My Players Are So Fierce-Chapter 415
Chapter 415: Second Warrior – The Strange Doctor Pants Stripping Demon
After Murphy received the message from Adele, he hurried to the “Death House” where the corpse mage Bella was located. As soon as he arrived, he saw Lady Bernice riding a skeletal warhorse patrolling back and forth in the tunnel below, accompanied by 5 elite skeleton attendants.
Compared to the corpse mage Bella who was forced to serve Murphy and Crimson Citadel but full of complaints, this Netherworld Knight who was brought back by Hog from Plague Town using some methods seemed more adaptable to circumstances.
When she saw Murphy emerge from the shadows, she nodded to him from horseback, displaying Lady Bernice’s elegant manners.
Well, although using the word “elegant” to describe a dead person always feels a bit strange.
“Good day, Lady Bernice. How have you been these past few days at Crimson Citadel?”
Murphy landed while flapping his wings and asked softly. The Netherworld Knight let out a hoarse laugh from beneath her dark helmet, saying:
“Nothing could be more perfect. Compared to Plague Town, this place is like a serene paradise reserved for the undead.
Of course, your active and peculiar warriors occasionally annoy me, they always follow me trying to talk to trigger some kind of ‘quest’, but it’s not really a problem.
Adele taught me how to deal with them.
Out of some dark pleasure belonging to the dead, I asked them to bring me elite undead servants. I thought it would take a very long time, but they completed everything in just 3 days.
I can sense these elite skeleton soldiers came from Seicob City, so have you and your warriors already planned to enter that dangerous area?”
“That’s a plan for later.”
Murphy swept his gaze over the skeleton soldiers beside Lady Bernice.
Their empty eye sockets flickered with azure soul fire, bound by the Netherworld Knight’s power to control undead souls, guarding their master’s side like the most loyal servants. At just one command from Bernice, these fellows would launch devastating attacks against enemies.
After a few seconds of silence, Murphy asked:
“According to Hog’s words, even among the Netherworld Knights in Plague Town, you were counted among the considerably powerful ones. It had to owe Lame Claw a debt to bring you back.
So here’s the question, Lady Bernice – if I hope you could teach the Netherworld Knight’s legacy to my warriors-”
“Impossible!”
Bernice, this half-elf, answered bluntly in typical undead fashion:
“To become a Netherworld Knight, your warriors would have to die first, but they are only spirit projections – they don’t even have the special concept of ‘life and death’.
I’d be happy to teach them techniques for controlling lower undead.
But I cannot teach them to become Netherworld Knights. Of course this might also be related to my ignorance of Netherworld powers, after all you can’t expect me to learn too many sophisticated knowledge from gnolls.
However…”
The Netherworld Knight paused, then said:
“If you could find a way from the source of all undead powers, I mean, go to the legendary Moon Holy City, then perhaps you could also harness the power of the Netherworld for your own use.”
“Your answer is identical to Lady Bella’s answer to me. It’s truly regrettable to see such cool inheritance right before our eyes yet unable to obtain it.”
Murphy shook his head and said elegantly:
“Well then, I won’t disturb your stroll.
But if you’re interested, you can visit the fighting club at midnight. I hear that the dead whose rest is disturbed harbor unresolvable anger, if you don’t want to walk the path of self-destruction then you need to find appropriate ways to vent it.
My fighting club is still holding regular challenges for the Transia King of Fighters Championship. You can find targets there to vent your death anger.”
“Thanks for the reminder.”
Bernice nodded and said:
“I’ll go. Now please go talk to my useless husband, he and his apprentice are waiting for you.”
Murphy blinked.
Thinking to himself that the interaction between this undead couple was quite interesting.
They clearly care about each other, Bella was willing to bow to vampires to save her, while Bernice patrols this road all day fearing the witch hunters above would come down to purify Bella, this evil and frail corpse mage. But even after death they still bicker.
Tsk tsk, this must be the unique way undead interact!
After bidding farewell to Lady Bernice, Murphy quickly arrived at Bella’s cottage, only to see 4 coffin bearer players from the “Eight Demon Elite Group” coming out arm in arm, still discussing gameplay about the “undead faction”.
Beside them was Honest Dog Egg, who was leaning on a bone staff with 3 skeleton servants and a skeleton knight guarding him, casting teleportation spells in a grand manner, displaying a “master’s” demeanor.
Dog Egg wasn’t just the first coffin bearer among players, his unique “spatial awareness” talent allowed him to grasp the obscure teleportation techniques faster than other spirit mages.
Of course, no matter how talented he was, he was still just a beginner. The limit of his teleportation spell could only send him from Crimson Citadel to Morland Village or several nearby farms.
But according to Femis, this fellow was progressing quite fast, perhaps he would soon become the most excellent teleporter among players-
“Ahhhh, out of control! Brothers save me!”
