My Five Bigshot Seniors: I am The Most Coddled Junior!-Chapter 394 - 74: [Fifth Update]
Rong Ye and Mu Chen stayed at the place where Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu disappeared together with Feng Yang and Zhang Mu for a whole day and night. Neither Gu Qingqing nor Jun Wu appeared, which made Rong Ye and Mu Chen’s expressions very grim.
"It’s been a whole day and night already, and neither Geng Geng nor Jun Wu has shown up. Could something have happened to them?" Rong Ye looked at Mu Chen, his expression extremely worried, his eyes red, as if he would burst into tears if Mu Chen said yes.
"No way!" Mu Chen’s tone was very firm, though it was unclear if he was reassuring Rong Ye or himself. "They must have been thrown to some other place by the space rift. Geng Geng is so lucky, absolutely nothing will happen to her!"
Hearing his words, Rong Ye also remembered Gu Qingqing’s good fortune, and the trump cards she had, which instantly filled him with confidence that Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu were still alive.
"You’re right; Geng Geng is so lucky, nothing will happen to her!" He looked at Mu Chen, his long-furrowed brows finally relaxing with confidence in his voice, then he changed the topic, "So what should we do next? Should we keep waiting here for them?"
Mu Chen’s recently relaxed brows furrowed again as he glanced at the spot where Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu had disappeared, seeming a bit hesitant.
He hesitated for quite a while, then a look of determination flashed in his eyes as he turned to Rong Ye, "Let’s not wait anymore; we’ll go somewhere else."
If they continued waiting here, they didn’t know when they’d see Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu. Plus, they hadn’t found Nan Hua yet, and they had tasks to complete. Since they believed Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu were alright, they decided to seize the time and complete Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu’s missions as well. This way, they could give a satisfactory account when the time came.
Rong Ye hesitated too, but considering that Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu might not come out anytime soon, their waiting there was futile, so he nodded and left with Mu Chen, taking Zhang Mu and Feng Yang along.
...
Nan Hua and Ye Tingwen paired up, embarking on the journey to find herbs together. Ye Tingwen’s swordsmanship was quite good, and when paired with Nan Hua’s array skills, they cooperated reasonably well, completing tasks and finding quite a few herbs.
On the third day, just as it was about to end, he discovered the mark agreed upon by their group, and immediately got very excited.
"This is the mark I agreed upon with Geng Geng and the others; I’m not sure who left it. Following the mark, we should be able to find them." Nan Hua said to Ye Tingwen excitedly as he looked at the mark.
Ye Tingwen saw the mark too. Initially puzzled by Nan Hua’s excitement, after hearing the explanation, he was somewhat surprised and a bit envious.
Back in Purple Sunset City, he could see that Gu Qingqing and her group had very close relationships, and most importantly, their talents were exceptional. They were able to join the same sect and stay together. Ye Tingwen, too, wished to stay with Ye Tingyan and the others, but their aptitude was insufficient to enter the Langya Immortal Sect, and they had to part ways!
However, he could work hard, and once his cultivation advanced and he secured a place in the Langya Immortal Sect, he could bring Ye Wanwan and the others there, and they could reunite!
Thinking this, Ye Tingwen couldn’t help but let the corners of his lips curl slightly.
"Senior Brother Nan, it’s getting late today. Let’s rest for the night, and tomorrow morning, we can follow the marks to find Senior Brother Jun and the others." Seeing that Nan Hua couldn’t hold back his smile, Ye Tingwen suggested.
"Alright, let’s settle it that way." Nan Hua agreed, thinking Ye Tingwen made a good point. He nodded in agreement.
Although he was desperate to follow the marks right away to see one of Gu Qingqing’s group, he also knew how dangerous it was to roam the forest at night. He himself might not be too worried, but he couldn’t put Ye Tingwen at risk!
The two found a place nearby to rest for the night. With Nan Hua’s array, they were relatively safe. The next morning, they continued to follow the marks to find people.
They searched like this for a whole day, passing many places with marks, but before dark, they had not encountered Rong Ye and the others.
"Senior Brother Nan, this forest is quite large. While we’re searching for Junior Sister Gu and them, they are also moving. We might meet them by tomorrow." Seeing that Nan Hua wasn’t as cheerful as the day before, Ye Tingwen worried about him being upset for not having encountered Gu Qingqing and the others, and he tried to comfort him.
"I know," Nan Hua looked up at Ye Tingwen, "Are you thinking I’m upset? Actually, I’m not. I was mentally prepared from the start that we might not find them immediately. Don’t worry; I’m not that fragile."
Ye Tingwen did not hide his concern, and Nan Hua could easily understand what he was thinking. He smiled, patted Ye Tingwen on the shoulder, and said.
"That’s good." Ye Tingwen carefully observed and found that Nan Hua wasn’t forcing a smile, which reassured him, bringing out his own smile.
