My Five Bigshot Seniors: I am The Most Coddled Junior!-Chapter 99 - 51: Out of Contact [Part 2]
Si Lin woke up from that dazed feeling, finding himself in mid-air, his body falling downward. He did not panic, stabilized his figure, then closed his eyes, using his Divine Sense to search for Gu Qingqing’s trace.
His Divine Sense covered an area within fifty miles, but he did not find a trace of Gu Qingqing’s figure, causing his brows to furrow slightly.
Just as he was about to expand the range of his Divine Sense, a noise broke through the air behind him. His body reacted faster than his consciousness, and he dived forward, rolling once to avoid the attack, and then turned around to see what was attacking him.
It was a large eagle, about two meters tall, with golden-red feathers and black eyes that were extremely sharp. Its beak was black and very pointed, glinting with a cold light in the sunlight.
This was a Cloud Shadow Eagle, a seventh-tier peak demon beast.
Si Lin hadn’t anticipated that there would be a seventh-tier peak demon beast within the Immortal Secret Realm, and his brow knitted further, his first reaction being worry for Gu Qingqing.
Gu Qingqing’s current cultivation is only at the sixth-tier peak, and even if she has Word Spirit Technique, the cost of using such a technique is considerable. If Gu Qingqing were to encounter a demon beast above tier seven, it would undoubtedly be very dangerous!
With this thought, Si Lin wished he could immediately rush to Gu Qingqing’s side to protect her!
The Cloud Shadow Eagle opposite him, however, did not give Si Lin time to think about these things. Missing the prey on the first strike had already displeased the eagle. It paused to gather strength, aiming for a one-hit success.
With a sharp cry, it swooped down again towards Si Lin.
Si Lin dared not be careless, stretched out his hand, and the Dragon Capturing Sword automatically appeared in his hand, positioned across his chest, facing the Cloud Shadow Eagle.
The Cloud Shadow Eagle’s sharp claws grabbed at Si Lin, and if caught, it would fracture even Si Lin’s bones. He twisted his wrist, blocking the Cloud Shadow Eagle’s claws with the Dragon Capturing Sword. The collision emitted the sound of striking metal, even sparking some flames.
Obviously, the Dragon Capturing Sword was sharper than the Cloud Shadow Eagle’s claws. Feeling pain, the eagle flew up, stopping ten meters in front of Si Lin, glaring at him with its predatory gaze.
The Cloud Shadow Eagle underestimated Si Lin, not expecting him to remain as firm as a mountain amidst its created storm, still launching attacks. Its wings got slashed by the Sword Qi, bleeding profusely after a short while.
It had to stop flapping its wings to protect them. However, Si Lin was determined to finish it quickly, regardless of its reaction.
He released his grip, allowing the Dragon Capturing Sword to leave his hand, suspended in mid-air. His hands rapidly formed seals, directing toward the Cloud Shadow Eagle. Instantly, the Dragon Capturing Sword unleashed hundreds of strands of Sword Qi, forming a Sword Net, ensnaring the Cloud Shadow Eagle.
The Cloud Shadow Eagle wanted to escape but found it impossible.
The Sword Qi slashed it repeatedly, drawing hideous screams from its beak.
Yet, being a seventh-tier demon beast, it did not die even with wounds all over its body, glaring spitefully at Si Lin.
Suddenly, it let out a piercing screech vastly different from before, which even left Si Lin momentarily dazed. At that moment, it seized the chance to rush in front of Si Lin, viciously pecking at his neck. Si Lin instinctively dodged a fatal blow, but his shoulder got injured by the Cloud Shadow Eagle’s peck.
Clutching his shoulder, Si Lin’s face turned grim, staring at the Cloud Shadow Eagle as if looking at a dead object.
"Dragon Capturing Sword!" He shouted, and the Dragon Capturing Sword performed a sword flower mid-air, piercing through the Cloud Shadow Eagle’s head at a speed invisible to the naked eye.
Even the formidable Cloud Shadow Eagle couldn’t withstand having its head pierced, its body plummeting towards the ground from mid-air. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Ignoring the Cloud Shadow Eagle’s corpse, Si Lin looked at the wound on his shoulder, frowning.
