My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister-Chapter 121 - 84: Beaten Until Powerless, Forced to Stop
The BRRRING BRRRING BRRRING of the phone’s ringtone was like a high-energy anthem hyping up a fight in a boxing ring.
It rang nonstop, vibrating wildly at the same time.
Jiangg Ning held the phone and was about to make a run for it, but Jiangg Yao gave her no such chance. She threw her arms around her sister’s waist, trapping her in place.
"What are you doing? I need to go to my room and change! Look at how you’ve pulled my clothes out of shape!" she chided, frowning.
"Who cares if you change or not? You can go, but leave the phone. Chen Yuan is calling me, can’t you hear?" Jiangg Yao didn’t care at all that her sister’s ample chest was exposed.
The cold wind blowing in from the floor-to-ceiling windows assaulted her soft skin, making Jiangg Ning shiver uncontrollably.
Fortunately, when they had rented the apartment, the older sister had been safety-conscious enough to spend a pretty penny on privacy glass, so no one could see into the living room from outside.
This was also why Jiangg Yao dared to wear extremely revealing clothes around the house every day.
"He’s clearly calling me! It’s my phone! I’m going to my room to change and answer it now. Let go of me."
"No way. Don’t even think about it."
Jiangg Yao held on for dear life, showing no intention of letting her go.
The two of them remained locked in a stalemate.
The older sister held the phone high, her expression as solemn as the Statue of Liberty holding her torch. Jiangg Yao could only reach for it on her tiptoes, but just as her straining fingers touched it, the ringing phone was suddenly snatched away in another direction.
She’d lunge for it again, and Jiangg Ning would pull her hand away again.
After several attempts, with one attacking and the other dodging, the younger sister was so frantic she was starting to sweat.
Just then, the ringing stopped abruptly.
"Are you insane?! What if my young master needed something important? You’ve ruined everything." Jiangg Yao released her grip on her sister’s waist and irritably tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Staring at her sister’s back, she wished she could just kick her in the butt.
"My... what? My young master?" Jiangg Ning was taken aback, then scoffed a moment later. "What a disgusting nickname."
"None of your business."
Jiangg Yao sat on the sofa in a huff, trying to calm her turbulent emotions. She leaned back and closed her eyes for a moment, then started flailing her arms, weakly punching the sofa cushions. Her feet weren’t idle either.
"Argh! This is so annoying! Hmph... I’ve been waiting all day for a chance to talk to my young master, and you have to go and do this? You stupid, rotten sister! You’re doing this on purpose! You don’t want me to have a happy relationship, you just want to make things hard for me and piss me off!" As Jiangg Yao spoke, her eyes, hot with frustration, turned red again.
Soon, her eyes welled with tears. If she hadn’t been tilting her head back, they probably would have started streaming down her face.
"Look at your pathetic self. Who are you whining and whimpering for?"
Jiangg Ning walked over to the TV, picked up a slipper, and was about to put it on the floor. But hearing her sister’s complaints, she got so mad that she raised the slipper as if to throw it.
What she didn’t understand was that her sister and Chen Yuan had just been chatting.
However, there were no new messages on Green Bubble. Chen Yuan had called directly, which meant he must have had something to discuss.
Something that couldn’t be explained in just a few words.
"Whatever, I’ll just call him back on Green Bubble with a voice call. It’s the same thing." Jiangg Yao suddenly had an idea and picked up her phone from the coffee table.
"Don’t you dare!"
The next second, Jiangg Ning rushed over, tackled her sister, and brutally snatched the phone away.
Pinned underneath her, Jiangg Yao was completely stunned, watching helplessly as her sister took her phone too.
"What the hell are you doing?!?!"
After a moment of shock, she let out a sharp shriek. Her sister was driving her completely insane.
"Aha! I knew you didn’t delete them. You lied again. Look at all these chat logs!"
She swiped across the screen a couple of times.
A fire of anger ignited in Jiangg Ning’s heart as well.
