Just as the zombie lunged at the girl, Xu Xiaoyou thought the girl was beyond saving when the pink-haired girl grinned, grabbed a metal bat from the side, and swung it back, knocking the oncoming zombie to the ground!

"It feels so real, the beautiful red, just like the real thing."

The pink-haired girl knocked the zombie to the ground, looking down from above, raised the baseball bat high, and smashed it down hard, one hit after another. In the startled eyes of many novice players, the girl shattered the zombie's skull, splattering red and white everywhere.

"I've never seen such a beautiful red at home..."

Xu Xiaoyou began to feel worried about the survival environment of the girl named Yueyue; her mental state didn't seem very stable.

"Move back, let's regroup in Car D13 and keep those guys out!"

An energetic shout came from the darkness, as a woman, who seemed to be the leader of their group, raised the ignited flare in her hand, driving away the surrounding darkness, allowing people to see her clearly.

Dozens of zombies squeezed through the narrow passage, charging frenziedly at the woman like a putrid tide. One player didn't have time to react and was knocked to the ground, his belly slashed open, and something blood-covered was ripped out by claws, heavily pixelated.

Those who could afford Oasis equipment were mostly rich kids from all over the world, and they had never seen such a scene before. The intense smell of blood and the terrifying sight made them vomit instantly, kneeling on the ground, their limbs torn apart like rag dolls by the zombies that arrived.

Their first Oasis adventure had probably left an indelible psychological impact.

Listening to the wails and screams, along with the eerie moans of the zombies, some NPCs in the squad sighed and shook their heads.

"The quality of this batch of recruits is terribly poor, we can't rely on them at all!"

"Cover, cover!"

"Open fire, cover them quickly!" A squad member, eyes wide with terror, aimed his rifle at the charging horde of rotten corpses and fired wildly.

"Conserve your ammo!"

"Where's the doctor, protect the doctor, aargh!" Another squad member was knocked down by a zombie, and under the bloody moon, five zombies devoured him.

Xu Xiaoyou marveled at how the plot got so intense right from the start, with several zombies flying past her as people around screamed in panic. The girl calmly looked around at the object someone had handed her amidst the chaos.

As the progress bar in the small circle of her vision reached 100%, a notification box emerged with the item's basic stats.

「Item: Homemade Air Rifle.」

「Quality: Dull (White)」

「Power: 7—13」

「Damage Type: Piercing」

「Usage Requirements: Firearm Basics, Crafting Basics」

「Item Description: Pathetically assembled from a pile of simple materials, you can't even use it if you don't understand its mechanism.」

"Doctor, what are you doing, doctor!"

Finally, a zombie noticed Xu Xiaoyou and lunged at her. Amidst countless frightened gazes, Xu Xiaoyou used her knee to brace against the zombie's chest and forced the homemade air rifle into its throat.

Bang——

A spray of blood bloomed on the girl's calm face!

「HP—47! You dealt a piercing (lethal) blow to the 'Mutant'; the damage triggered a critical hit!」

"Doctor...?" A squad member's gaze trembled, not believing what she saw. A usually frail doctor, who needed assistance walking, suddenly exhibited such combat prowess.

Xu Xiaoyou began her performance by raising her arm, using the protective armor plates to block the zombie's bites, and fired her air rifle into its abdomen, flames flickering, slicing through the bloody darkness.

The white gas from the rifle's muzzle blew out like the breath of death, whispering in the dark and mercilessly harvesting zombie lives! 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Xu Xiaoyou's power wasn't enough to resist three or five clustered zombies, so she choked one zombie by the neck, maneuvering while firing, one shot after another, blasting the zombies' heads, with the critical piercing damage prompt continually popping up!

As several zombies leaped together, Xu Xiaoyou used strength in her waist and abdomen to leap into the air, landing her feet on the top of the train carriage, running forward swiftly, dodging the attack while simultaneously snapping the zombie's neck below her, firing continuously in mid-air!

Both feet landed safely, surrounded by zombie corpses, Xu Xiaoyou's eyes were calm and indifferent, looking as if she had just completed a set of high-difficulty gymnastics, only she was dancing with death.