Just as Murphy was thinking this, Dog Egg who had just stepped into the teleportation gate he opened let out a wolf-like howl, reaching out a hand from the gate calling for help from the Eight Demon Elite Group beside him.
He shouted:
“Damn I entered the Astral Realm again! This is already the second time this month, why am I so unlucky! Save me, brothers!
Pull me out, quick!”
“Shit! Save him!”
The leader of Eight Demon Elite Group Lan shouted, pouncing over to grab Dog Egg’s arm and pull him back to the material world.
The other brothers also ran over to help in a flurry, finally managing to pull Dog Egg back from the Astral Realm before the teleportation gate dissipated.
But this unlucky fellow brought back some “things” from the Astral Realm.
Several shadow squid-like weird things floated in the air, making shrill sounds while waving their tentacles and attacking the surroundings menacingly.
Fortunately although the Eight Demon Elite Group were goofballs, they did have real strength, instantly 4-5 curses were thrown, along with controlled undead minions rushing forward to kill, finally managing to take down these soul-devouring squids.
They were quite lucky, this soul-devouring squid “dropped” equipment, its shattered dark skull falling to the ground making the brothers who played evil routes gather around whispering, not quite daring to reach out and take it.
After all it was something from the Astral Realm, who knows what weird powers might remain on it?
While the rescued Dog Egg no longer had his previous imposing manner, now sitting aside taking big gasps of air under his undead servants’ protection. He covered his head regretfully saying:
“Damn, miscalculated another coordinate. This teleportation spell is so hard, why are there so many formulas to remember? Shit, just lost a skeleton mage.
Damn!
That was high-grade goods I got from Hog through ‘loans’, now I’ll have to pay through my nose.”
This little episode made Lord Murphy who was watching from the shadows extremely satisfied, his little players were still so full of vigor, which was wonderful.
They had not yet been repeatedly beaten down by the cruel society to lose their joy in exploring life, this was exactly what he hoped to see.
With the pleasure of “watching others’ misfortune”, Murphy pushed open the door of the Death House.
Looking up, he saw under the illumination of several dim phosphorous fires, the grimly dressed corpse mage Bella standing with hands behind his back, watching his apprentice “Pants Stripping Demon” who was now wearing undead mage robes performing a dissection.
Pants Stripping Demon had recovered from his previous weak state. In Murphy’s eyes, this unique little player’s spirit projection was now very solid.
This meant he was recovering his “health”.
It seemed corpse mage Bella really hadn’t been slacking off during this time, he was truly dedicated in nurturing Pants Stripping Demon, this little player who was unique in various aspects.
Murphy didn’t disturb the “master and apprentice’s” actions, silently approaching to observe the movements of Pants Stripping Demon who was fully concentrated.
Ah Feng held a “surgical knife” wrapped in death spirit energy with both hands, performing dissection research on the gnoll corpse on the stone platform before him. His every move was full of professional beauty from formal training.
His cuts were very steady, with almost no unnecessary movements. Clean and efficient as he removed one large and one small heart from this Gnawbone barbarian warrior who died in the conflict at Smuggler’s Woods, then immersed them in jars prepared by the corpse mage to organize materials for later research.
Pants Stripping Demon’s performance also made corpse mage Bella nod repeatedly.
It was clear that Bella was very satisfied with his apprentice’s basic skills in “undead knowledge”. Just this exquisite dissection technique alone was enough for Pants Stripping Demon to stand out in any place where undead mages gathered.
To master death, one must first understand death!
From this theoretical perspective, dissection of the dead is the most basic skill for becoming an undead mage in this continent.
“Excellent! Your technique surpasses my imagination. Your understanding of life form structures also far exceeds those fools who pursue death but are unwilling to study steadily.
It seems we can skip these basic courses and directly enter into exploration of the Netherworld mysteries.”
Bella praised:
“You will become the most excellent undead mage. If you were born in the Sanghai Empire, you would probably become the most excellent Moon priest. But before we formally begin, please first complete your conversation with the local lord.
Time is very generous to us.
Come find me when you are ready, my disciple.”
The corpse mage turned his head 180 degrees in a way impossible for the living to bow to Murphy, those green spirit flames under his hood could make children cry.
But Murphy the vampire wasn’t afraid of these things at all.
After all, in most mortals’ eyes, vampires were much scarier than moving corpses. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
As Bella left, Pants Stripping Demon also took off his blood-stained leather gloves. He washed his hands and removed his self-made mask before turning to say to Murphy:
“Thank you for your help, Lord Murphy.”
“Oh? Why thank me?”
Murphy looked at the young man before him with interest.
Unlike when he first awakened in Transia days ago, Pants Stripping Demon Ah Feng had now completely regained his calmness and professionalism as a doctor, his every move carried a scholarly and refined quality.
