone you grew up knowing as a cousin develop those kinds of feelings?

It could only mean that Jack Yates was too outstanding, enchanting Rina Bell to lose her sanity, or perhaps Rina Bell desired to marry into the Yates Family.

Jack Yates grabbed both of her hands, his dark, deep eyes seemingly able to see through her soul, looking straight at her, "Renee, whatever happens from now on, you must tell me right away. I don’t want misunderstandings between us because of a third party."

Renee Winslow wanted to say that true romantic partners need to do that; their relationship wasn’t genuinely that of a couple. They didn’t need such honesty, nor such seriousness.

"Jack Yates." Renee Winslow looked at him, "The time we initially agreed on was two years, right?"

Jack Yates gripped her hand tightly, squinted, and looked at her with heavy eyes, "Right, two years."

Renee Winslow smiled at him, her voice gentle, "It’s already been almost a year; there’s one year left."

Jack Yates’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his gaze growing heavier, holding her hand even more forcefully. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Renee Winslow ignored the pain of her hand being squeezed, smiling as she said, "You promised back then, that after a year, you would let me go. Jack Yates, you won’t go back on your word, will you?"

Jack Yates finally understood now. This girl’s heart truly couldn’t be warmed; she had always been thinking about leaving him, never considering truly being together with him.

Realizing this, Jack Yates pulled his lips, pulled and pulled again, smiling with a cold and ruthless demeanor, "And if I do go back on my word?"