After resting for another night, as daylight arrived, they continued to follow the marks to find people.
...
Rong Ye and Mu Chen left with Feng Yang, unsure where to go at first. Based on the growth environment for herbs listed in the sect’s task, they decided to search for the Red Xuan Rice Fruit. Due to the lack of news from Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu, the four were not in high spirits, and the journey was silent, with each lost in their own thoughts.
After traveling a distance, they arrived at a riverbank. Across the river, a cliff could be seen, and growing on the cliff face was a large tree.
The tree wasn’t too tall, approximately three meters high, sprawling horizontally on the cliff face. Its leaves were bright red, and amidst the fiery leaves hung numerous white fruits, each about the size of a baby’s fist.
"Brother Rong, look, isn’t that the Red Xuan Rice Fruit?" Feng Yang, originally washing his hands by the river, looked up and saw the large tree on the cliff. Upon recognizing the fruits, he quickly called out in excitement to Mu Chen and Rong Ye.
Mu Chen and Rong Ye hadn’t approached the river yet and were standing on open ground some distance from the riverbank. The cliff was a ways off, and they hadn’t noticed the large tree on the cliff face. Hearing Feng Yang’s voice, they quickly walked to the riverbank and looked across the river.
Upon seeing the large tree on the cliff, the two were pleasantly surprised.
"It’s like looking everywhere only to find it unexpectedly! We’ve been searching for so long, who would’ve thought it’d suddenly appear before us." Rong Ye said, gazing at the white fruits on the cliff, with a sense of wonder.
He had previously searched many places with Gu Qingqing but hadn’t found any Red Xuan Rice Fruits. Unexpectedly, while resting here, they stumbled upon them!
"Indeed, it seems fate is kind to us." Mu Chen nodded, agreeing with Rong Ye’s observation.
Zhang Mu and Feng Yang were equally delighted. They initially thought it would take several more days of searching to find the Red Xuan Rice Fruit, yet here it was!
The four discussed and decided to rest for a while before crossing the river to find a way to pick the Red Xuan Rice Fruits.
After resting for about two quarters of an hour, they stood up, activated their immortal power, tapped their toes lightly several times on the river surface, and sequentially crossed the large river before them.
Arriving at the base of the cliff, they found that the cliff was quite high, with the Red Xuan Rice Fruits about thirty meters above ground, making it uncomfortable to look up at.
"This is a bit high; Rong Ye and I will go up, Zhang Mu and Feng Yang, you two wait below." Mu Chen assessed the position of the Red Xuan Rice Fruits and spoke to Zhang Mu and Feng Yang.
"Alright, Brother Mu, be careful." After several days together, Feng Yang had gained some understanding of Mu Chen and Rong Ye’s personalities, knowing they didn’t like verbosity, so he agreed straightforwardly, urging them to be cautious.
Zhang Mu also watched them with concern, his expression mirroring Feng Yang’s.
Mu Chen nodded, exchanged a glance with Rong Ye, and then looked at the cliff. They tapped their toes, ascended into the air, and as they neared the limit of their strength, lightly tapped their toes on the cliff face, approaching the Red Xuan Rice Fruits.
Soon, they reached the vicinity of the Red Xuan Rice Fruit tree, and looking at the white fruits above, Rong Ye and Mu Chen each grabbed a branch with one hand while using the other to pick the fruits, storing them in their own spatial storage.
After picking about a dozen fruits, they faintly heard Feng Yang and Zhang Mu shouting.
"Brother Mu, Brother Rong, watch out!" Feng Yang shouted nervously at a spot in mid-air, alerting Rong Ye and Mu Chen loudly.
Upon hearing their voices, Mu Chen and Rong Ye furrowed their brows, unable to clearly understand what was being said. As they pondered, instincts from battle alerted them to danger, and they quickly looked behind, spotting four or five large golden eagles flying towards them.
"It’s the Golden Winged Condor!" Rong Ye exclaimed, his expression changing to surprise.
The Golden Winged Condor is a low-level True Immortal Realm spirit beast, renowned for the golden color of its wings. Its beak and claws are incredibly sharp, capable of piercing through stone. Additionally, its feathers are formidable; when it flaps its wings, it can launch feather attacks, which easily injure unwary individuals or spirit beasts.
Mu Chen scanned around and predictably saw a cave above on the side, likely where the Golden Winged Condors nested.
Because it was far from ground level, they hadn’t noticed it while below.
The Golden Winged Condors evidently considered the Red Xuan Rice Fruits their food supply. Realizing someone was stealing their food, the Golden Winged Condors were furious, screeched loudly, and with wings spread wide, directly charged at Rong Ye and Mu Chen.
Rong Ye and Mu Chen already faced difficulty picking the Red Xuan Rice Fruits, needing to grip the tree branches to stabilize their positions. This restricted their movements, limiting their ability to fight back. If the Golden Winged Condors charged them, they could only endure the attacks passively!