The blood moon hung high, the white research coat fluttered, her flowing golden hair drifted into the heart of every new player.

"Mom, I think I'm in love."

"Oh my God, she's so cool..."

"How can the gap between people be so wide?"

Xu Xiaoyou emptied the remaining bullets and casually handed the gun to a player still in shock.

The player's ID was 'Azure Sky', and his eyes reflected the gallant golden-haired girl and her dazzling ID.

——Dark Gold Rose.

Quickening her pace to leave the players' line of sight, Xu Xiaoyou's legs almost gave way, nearly collapsing to the ground. Compared to her real-life body, this one was too weak. Completing the previous set of high-difficulty moves had nearly exhausted her strength.

At that moment, a young girl appeared in time to support the exhausted Xu Xiaoyou, sky blue hair floating by in her vision, her determined eyes meeting Xu Xiaoyou's. This left the latter somewhat dazed until the girl started introducing herself:

"Hello, my name is Tang Qing, Doctor. I am the assistant you appointed not long ago. You can call me Xiaoqing."

"Take me to the back," Xu Xiaoyou nodded and said. Her coat now contained several bottles of black reagent, all game artifacts, presumably related to the beginner dungeon's plot.

The viewpoint focused on the frontline.

The brief interlude ended, and a new wave of zombies surged from the carriage in front, twisted faces cramming every corner of the ceiling, aisle, and carriage seats. Squad members and players quickly snapped out of their shock and grabbed available weapons to counter them.

"Caitlin!"

A muscular man, his old military uniform stained with black blood, shouted, drawing the players and NPC members of the squad to look towards him in a fearful hush. He held a bottle of ice-blue reagent aloft!

"The doctor has safely left; we're retreating!"

"Retreat!" Caitlin nodded at the sight, also shouting.

The players pushed and shoved to the front of the retreating line, fearing that the zombies might scratch their backsides, making for a comedic scene. Squad members in soldier attire provided covering fire for them, occasionally with a few individuals being pinned down by zombies, letting out chilling screams.

Upon hearing the cries coming from behind, the squad members' faces all darkened. To them, those were comrades who had been through life and death, and in the blink of an eye, these past companions had become rotten bones, an overwhelmingly heavy atmosphere gradually spreading through the team.

"What is our purpose in doing all this?" someone asked, voice trembling.

"Will there really be hope tomorrow?" another questioned, looking desolate.

"They all died..." someone sobbed, covering their face.

The players, like children who had done something wrong, moved cautiously to the back of the team, even if they were previously carefree, now shrinking their shoulders, not daring to make a sound.

"This game is too realistic..." someone whispered.

"It's almost like it's real, these NPCs feel like people with flesh and blood..."

The muscular man from earlier raised the ice-blue reagent in his hand high and threw it violently towards the back of the carriage. The icy gas suddenly spread, its sub-zero temperatures filling the entire section of the carriage in an instant, seeping into every seat, ceiling, and crevice.

The zombies' bodies, once running rapidly, had their joint limbs frozen like blocks of cold hard iron, their movements visibly slowing, and finally shattering like ice sculptures onto the ground. Occasionally, a few lunged at the emergency-sealed aisle door, their faces frostbitten, rotting and twisted in a frozen grimace.

...

Returning to the rear resistance headquarters, walking through narrow passageways, Xu Xiaoyou saw many dirty faces in the carriage: elderly who lowered their heads, avoiding her gaze; middle-aged women holding bawling infants; young boys with every inch of their skin blackened, their fingernails filled with grime; and a young man with narrowed eyes and a shaven head.

These were the bottom-tier refugees of this train section, all casting heavily resentful looks at her. Stationed soldiers stood by her side on high alert, keeping a close watch on any figure that might initiate a riot.

"What's the situation here?" Xu Xiaoyou asked Tang Qing, who was beside her.

"You lost your memory not long ago." Tang Qing's gaze was complex, as if thinking of something, letting out a long sigh. "The refugees here hate you, and the resistance soldiers are protecting your safety."

"Because you are the very culprit that caused this disaster, Doctor."
