Chapter 683

Anton did not care which Diablo game his system would give him. The fact of the matter was, any game would be alright with him because it was something new and something that could increase his power. How much, he did not know, since he truly knew nothing about the game. The only thing he could remember was that a lot of Diablo fans were disappointed when Diablo Immortal was announced instead of Diablo IV. It had even become a meme, one of the developers said, “Don’t you have phones?” as a reply to the fanbase's disappointments.

He excitedly checked the most famous video streaming site regarding Diablo Immortal gameplay. Anton kept in his mind that he would be entering the world of Diablo Immortal personally, and not play the screen option. That was why he was extremely excited. His experience would be different from normal gamers. He then remembered that it was a multiplayer game and wondered how it would work.

Based on the few videos that he had seen, the gameplay looked fun. Again, any game looked fun to him because he was not some kind of jaded gamer who had access to multitudes of games when he was growing up, and the fact that Diablo Immortal was still part of the world of his favorite game doubled his excitement.

After watching a few gameplay videos of the available characters, he then checked the reviews. According to most reviews, it was a pay-to-win game. He wondered how it would work in tandem with his system. Could he use the coins that he accumulated playing Diablo II as the currency to purchase items from the Diablo Immortal cash shop? Because that was what he was using to purchase digital things from the internet, like movies and subscriptions. If that was the case, if it was truly a pay-to-win game, that meant that his character, which translated to his own power, would be extremely powerful even at the start.

Anton checked the announcement again to see if there was any more information, but unfortunately, there was none. That meant that he would have to wait until the game was released inside his Diablo system.

One major issue that Anton would need to consider was time. During the ladder season, he would need to level all seven characters from Diablo II to maximize the benefit that he could get from the ladder season. Each character that reached ninety-nine would allow him to transfer a legendary item from inside the game to the real world, as well as transfer twenty percent of the primary stats of the character that he leveled up to the maximum level. It would take most of his time, and that meant that he would need to focus on the ladder season of his Diablo II game instead of Diablo Immortal.

Ultimately, Anton realized that it did not matter. Every move that he would make come ladder season would increase his power, and that was the main goal. Since the ladder season had a limited time, he would focus on Diablo II, and once the Diablo II ladder season was over, he could then switch to playing Diablo Immortal.

After thinking about the major update that was coming, Anton was truly excited and could not wait for the ladder season to arrive. He decided to check the different gameplay of the characters available in Diablo Immortal. Based on his preference, he would probably choose to play the Sorcerer first. He was tiresome that way. He preferred caster characters instead of melee or archer types. The other characters looked fun, though, and just like the Diablo II game inside his system, he would try all the other characters.

He knew that the addition of Diablo Immortal would truly increase his power, simply because of the fact that he would have a third set of armors, weapons, and items that would stack with the current two sets of items that he was wearing. One inside the Diablo II world that was being reflected in the real world, and one that he was currently wearing in the real world, which came from transferring items from the game to the real world.

Anton had been waiting for a major update for a long time for his Diablo System, since it truly needed one, and his system did not disappoint. Just like what the Isekai authors had said repeatedly, systems were truly overpowered.

He spent several hours watching Diablo Immortal gameplay, reading about the skills that the character could use, their upgrades, and options, and the different items that would empower specific characters. Since Anton had decided that he would play the Sorcerer character first, he focused on learning about the character.

Anton knew that he should be choosing another character instead of the Sorcerer because it was still similar to what he could already cast, but then again, he did not care. He wanted to enjoy the game first and could only do so playing his favorite character.

Even at that moment, Anton still considered the Sorcerer his main character, even though some netizens said that the Sorcerer character was not the most powerful one in the Diablo Universe, but that was a lengthy debate that he was never willing to get involved in.

He knew that it was a little problem for Anton to focus on the Sorcerer. He was underutilizing the other characters’ skills and would only use them if he remembered them. He then just shrugged and continued to check different Diablo Immortal gameplays. Anton wondered if he would have the strength to hold off on playing Diablo Immortal to focus on the Diablo II ladder season.

Anton then asked himself why he should focus solely on one game when he could play both? He could spend the majority of his waking hours on ladder Diablo II and a couple of hours playing Diablo Immortal. Thankfully, he did not have responsibilities and could live his life as an otaku for the coming months. At least, no one would fault him for spending his time alone in his room because he had the excuse of increasing his power through his unique brand of meditation.

When dinner time arrived, Anton joined the family and was glad that everyone was there except his father, who was still delving the high-level dungeon with his team. During dinner, everyone was talking. They adopted Anton’s behavior of talking to everyone while eating, so eating time was never silent in the manor.

In three months, December would arrive, and Anna would be able to return home. That meant that the family would be complete. It was also Anton’s birthday month, and he would be nineteen then.

Anton decided that it would be a month-long celebration, and he would be extremely extravagant. He did not want to waste the manor’s coins, so he decided to run 30th floor of the Corridors of Amuneta dungeon to gather birthday funds. He thought of the fact that he was truly immature for thinking about spending a lot of coins when his birthday came, but he did not care. Finally, he felt a little happy again. Grieving for his lost friends took him a while, and he could now think of them without feeling extreme sadness, so he felt that in three months, the family would be ready for a celebration.
