My Joker System: From Low Mana Trash to the Mightiest Wizard!-Chapter 161: A Union President’s Duties
Chapter 161: A Union President’s Duties
"Aihh... damn it..." Hal cursed in exhaustion after a fierce struggle to make everyone leave as politely as his patience allowed.
Beside him, Vyse observed with an amused expression, clearly not taking things too seriously.
He had stated in the posters that recruitment would start tomorrow.
Yet, before they could even set up a table at the academy square, the applicants had already managed to learn the location of the Union Chamber and swarm in, hoping to get ahead of others.
Hal appreciated their eagerness.
However, the union wasn’t ready to accept members yet, as there was still much to be set up inside the chamber.
The rewards shelf, the request board, and the furniture were yet to be put in place.
Heck, he hadn’t even crafted the artifacts that were in the list of redeemable rewards yet, and there was still the need to think about the proper point exchange system.
He would suffer a huge loss if the system favored the members too much.
On the other hand, no one would be willing to complete the union requests if the rewards were too meager.
He had to find the right mix, and since Vyse seemed experienced and relaxed enough...
Hal turned to the sophomore.
"Vyse, come with me for a bit."
The two then entered the storage room, where Hal opened his sack bag and placed three rare-tier and ten uncommon-tier spellbook vouchers, leaving Vyse wide-eyed.
"Y-You’re seriously going to give all those away? Those must’ve cost around twenty-three gold coins, no?"
But Hal didn’t stop there.
He pulled another four vouchers from the bag and laid them out on the table, causing the sophomore to finally choke on his saliva.
Weren’t those the rewards for the Arcana Primis Cup Champion?!
"Hey! I get it, stop!" Vyse begged. "I know you’re serious now. I’ll also take this seriously, alright? You don’t need to give those away."
"Oh, but I want to," Hal responded with an honest smile.
’I don’t need them, anyway...’
He had no use for the vouchers and wasn’t allowed to sell them, but no one had prohibited him from using them as rewards for his student union.
Plus...
"They’re only up for grabs until I graduate, anyway," he added. "If they can’t redeem it by then, then too bad for them. Ah, but I’ll leave the other vouchers to the union."
Hal had a grand plan for the Chaosbringers Coven, and he intended to support it even after he graduated.
He was simply using the resources available to him to make it one of the best and most renowned unions in the academy before he left.
That way, he would benefit more in the long run.
"D-Damn... all of this would cost at least seventy gold coins..." Vyse muttered as he eyed the Unique-tier spellbook voucher.
Even he was tempted to work hard.
Hal noticed that the sophomore wanted the Unique-tier voucher but pretended not to.
"Since you know the costs of these items so well, I’ll leave the point exchange system to you. It’s alright if you make it lean very slightly in favor of the members, but not too much. Who knows, maybe if the union does well, you’ll get a reward you genuinely want from the president."
Vyse knew he’d fallen into Hal’s trap.
However, it wasn’t too bad. Perhaps that Unique-tier voucher would ultimately end up with him?
Even his family would have to spend a small portion of their coin reserves to buy him one, and he wasn’t willing to owe them more than he already did.
"Fine, I’ll carefully plan it tonight and have it ready by tomorrow morning. I’ll only drop by early at the seventh hour, though, since I have classes until the fifteenth. I’ll help with the union stuff after."
Hal nodded appreciatively and headed out first.
"Well, see you tomorrow, then. I’ll fetch the artifacts from Joker and bring them here as well."
Vyse momentarily froze as Hal mentioned the celebrated young arcanist again, still finding it hard to believe that he truly had connections with the man.
Of course, Hal was lying about the word "fetch," since he would be crafting the artifacts himself using the materials he had purchased, or rather received for free, from Wanzin’s Arcane Emporium, since they were merely F-ranked and E-ranked items anyway.
Maximus was not one to miss an opportunity to get closer to "Joker" at as little cost as possible.
Arriving at his dormitory room around fifteen minutes later, Hal prepared food for Loki, and the two brought the meal to the topmost floor of the academy’s seventh magic tower through the Void Key handed to him by his soon-to-be master, Isolde.
He allowed the adolescent wolf cub to come with him, but the little one could only sightsee along the narrow circular hallways.
Loki wasn’t allowed to enter the workshop, as there was a chance he might distract Hal with even a simple yawn.
That was how important focus was when crafting arcane artifacts.
From early evening until late at night, all Hal did was craft artifacts, completing a total of ten [Common]-tier ones, all of mastercraft grade, and three [Uncommon]-tier ones.
Of the latter, one was of superior grade, while the other two were of mastercraft grade.
It was inevitable that Hal had gotten a little rusty, despite the knowledge being deeply engraved in his mind by the Joker System’s quest rewards.
Tired after a continuous grind for a little over six hours, Hal slept well that night, waking up at around the seventh hour with a fully rested body and mind.
He leisurely prepared and ate a nice breakfast with his dear Loki before heading to the bathroom to take a bath, donning a fresh set of the Grand Magic Academy’s uniform soon after.
He then headed straight to the union chamber to add the artifacts to the rewards display shelf, beneath the spellbook vouchers.
To his delight, the applicants followed the rules this time, applying in the academy square instead of storming the chamber.
They were only allowed inside once they were already members, after all.
He would check the full list of applicants later with Vyse and decide with him who the remaining fifty-two members would be.
For now, he had done everything he could for the union and had earned some free time for himself.
