My Lust System: I Inherited The Sin Of Lust And His Three Wives-Chapter 95: Trapping A Judge
Seated alone at the counter of the café with his hair disheveled and his clothes in disarray, Damain poured himself a glass of whiskey. With Judge Vance gone, the café was quiet and unnaturally peaceful.
He emptied the glass in one gulp and savored the burn of the alcohol as it ran down his throat.
With an exhausted gasp, Damain wiped his lips. At that same moment, the door swung open and Twenty walked in. He froze at the entrance, his eyes sweeping across the place before his nose began to twitch as though he were sniffing for something in particular.
"You can just check the security footage. There is no need to act this way." Damian chuckled at his antics.
Twenty hurried over like a child promised a gift and desperate to find it. He leaned in and whispered the question.
"Did you crack her?"
"Live in front of all your hidden cameras." Damian grinned.
Twenty jolted back with excitement, then clasped Damian’s hand in a loud, firm grip, his face bright with bubbling delight.
"I like men who make the best use of God’s gifts. Mr. Hill, permit me to say you are the best of them!"
Twenty pulled Damian into a hug, laughing loudly while the young lawyer merely smiled at his excitement. But how could he not be excited? The setup here was meant to serve purposes.
Influence Judge Vance’s decisions through her relationship with Damian. However, should that control ever slip, they could always fall back on the clip for outright blackmail.
Their judicial problems in Chicago were as good as covered as long as Damain kept his new lover in a good mood. This would also serve as a major advantage which they both planned to use to pull other capos and important members of their cartel to Twenty’s side.
Who would they follow?
The man who could make sure they never spent a night in a prison cell, or the man who would ask them to do things that would land them in a prison cell?
"All we need to do now is top up your income. We will make your territory the most luxurious and secure. We will prepare privileges for only those who follow you. Then just sit and watch as everyone abandons the boss and crawls to your side in hopes of getting a crumb of the power and wealth you will own by then."
Damian held Twenty’s shoulder firmly as he spoke those words, and Twenty’s eyes widened with excitement. His gaze turned unfocused as he drifted into visions of that amazing, almost mythical moment Damian was painting for him.
Twenty had always believed surviving an assassination that left ten bullets in his body was the luckiest thing that had ever happened in his life. But now he was beginning to believe meeting this lawyer beat even that. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"For the construction of the church, I got my surveyors out gathering information, you feel me... we will get feedback on a good place to buy." Twenty said, but Damain casually waved him off with a tired expression.
"No more work, man. I’m beat." Damain sighed as he walked over to one of the comfortable seats with his glass and bottle of whiskey in hand.
Twenty grinned, picked up a glass, and followed Damian. He sat on the opposite side and stared him square in the face before asking,
"Found a vacation spot yet?"
Twenty asked, and Damain shook his head while looking through the narrow gap between the blinds on the window.
"I haven’t even had the time to check anything out. Got ideas?"
Damain poured himself a half-full glass, then did the same for Twenty before setting the bottle down. The entire time, he never broke eye contact.
"I understand." Twenty was not surprised.
He already knew of Damain’s workload and the responsibilities that came with it. The fact that he had called Twenty up just the previous night to set this place up made him believe he might be taking on a new case much bigger than his. Regardless, it gave him the chance to see how Damain worked from a third-person perspective, and he was not disappointed.
This was what he needed. A conglomerate who thought and acted dirty without batting an eye when necessary. Even till today, Twenty still could not understand how Damian had managed to convince Mama Breezy. Just like the police had checked, there was no sign of abuse or force. In fact, she had testified with such strong conviction that it would have made Twenty believe her if he had not been the one who pulled the trigger that night.
This man was not just full of secrets, but pleasant ones. That was why Twenty wanted him by his side at all costs.
"So tell me, what kind of place do you have in mind?" he asked, hoping to help his friend solve this problem.
Damian had given too much. He needed to give back to this man one way or another. There was a slight pause in Damain’s movements as he pondered the question in silence for a while before looking up and answering.
"I’m not sure. Just somewhere private where I don’t have to see people’s faces and I can relax with my wife and girlfriend."
Girlfriend?
Twenty jolted back in shock. But it was not just that. His wife and girlfriend were going on the vacation with him, and from the way he said it, it sounded completely normal.
’This man has serious potential. I see why that demon picked him as his student. These devils only pick out the talented ones!’
Ehem!
Twenty gave an awkward cough to cover his shock and said,
"Then why don’t you rent out an island in the Maldives..."
Damian’s eyes lit up at once.
"Yeah... the Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah should be perfect." Twenty said with a firm nod.
Damian quickly pulled out his phone and began searching for the location on the web.
"How long do you plan to spend there?" Twenty asked.
"A week... I have a court hearing for a councilman a month from now." Damain answered honestly and absentmindedly.
Twenty was taken aback. He did not think Damain would get this close to a very high-value client so fast. He wanted to ask more questions, but he worried it would rub Damain the wrong way, since attorneys did not like talking about their clients.
’But we are brothers now, there should be no secrets between us.’ Twenty wrestled with his thoughts over Damain’s identity.
Was he a brother or a superior?
He could not tell. The fear he felt around this man overshadowed almost everything else.
"You look like you are going to explode if you don’t get those thoughts off your chest." Damain’s voice jolted him, causing him to knock over his drink and spill it everywhere.
Surprisingly, Damian had begun relying on his predatory instincts more than anything else. This ability allowed him to monitor moods and act in tune with them, which was why he had suddenly gone from a timid person to a good conversationalist overnight.
At first, he had believed it was useless, but now it had become even more important than most of his offensive abilities. Seeing that Twenty was still tongue-tied, he decided to continue speaking while reading the vacation site information on his phone.
"I have decided to ditch this firm and step into the political scene next year, and I plan to use this case as a stepping stone. If you want to be invincible, you need political power as well, so I’ll need you to prepare your most trusted men who will join me in this venture. We must secure every form of power we can get our hands on. Political, physical, financial, and spiritual. We will have it all." He only raised his head to shoot Twenty a smile at the very end of his speech.
Twenty, flustered and frozen once again, felt his heart pounding. This man had just resolved his worries without him asking, and by pulling his people along, what greater show of loyalty was there?
No, Twenty could not hold back anymore. He needed to be useful to this man as well.
"Mr. Hill, you know what? Let me handle your vacation for you. Allow my lil brothers to do all the registrations for your vacation. You will be getting everything by Sunday." He quickly reached for Damain’s hand and slowly pulled the phone away from him before setting it on the table.
Damain could only watch him with a small smile. Twenty, just like everyone else, had become another piece on his chessboard, and as such, the Black Apostles cartel would follow suit by default once it fell into his hands.