’Not a single word my sister says can be trusted! She’s a pathological liar.’
Feeling like she was being deceived at every turn, Jiangg Ning pushed her away, her brow deeply furrowed. She glanced at the screen and was instantly shocked by the lovey-dovey, cloyingly sweet, and flirty content of the chat logs!
’...?!’
’They’re talking so explicitly!’
Her delicate fists clenched instantly.
Just as Jiangg Ning was about to read more closely, she suddenly felt a pulling force on her leg. Before she could react, her entire body was dragged backward to the end of the sofa.
The phone fell from her hand.
Jiangg Yao, with a sudden burst of strength from God knows where, had managed to drag her sister away.
She nimbly scrambled over Jiangg Ning’s body, pressing her knee onto her sister.
"Hiss! Ah—"
Jiangg Ning felt a sharp pain in her back as if from a vicious blow, causing her body to arch in agony.
"Don’t you know how to be gentle? Are you trying to kill me?" she cried, biting her lip and twisting her neck to rub the aching spot on her back.
However, Jiangg Yao had barely half a second to celebrate her success in snatching the phone.
On the other side of the room, the phone started ringing again.
BRRRING—
The sound echoed through the living room.
The two sisters looked at each other.
...
"Stop, stop, stop!"
After who knows how long of grappling, both Jiangg Ning and Jiangg Yao were panting for breath, collapsed on the rug.
Exhausted, they were both chugging water—one on the left side of the coffee table, the other on the right, both leaning against the sofa.
Their movements were almost identical!
If Chen Yuan were to see them, he’d be stunned for a good while, thinking there was a mirror between them.
During their struggle, he had called several times, but neither of them had managed to answer.
The phone in the fluffy pink case and the other one in a pure white case lay side by side in silence.
"No... this can’t go on forever. It’s pointless. I’m out of energy..." Jiangg Ning waved her hand dismissively. Her face was pale, and she couldn’t even stand up.
"You’re right. If we keep fighting, it’ll just be mutually destructive. And neither of us will get to answer the phone."
The two sisters both realized that fighting wouldn’t solve the fundamental problem. The only thing it accomplished was letting them vent their anger.
It had been three hours since Jiangg Ning came home.
If they couldn’t reach a consensus, were they just going to fight until the world went dark?
They were forced to calm down together.
"So what do we do? You tell me!"
"How about this: we answer the phone first, hear what he has to say, and then we can continue."
"Deal!"
"Then I’ll call him back."
Jiangg Ning propped herself up on her elbows against the sofa, grabbed her phone, and brushed back her messy hair before tapping the missed call notification on the screen.
"Wait!" Her sister suddenly realized something was wrong. "Why are *you* calling him back, not me?"
"Because Chen Yuan is my boyfriend," Jiangg Ning said matter-of-factly, as if there was nothing wrong with that.
"No, he’s clearly *my* young master. I should be the one to call him back. What does this have to do with you?"
"Stop, stop, stop... here we go again! This is endless!"
"Then you call back, and I’ll do the talking," Jiangg Yao suggested in a low voice, leaning in.
"Here, take it. You can call him back. I can’t be bothered to fight over something so trivial."
Jiangg Ning thrust the phone into her hand, too annoyed to say another word. Jiangg Yao, on the other hand, was blooming with joy.
She took the phone, first clearing her throat, then straightening her clothes and messy hair.
"What are you doing? Just call!" her sister said, puzzled. "It’s not a video call. He can’t see you. What’s next, are you going to put on makeup?"
"What do you know? It’s about the ritual."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Just stop dawdling."
When Jiangg Yao felt she was ready, she pressed her lips together, lifted her chin, and finally raised the phone.
BEEP—
"Hello?"
She deliberately put on a cutesy, soft voice, which made Jiangg Ning instantly furrow her brow.
’Ugh~’
’What a fake!’
Chen Yuan’s confused voice came from the earpiece.
