Chapter 99: 99. The Winner.

"By the judgment of the officials, and by the scoring system of the fifth trial, this match concludes in a tie." Lilith announced as she raised one hand and the projection crystals showed the positions of every contestants that took part in the tournament.

Seeing it, several gasps of spectators rippled through the stands.

"What?!"

"A draw?!"

"They tied?!"

Lilith’s wings shifted slightly as she continued "Prince Astaroth of House Gremory and Princess Astrid of House Belphegor have achieved identical scores."

Hearing this, a strange and electric awe spread through the arena instead.

It was strange but it was clear for everyone to see.

Both Astrid and Aster had similar strength.

Similar ability to control and utilize their aura

Meanwhile, Aster finally lifted his head, with his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked toward Astrid.

Astrid met his gaze and the first time since stepping into the arena, she made a small, exhausted smile.

Lilith descended fully, with her heels touching the broken stone.

Although, their voices weren’t really loud, but she could definitely hear a few spectators hoping the fight could continue for a winner to be decided but Lilith shook her head before opening her mouth to speak.

"There will be no rematch. The rules are clear. This trial is over and our champions are Prince Astaroth and Princess Astrid."

She turned toward the spectators as she continued. "Therefore, the fifth trial concludes with a shared first rank position."

Hearing this, the silence of the arena broke into thunder as the spectators exploded with cheers louder than ever before.

Once again , the contestants names flashed across the projection crystals.

**FIRST RANK**

Prince Astaroth of House Gremory

Princess Astrid of House Belphegor

******

Below that, the rest of the rankings began to settle but few cared about this

All eyes were on the two figures at the center of the ruined arena and Aster pushed himself fully upright, breathing steady despite the burns and frost marks across his clothes.

Astrid straightened as well, wincing slightly before forcing herself to stand without support.

"...You didn’t hold back," Aster said quietly.

Astrid shook her head. "And why should I? When you clearly didn’t hold back either."

Astrid paused before extending her hand to him.

Noticing this, Aster blinked once, then took it and the crowd noticed this before cheering even louder.

Meanwhile, high above, in the royal stands, different reactions unfolded in their own quiet ways with Lily clapping so hard her hands turned red.

"They both won!" she shouted happily. "Mama, they both won!"

Vivian sighed in relief with a smile.

"Of course they did dear. As expected of Mama’s little dragon," she said softly and nearby, Isabella leaned back in her seat.

For the first time since the tournament began, she closed her eyes briefly with a beautiful smile on her face.

A few weeks ago, Astrid had boldly stared her in the face, telling her of her desire to follow her dreams, rather than taking part in the tournament.

However, Isabella was against this because unlike her young, inexperienced daughter, Isabella wasn’t going to just sit back and watch how her daughter would turn her into a laughing stock among the demon lords, so Isabella agreed to allow Astrid to follow her dreams on the account of winning this tournament.

If she were able to win this tournament, Astrid would be free to do whatever she wanted.

Of course, Isabella wasn’t a cruel and heartless mother.

She wanted what was best for her daughter and nothing would make her happier than seeing her own daughter doing something she loves.

However, Isabella wanted her to be respected in the eyes of demons across the continent and the demon lords as well...

And now that she had won the tournament, Astrid had certainly become the most popular young demon across the continent, along with the dragon prince as well.

Now, there was nothing stopping her from doing what she loved while also being famous while at it.

Acknowledging this, Isabella’s smile widened even more as she recalled the first time Astrid brazenly looked her in the eyes to talk to her.

It was the first time her daughter had ever done that in years and Isabella couldn’t help but wonder what or who could have given her the courage to do such a thing. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

While thinking about this, Isabella suddenly noticed Astrid smiling as she helped Aster stand up on his feet.

Seeing the two of them smiling and giggling allowed her to understand everything she wanted to know.

"Ufufufu~ now, it all makes sense." She murmured to herself before suddenly hearing Rowena’s voice.

"Unbelievable." Rowena said while laughing. "The battle ended in a tie. What a really entertaining battle."

"Indeed, it was." Aurora added as her wings folded loosely behind her. "It seems your race is slowly nurturing two young monsters of their generation." She complimented while glancing at Vivian.

But Vivian giggled as she looked at Hallie. "Oh, don’t compliment me alone. Hallie and so many others had a huge role to play in creating the monster you see before you."

Hallie remained silent as she stared at both Aster and Astrid but there was a slight smile at the edge of her carved lips, indicating that even the beautiful female butler was proud of what she was seeing.

On the other hand, the fans continued to cheer while officials began to fix the destroyed platform as Lilith finally announced that the Demon Youth Tournament had come to an end.

However, many demons across the continent knew that this was certainly the beginning of both Aster and Astrid’s journey as young prodigies...

More healers and officials rushed over to the arena platform but while they did, Aster and Astrid were guided slowly toward the exit while making their final goodbyes to the cheering fans.

But the moment they stepped beyond the arena gates, the noise of the arena vanished.

But it wasn’t only that because the roar of the crowds, the intense heat of the arena, and the pressure that had clung to their skin for hours now all dropped away at once, allowing them to feel relieved about the tournament officially coming to an end.