He had been injured before; as a Sword Cultivator, sustaining injuries was common. However, there was once when Gu Qingqing saw him injured, and the young girl worried for days. Since then, he always tried to get injured less frequently, or at least heal during meetings with Gu Qingqing. Now with a shoulder injury, he certainly couldn’t see Gu Qingqing right away.
Landing on the ground, he found a large tree to stand upon, loosened his clothing to reveal his shoulder, and applied the healing salve Mu Chen had prepared for them. Fortunately, Mu Chen’s concoction was reliable, effective in its application as the wound scabbed over quickly.
With his clothing ruined, he calmly changed outfits. After confirming everything was alright, he took out the talisman Rong Ye gave him. However, after imbuing it with Spiritual Power, the talisman did not react. He tried another one; still, the same. Looking at the talisman in hand, he frowned and stored it away, heading in a direction based on his Divine Sense.
...
Yue Zhao awoke from his daze beside a lake, facing it, able to see a stretch of lotus flowers on the lake’s surface. All these lotuses were not the common light pink or white but fiery red, each emitting a dense Spiritual Energy, clearly not ordinary lotuses but Spirit Flowers.
"Blood Phoenix Lotus!" As the encyclopedia of Spirit Hidden Mountain, Yue Zhao immediately recognized that the lotuses in front of him were seventh-grade Spirit Flowers—the Blood Phoenix Lotus—scarce even in the Sub-immortal Realm.
Blood Phoenix Lotus is an essential herb for concocting more than a dozen kinds of high-level elixirs, and if consumed directly, it can boost one’s cultivation by one tier, making it a very sought-after Spirit Flower.
However, it only grows in areas with extremely dense Spiritual Power and is very rare, hence very precious even in the Sub-immortal Realm.
Even someone accustomed to seeing good things like Yue Zhao was still astonished to see so many Blood Phoenix Lotuses at once. Looking around, there appeared to be over a hundred!
Unconsciously, he thought of Mu Chen. If he were here, Mu Chen would probably go insane with joy. Previously, Mu Chen had obtained one Blood Phoenix Lotus from an auction and treated it as the supreme treasure, not even allowing them to see it!
Thinking so, he couldn’t help walking forward, wanting to pick some Blood Phoenix Lotuses to give to Mu Chen when they met.
However, as he approached the lake, alarm bells rang in his mind, a strong sense of crisis washing over him. He immediately stepped back two paces, putting some distance between himself and the lake.
He had just stood firm when he saw the lake water begin to churn. Ripples spread across the surface, and from high above, a black shadow could be seen moving beneath the rising water, gradually revealing its true form.
It was a massive Jiao Snake, with a pair of small horns atop its head. Its body was thick, and covered in black scales, though closer inspection would reveal certain spots lacked scales and there was a protruding bulge beneath them.
Evidently, this was a Black Flood Dragon close to undergoing Dragon Transformation.
The Black Flood Dragon’s lower body remained submerged in the lake, while its upper body was reared high, its lantern-sized vertical pupils fixated on Yue Zhao standing on the shore. Its tongue flicked from its mouth, and then, human speech emerged from its jaws.
"Leave this place, human, and I’ll spare your life!" a deep male voice emanated from the Black Flood Dragon’s mouth, its gaze locked onto Yue Zhao, exuding an aura approaching ninth level.
Yue Zhao’s smile didn’t waver due to the creature’s words. He looked behind the Black Flood Dragon at those Blood Phoenix Lotus flowers, his grin deepening.
"You can have me leave, but give me a few Blood Phoenix Lotus flowers." His voice rang clear and calm.
The Black Flood Dragon thought that after what it said, the human would obediently leave, but Yue Zhao not only refused to leave quietly but dared to make demands, stirring its fury. It unleashed its pressure directly at Yue Zhao.
Here, in the Immortal Secret Realm and not Xuantian Continent, Yue Zhao had no need to suppress his cultivation. His aura climbed steadily, ultimately stopping at the same eighth level peak as the Black Flood Dragon.
Their auras collided in mid-air, causing the lake water to explode upwards. Feeling the water surge toward him, Yue Zhao squinted, flicking his sleeve and blocking the water back into the lake, maintaining his unchanging smile at the Black Flood Dragon.
The Black Flood Dragon was shocked once more, having initially perceived the human’s cultivation as merely sixth level peak, far too weak to challenge it, let alone fill its teeth. Yet unexpectedly, the opponent had hidden his strength, matching its own cultivation!
