Chapter 231 — WHEN SOVEREIGNS DEFY HEAVEN

The sky above the shattered city had become something unnatural. Clouds no longer drifted; they twisted violently, pulled into spiraling currents by the overwhelming forces colliding above the skyline. Far below, entire districts burned while evacuation convoys pushed civilians toward the outskirts of the city and helicopters circled the disaster zone, though even they were beginning to retreat farther away from the epicenter of the battle.

Because above the city Heaven itself had arrived. Six radiant rings burned across the sky like newborn stars, each one slowly descending through the storm clouds. Their light was not warm and carried no glow of life. It was sterile, precise, the kind of light that erased things.

Beneath them two colossal figures moved through the storm as Long Hao hovered in his transformed state with wings stretched wide, black-gold energy rippling across the sky while every movement distorted the surrounding air currents. Nearby the Jade Dragon floated in tense silence, emerald lightning crawling across its scales like living veins of power that illuminated the storm clouds around its massive body.

For a brief moment neither of them moved. Long Hao looked up at the glowing rings descending toward the battlefield and muttered if the feeling that someone really did not like them was accurate. The Jade Dragon answered that Heaven had never tolerated Sovereigns. Long Hao flexed his claws and studied the six luminous figures hovering far above the rings, remarking that they were definitely not fans.

The central Executor raised its hand and its voice rolled across the sky like a sentence carved into reality itself.

"Final eradication sequence authorized."

The five remaining rings ignited brighter and energy began gathering within them. Below the Eight watched in grim silence while Han slowly lowered his binoculars and muttered that the attack did not look like a beam strike. Nyx shook her head and replied that they were collapsing the battlefield. Kovács’ sensors screamed warnings beside her as energy output rose exponentially. When Han asked what that meant, Kovács swallowed and answered quietly that it meant regional annihilation.

Above the battlefield Long Hao stared upward and muttered that the situation tracked before rolling his shoulders as his wings flexed behind him. He looked toward the Jade Dragon and asked if it was ready. The emerald dragon snorted and replied that it had fought Heaven before. Long Hao blinked in surprise while the Jade Dragon spread its wings wider and declared it would do so again.Long Hao grinned and answered that made two of them. The sky brightened suddenly as the rings began firing—not beams but columns.

Five enormous pillars of white light tore downward from the heavens like falling stars. For a fraction of a second, the entire sky turned white as the descending columns did not simply fall but crushed downward, dragging the surrounding atmosphere with them. Storm clouds were ripped apart as the beams punched through layer after layer of sky, thunder detonating across the battlefield while the pressure alone flattened entire cloud banks beneath the descending light. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Long Hao felt the force instantly even before the beams reached him as the air thickened, gravity bent, and the Eclipse Dragon’s wings strained against the invisible pressure pouring from the descending pillars. "...Okay," Long Hao muttered, "That’s new." The first beam struck the battlefield far below and for half a heartbeat there was silence before the sky exploded. A shockwave erupted upward through the storm like the detonation of a celestial weapon as entire layers of cloud vaporized instantly and the beam carved a glowing scar through the atmosphere. Below, the ruined city shook violently as glass shattered across dozens of buildings, collapsed structures crumbled further, and helicopters fled the blast radius.

Above the destruction another beam descended, this one closer, forcing Long Hao to twist sideways as the pillar of light tore past his wing by meters while heat rippled across his scales and the beam slammed through the clouds beneath him. The Jade Dragon roared somewhere behind him, emerald lightning erupting across the storm as another beam descended, then another, until the sky filled with falling pillars of annihilation while the Executors hovered above it all—silent, watching, adjusting like surgeons observing the effect of each strike. Long Hao exhaled slowly. "...Yeah. This is definitely getting worse."

Long Hao moved instantly as the Eclipse Dragon shot sideways through the storm, wings slicing through clouds while the first beam tore past him and obliterated the cloud layer beneath.

The impact detonated like a nuclear blast as vaporized clouds and shockwaves rippled outward across the battlefield. Nearby the Jade Dragon twisted through the sky as another column slammed into the space it had occupied moments earlier while emerald lightning surged across its wings. Another beam angled and began tracking Long Hao, forcing him upward as he twisted mid-flight and unleashed

"Eclipse Vector Break!"

Black-gold energy exploded outward and gravitational distortion deflected the beam so the column carved through the clouds and vanished into the upper atmosphere instead. Below Han stared upward in disbelief while Nyx confirmed he had redirected the attack but that it had taken a toll on him. Long Hao exhaled sharply and muttered that the trick hurt while the Jade Dragon roared and emerald power surged outward as it told him to focus.

Two Executors descended with radiant wings flaring. The first appeared before Long Hao without warning and swung a blade of white light across the sky. Long Hao raised his claw and the collision detonated through the storm, golden and white energy exploding outward as he was pushed backward hundreds of meters through the clouds. Long Hao shouted that the strike had weight while the Executor hovered silently with armor untouched and announced "Anomaly resistance increasing."

Long Hao snorted that they talked like broken machines. Then emerald lightning erupted behind the Executor as the Jade Dragon struck from the storm, its claw tearing through the clouds and slamming the divine figure downward through the sky as the impact cracked the heavens.

Below Han grinned and shouted that the teamwork was working while the Executor recovered midair almost instantly and hovered again as its wings expanded slowly. The remaining Executors descended slightly as white light gathered around them and the central one spoke again: "Reassessment complete."

Long Hao frowned and muttered that the phrase did not sound good while the Jade Dragon growled quietly that they were escalating. All five Executors raised their hands simultaneously and the rings above the battlefield began spinning while the entire sky seemed to tilt as gravitational forces warped around them. Inside Long Hao’s mind Longyu’s voice echoed softly, explaining that they were opening a divine domain. Long Hao blinked and asked what that meant. She answered that they were turning the sky itself into a weapon.

Long Hao sighed and looked toward the Jade Dragon, asking if it had any better ideas. The emerald dragon stared upward before roaring as emerald lightning exploded across the sky and declared that they would break them. Long Hao grinned as black-gold energy surged across the storm again and the Eclipse Dragon launched upward toward Heaven while the war in the sky intensified.
