Chapter 73: I-Is He Really Human?!

A giant hawk descended from the sky, seemingly about to land on the barracks. Just as it got close, a loud screech reverberated in the forest.

The Gryphon, Astravor, descended from the peak of the mountain and confronted the newcomer that dared to trespass its domain.

The giant hawk hovered in place, pausing its descent. However, it didn’t seem the least bit intimidated by the Gryphon. Its sharp eyes locked onto the monster’s body, ready to attack if it were to fly closer.

Astravor also held its ground, but didn’t advance further. It sensed that the giant hawk wasn’t an easy opponent.

In fact, the hawk felt stronger than it!

But Astravor didn’t feel that intimidated. It had fought opponents stronger than it before. The only reason it held back from attacking was the old man who was riding on the back of the giant hawk.

The Gryphon’s instincts screamed at it. That it shouldn’t attack no matter what. That if it did, it would be the last thing it would do in this world!

As such, Astravor only hovered in place and glared at the newcomers. It was still the Guardian of the Grimjaw Mountain, so it wouldn’t back down, even when faced with someone stronger than it!

Thinking the matter would escalate in the wrong direction, Gundar quickly came up with a way to settle things properly. With that, he decided to introduce himself first.

"I am Gundar of the Grimhowl Tribe," Gundar introduced himself after taking off the hood that covered his head. "And I have come to meet with Ulric of the Alborin Tribe. I don’t mean any harm. I simply wish to talk to an old friend."

Fortunately, Ulric was at the barracks and recognized the old man after the latter removed the hood covering his face.

"Great Uncle?" Ulric looked at Gundar in surprise. "Leone, can I please borrow Arion for a while?"

"Of course," Leone replied.

"Thank you very much." Ulric mounted the Pegasus and flew to where his great uncle’s hawk hovered, directly facing Astravor, the guardian of the Grimjaw Mountain.

The Gryphon and Leone had a non-aggression pact with each other, so Astravor didn’t attack any of the tribe members who were now under the young man’s protection. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

As soon as Ulric arrived, he bowed respectfully to Astravor first.

"Great Guardian, he is my Great Uncle," Ulric said in a respectful tone. "Please let him pass. He means no harm."

Astravor gave Ulric a side-long glance before shifting his attention back to the old man. The gryphon gave Gundar a long hard stare before flying back to the top of the mountain.

Seeing the Gryphon leave, Ulric was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief and faced his Great Uncle with a smile.

"Great Uncle, it’s been years since we last saw each other," Ulric said with a smile. "I’m glad to see you still hale and healthy."

Gundar nodded. "And you look younger and stronger than the last time I saw you, Ulric. It seems that the news about the Alborin Tribe getting a second wind is true."

"Please follow me, Great Uncle," Ulric urged before asking Arion to land at the barracks so he could introduce him to their Great Chieftain.

"Good." Gundar smiled and followed his nephew to the barracks.

When the hawk finally landed, everyone’s gaze was locked on its powerful looking body.

It was at least three-meters tall. Based on what it looked like, it must be at the prime of its life. A monster like this could even fight a deathmatch against the guardian of the Grimjaw Mountain and actually win.

Gundar scanned the faces of everyone around him before landing on a person wearing a lion mask.

He couldn’t identify the person’s age because he was wearing a mask. However, the vision he had seen was of a young lion, so he believed this person was a young man.

For a few seconds, his gaze was momentarily drawn to the book the masked man was holding, but he soon shifted his attention back to his mask.

’So it’s you,’ Gundar thought as he stared at the person he was looking for.

When Ulric went to meet Gundar in the sky, Daedalus hurriedly told Leone to wear a mask to hide his face.

The mask was a gift Daedalus had given him on the night he decided to name his kingdom. It was a perfect mask. It thoroughly hid his true identity from strangers who come to their camp.

"Careful, Leone," Daedalus said through telepathy. "This old man is very strong. He’s no ordinary person."

"How strong is he?" Leone asked.

"Let me show you," Daedalus replied. "Open my pages."

Leone did as he was told and opened the pages as if he was just about to read something. But when he saw the old man’s Status Page, he almost gasped in shock. His status page was astonishing!

"I-Is he really human?!" Leone asked Daedalus in disbelief. "What kind of status page is this?!"

"Your reaction is understandable, Leone," Daedalus replied calmly. "But you should know... There are beings in this world that far surpass this old man’s stats. However, he is the first true powerhouse you have encountered, and you have no way to deal with him. So make sure you do not offend him no matter what!

"He alone can massacre everyone here. Even if we all fight him at the same time, we still can’t possibly win. No matter what happens, do not make him an enemy!"

Leone didn’t need to be told twice. Seeing the stats alone was enough to tell him that this old man wasn’t someone that could be defeated even if they were to put their lives on the line.

Ulric, who had no idea what Leone was seeing, walked toward him with a big smile on his face.

Clearly, he wanted to introduce his "Great Uncle" to Leone, who was still reeling from the shock of seeing Gundar’s Status Page.

’I just hope he’s friendly,’ Leone thought while doing his best to remain calm.

This was the first time he met someone this powerful, so the best thing that he could do was to give a good first impression by calling him Great Uncle as well!