Though surprised, the Black Flood Dragon didn’t fear. Knowing the human sought the Blood Phoenix Lotus behind it, the creature realized Yue Zhao wouldn’t leave. The flowers were vital to its Dragon Transformation, meaning they could not be shared; they were destined enemies.
No politeness was needed toward an enemy.
The man and the Jiao Snake simultaneously launched their attacks.
Yue Zhao waved his hand, and the Flowing Light Zither floated in front of him. He placed his fingers on the strings, gently plucking them.
"Zheng!"
As the zither sounded, the area of the lake was directly locked by Yue Zhao.
Pleasant zither music flowed from his fingertips, transforming into Sound Blades aimed toward the Black Flood Dragon. The creature’s massive body was clumsy against the Sound Blades, hit numerous times, but the scales were hard enough to only leave white marks, not true wounds.
Seeing this, Yue Zhao raised an eyebrow, changing his Finger Technique, altering the tune instantly.
Where the previous melody was softer, this new tune brimmed with killing intent, its Sound Blades far more potent, slicing the Black Flood Dragon’s scales and drawing crimson blood.
Repeatedly shocked by Yue Zhao, the Black Flood Dragon grew furious, opening its jaws and swiftly lunging toward Yue Zhao.
If caught, Yue Zhao would surely be devoured instantly.
As the jaws neared Yue Zhao, his silhouette flickered, appearing right atop the creature’s head, stomping hard on its crown.
Closing its mouth, the Black Flood Dragon realized it missed, feeling the pain on its head, it quickly changed direction, lunging again at Yue Zhao, shooting a Water Sword from its final position at a startling speed toward him.
Yue Zhao’s expression tightened, his hands unceasingly playing while his body continuously shifted position, dodging the Black Flood Dragon’s attacks.
Compared to Yue Zhao, the Black Flood Dragon’s attacks were simplistic, bound by the lake’s constraints, unable to move freely, clearly at a disadvantage.
Yue Zhao’s Sound Blades continuously cut into the creature’s body, each strike not intensely painful but the Black Flood Dragon found itself gradually covered in numerous wounds, now bleeding, the lake surface tinted red.
Despite this, the Black Flood Dragon’s movements remained largely unaffected, persistently lunging for Yue Zhao.
Yet Yue Zhao grew weary of constant evasions, his gaze flashed subtly, devising a quick plan.
His Finger Technique altered once again, the tune’s former ferocity suddenly becoming soothing.
While dodging, Yue Zhao played the melody, as his composition reached one-third completion, the Black Flood Dragon’s actions slowed, and by two-thirds, its reactions significantly sluggish. When Yue Zhao finished the piece, the Black Flood Dragon fell asleep.
Its body plummeted back into the lake, splashing, yet the creature was oblivious, having seemingly lost consciousness.
It turned out Yue Zhao had played a hypnotic song, directly sending the Black Flood Dragon to sleep, leaving it unconscious until the next day absent interruptions.
Confirming the Black Flood Dragon’s slumber, Yue Zhao approached the Blood Phoenix Lotus, taking half rather than stripping them all. Sympathizing with the Black Flood Dragon’s difficult transformation, he hesitated, leaving a Jade Bottle among the lotuses. Inside were Elixirs Mu Chen specially crafted to aid demon beasts’ bloodlines!
Obtaining the Blood Phoenix Lotus, Yue Zhao flew a distance, selecting a direction before retrieving the talisman given by Rong Ye to contact him, only to find it nonfunctional, leaving him isolated!
He frowned, anxious about Gu Geng Geng’s situation.
Despite considerable speculation before entering the Immortal Secret Realm, no one had anticipated encountering demon beasts far exceeding Xuantian Continent’s level. If Gu Geng Geng faced the Black Flood Dragon, she would certainly be in grave danger!
Thinking so, he hesitated no longer, confirming a direction via Divine Sense and flew forth immediately.
...
Upon awakening, Nan Hua found himself falling above a swamp, several massive green crocodiles below already noticing him, mouths agape, poised to catch him.
Stabilizing his figure, he extracted a talisman intending to contact Rong Ye, but despite infusing it with Spiritual Power, the talisman remained inactive. Clearly, despite precautious efforts, he’d lost contact with Rong Ye and the others!