From his current calm demeanor, Murphy could deduce that Ah Feng had probably already guessed certain truths, but he preferred Ah Feng to say it himself.
Faced with Murphy’s counter-question, Pants Stripping Demon was silent for a few seconds. He rubbed his real cheek and said:
“This place is not the game they speak of! This place truly exists. I’ve been thinking about these issues since awakening. From father and Brother Mu’s descriptions I can judge that their understanding of Transia is based on scientific rational deduction, but the problem is that my current state cannot be explained by science.
I am a medical doctor.
I’m very clear that my condition in the outside world was impossible to awaken from, that wasn’t something modern medicine could solve.
Yet what science couldn’t achieve, the mystical did.
You… you all truly exist.
My first reaction upon awakening was correct, after encountering irreversible danger, I did indeed come to another world.
But not in the way I’m familiar with.”
Ah Feng looked at Murphy with complex expression and said softly:
“I still cannot understand some of the details, but I guess this must be related to you. Therefore both emotionally and rationally, I have sufficient reason to express gratitude to you.
Regardless of your purpose, the fact that you saved me and salvaged my broken family is indisputable.”
“Well, I accept your thanks.”
Murphy nodded, neither confirming nor denying.
He looked at Ah Feng and said:
“Your father and your cousin have been scouting the Foul Swamp in Smuggler’s Woods recently. Your mentor Bella needs the ghost grimoire from gnoll sorcerers’ hands to ensure your spirit body’s safety. Your mother has already obtained testing qualification and will enter the game in the next batch.
Their activities in Transia are not based on seeking pleasure.
You are still here, therefore they won’t give up. From this perspective, I used you to obtain outstanding warriors for my forces.
Will you blame me for this? Ah Feng.”
“They won’t truly die here, right?”
The medical doctor sighed and said:
“I feel uncomfortable, but I have no reason to blame you for this. I probably also understand my responsibilities in Transia now.
I will do my utmost to contribute my power to ensure your forces’ long-term stability, in order to save my own life that has fallen to rock bottom.
However I have a small request, hoping you can agree.”
“Tell me, my first professional doctor.”
Murphy made a “please” gesture. Ah Feng before him hesitated, then raised both his hands and said:
“Before I confirm that my current state can exist long-term in Transia without any restrictions or disturbances, I hope you won’t accept any more unfortunate ones like me.
Perhaps you view this as a kind of salvation.
But please believe that the risks existing in this behavior are no gentler than letting them die in their sleep in the material world.
I can understand that once people like us are reborn in Transia, we will unconditionally become your most trustworthy fanatic supporters. In order to ensure we can restart our lives in our ‘second homeland’, we can give everything for you.
I can understand this choice’s temptation for you, but please suppress your desires in this aspect slightly, Lord Murphy. As the pioneer among the unfortunates, I have the responsibility to explore a path for my companions who will step into Transia later…
This is where my second duty lies!”
“Sigh, so in your eyes I have such a gloomy and evil image?”
Murphy sighed and said:
“Little Ashina would never describe me like this. Perhaps this is the difference between an innocent young girl and a social person who always likes to overthink.
You always consider your situation from the worst angle.
I won’t try to persuade you this is unnecessary, you can use your own eyes to see, I believe you will get an answer.
But as you said, your unique situation determined that you would become my most trusted warrior upon awakening. The trust between us is based on mutually existing bonds.
This is a natural obedience and following.
Therefore, I shall bestow upon you the title of ‘Murphy’s Warrior’ – you will become the second otherworld spirit acknowledged by me after Little Ashina.
Of course we still need to go through the procedures.
I will issue a series of trial quests for you-”
“That grimoire!”
Ah Feng raised his head and said very firmly:
“If it truly relates to my and others with tragic fates like me having lives in the new world, then I have sufficient reason to pursue it and obtain it.
Please allow me to join this operation, Lord Murphy. I cannot convince myself to peacefully enjoy what my father and Brother Mu contribute for me.
What I need, I must take back myself!”
“Excellent!”
Murphy was even more satisfied.
He looked at Pants Stripping Demon before him and said:
“That’s it, that’s the mindset!
What one desires must be taken back by one’s own hands. I must say, although you’ve just awakened, you’re already like a true Transian.
Then go ahead.
Set out after you learn the necessary knowledge from Bella, but no need to be so rushed, the campaign against Foul Swamp will officially begin next month.
I mean, before that you need to stay here, at least until you reunite with your poor mother.
I learned from Brother Mao that your mother has been living in self-blame all these years, that pressure from the past has made her almost deranged.
And you, my warrior, you are the only key to unlock this pressure.
Look, I am a vampire, but I am not heartless.
I am full of humanity, even more human-like than some black-hearted humans, am I not?”