"I called a few times but you didn’t pick up. Were you busy?"
"Oh... I, I was in the kitchen cooking! I bought groceries and made... stir-fried pork with artemisia, and also pan-fried fish. I was so busy I didn’t even look at my phone," Jiangg Yao said shamelessly.
Jiangg Ning looked at her sister and pursed her lips in disdain.
’Like hell you know how to cook!’
’I was clearly the one who cooked. Does she have to take credit for that too?’
Watching Jiangg Yao talk to *her* boyfriend, she was overcome with an indescribable frustration. She reached out and snatched the phone. Jiangg Yao’s eyes went wide, but her sister just placed the phone on the table and put it on speaker.
The two of them were now shoulder to shoulder, head to head, jostling for position.
Eventually, their cheeks were pressed together as they both hunched over the coffee table to listen to Chen Yuan.
"Oh, I see. I was worried something had happened since I called so many times. I’m glad you’re okay."
"So, what’s up, my young master? Why didn’t you just say it on Green Bubble?"
Jiangg Yao couldn’t stop calling him ’my young master,’ making her sister roll her eyes. ’Why does she have to use such a flirty nickname?’
’She has no sense of propriety!’
"I do have something to talk about..."
At Chen Yuan’s words, both sisters’ ears perked up, and they couldn’t help but listen intently.
The voice coming from the speaker was gentle, with a hint of magnetism, full of the tender greenness of an eighteen-year-old boy. Their expressions turned subtle, and they both, in perfect unison, bit their lips and blinked.
Their movements were identical.
"Then tell me. I’m listening," Jiangg Yao said softly.
"Well... the New Year’s Gala is coming up soon, right? After the gala, it’ll be time for our winter break. I wanted to ask if you’re free during the break..."
His voice trailed off.
Jiangg Ning and Jiangg Yao were on the edge of their seats. ’Just say it!’
’What about the break?’
"Are you free during the break?"
"Yes, of course I am."
SLAP—
Jiangg Ning smacked her sister, making her hiss in pain.
"What was that for?!" she hissed, keeping her voice down.
"Don’t be so eager. Can’t you learn to be a little reserved? You sound like you’re desperately throwing yourself at him."
"None of your business," she retorted, glaring at her sister.
Jiangg Ning’s habit of trying to discipline her sister flared up again. She couldn’t stand seeing her sister act like this and always felt the need to restrain her.
Then, as if he had gathered his courage, Chen Yuan asked, "I was thinking of traveling during winter break, maybe go see the ocean. I wanted to ask if you’d be willing to go with me."
’A trip!!!’
Jiangg Yao’s eyes lit up instantly. ’A trip with my boyfriend!’
’How amazing would that be? It’s more than I could ever dream of.’
Being stuck at home all the time, she was going crazy wanting to be close to her dear boyfriend. Of course she would jump at such a wonderful opportunity to spend time together.
Although the suggestion was a bit sudden.
It came without any warning, which didn’t seem like something Chen Yuan would do.
’Because couples only travel together once their relationship reaches a certain level of intimacy. You’d inevitably have to stay together on the road, right? Staying in a hotel room... things could easily happen!’
"I... I’m willing."
Jiangg Yao thought for a moment, her cheeks flushing red as she answered softly.
"Willing my ass!" Her sister put her in a headlock, dragged her aside, and glared. "Going on a trip together isn’t a small thing! How could you just agree like that?"
"What’s wrong with it..."
On the phone, Chen Yuan’s voice continued.
"Hello? Well, if you’re willing, then I’m relieved. That’s all I wanted to ask."
Chen Yuan could hear it was quite chaotic on their end, but he didn’t know what was happening.
"Okay, then let’s leave it at that for now—Chen, you can hang up. I’ll call you back when I’m done here."
"Mm-hm, okay!"
With that, the call ended.
The older sister’s voice suddenly rose in volume.
"Jiangg Yao, what were you thinking!?"
