Chapter 732

At exactly seven in the evening, Leldorin went in front of everyone and started his prepared introduction for the first movie of the Lord of the Rings franchise, The Fellowship of the Ring. Unfortunately, Leldorin seemed to have been drunk with the feeling of being important to handle such a simple thing as introducing the movie, so he became long-winded.

The forest elves started to complain after five minutes of Leldorin's seemingly nonstop speech, and the queen stopped Leldorin and told him to start the film. Anton almost laughed out loud, then started the movie with Leldorin’s signal. The elf, instead of getting embarrassed, seemed much prouder for some unknown reason.

Then the movie started. Lady Galadriel’s voice filled the space, and her low, elegant voice, which always caused Anton to shiver in excitement, as it was the start of a grand, new adventure, was now being heard by the forest elves. Thankfully, there was no need for 3d glasses, so Anton could see the forest elves' faces while they watched the film. Anton thought that it was comparable to him watching first-time viewers of the film on that famous video streaming website.

Anton smiled when he saw the forest elves smile proudly when the elves in the film were introduced as the most beautiful and wisest of beings on Middle-earth. When the music of the film floated all over the place, Anton felt that it was the best movie music of all time. It never fails to transport him to the world of Middle-earth. That was why The Lord of the Rings films were his favorite movie franchise. He even considered its background music the best of them all.

The forest elves gasped when they saw the fireworks that Gandalf had prepared for Bilbo’s birthday party. They all laughed at the silly shenanigans of Merry and Pippin. Their faces grew dark at the ominous scenes. Their faces were filled with dread when the hobbits were being chased by the Nazgul.

Anton split his attention between the film and watching the forest elves' reactions to the movie. He also started recording everyone’s expressions, but this time, he made sure that the reaction video would not be uploaded to the streaming website. He planned to show the reaction videos to his family.

When Arwen was first shown, even the forest elves, whom Anton thought were as beautiful as the movie elves, gasped at her beauty, which Anton found a little odd. Was it because of the glow special effect, or did the elves consider the actress who played Arwen as truly beautiful?

At the very least, Anton did not have to worry about the forest elves getting confused about the large differences that one could see between them and the Tolkien elves. Leldorin reiterated several times during the introduction that the movie was a work of fiction and that the races in the film were born from the imagination of the author.

During the scene when Arwen was being chased by the Nazgul while carrying Frodo, Anton could see different expressions on the faces of the forest elves. Some were angry, some looked worried, some looked afraid, but all of their attention was focused on the film.

When Arwen used the elven land magic against the Nazgul in the river scene, the forest elves cheered. Anton was also a little surprised that the elves seemed to understand immediately when Arwen prayed, “What grace is given me, let it pass to him.”

Anton knew that the forest elves did not truly understand what it meant, but for some reason, they knew that it was a huge sacrifice on Arwen’s part. When Anton first saw the film, he did not understand it, and only did after researching the internet what it actually meant for Arwen.

The forest elves were full of outrage when Gandalf was betrayed by Saruman, and Anton could see that some of them raised their hands as if wanting to challenge the white wizard.

During the scene where Rivendell was shown, everyone gasped at the beautiful depiction of the elven kingdom. Anton finally realized that he should not have doubted his favorite films, even though he thought the forest elves also had a beautiful kingdom.

When the epic scene of the formation of the Fellowship of the Ring during the council meeting, Anton shivered again, even though he had seen the scene several times. He felt a combination of pride, excitement, and other unnamed emotion and Anton could see that the forest elves were the same.

During the supposed death of Gandalf in the Balrog scene, Anton cried even though he knew that the gray wizard did not die. It was because most of the forest elves cried as well. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

The movie then came to the part where the fellowship reached Lothlorien and met Galadriel. The forest elves were stunned at the beautiful depiction of the forest where the elves lived, and how it resembled their own.

During the scene when Galadriel had shown what would have happened if she accepted the ring, Anton could see that the forest elves were both full of pride at the power the movie elves could wield and fearful of the power of the ring.

Anton knew that just like him, when he first saw the movie, he had underestimated the one ring since the only visible power it had shown was turn Bilbo and Frodo invisible when they wore it, aside from the great strength that Sauron had shown during the prologue. When they saw that the ring could turn Galadriel into a powerful dark queen, they started to realize that the one ring was a truly powerful artifact, and just like him, they remembered when Gandalf said that he could not accept the ring since, through him, it would wield a power so mighty but terrible.

Soon, the forest elves realized that the one ring was not about its power, but its insidious ability to turn the wearer into something dark.

During Boromir’s death scene, a lot of the elves cried, and Anton did as well again even though he had seen the scene many times.

When the film ended on the scene where Frodo and Sam separated from the group and Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli decided to rescue Merry and Pippin, all the forest elves were silent, then after a few seconds clapped vigorously.

Some of them started saying they now understood why the film was Anton’s favorite and that they could not wait to watch the next part the next night.

After several minutes of the forest elves discussing the movie, they asked Anton if there were behind the scene footage. Anton told everyone that he advised them not to watch it since it his opinion, it would lessen the feeling of magic of the movie. The forest elves seemed to understand what he meant and did not insist. They just continued talking to each other about the movie and speculated on what would happen next.

Enoril and the other young elves that was with Anton earlier that day gathered together and approached Anton. They, too, started discussing the film, but Anton avoided sharing information to avoid inadvertently providing spoilers for the next movie in the franchise. One thing that the elves kept reiterating was that they could not believe that the movie was based on the imagination of a single human.

Anton shared his theory that maybe the authors of books or movies had some sort of insight into other worlds like theirs, which was why they were able to construct such a robust world inside their heads.
