My Ex-Wife Disappeared for Years and Had My Babies-Chapter 208 - 155: If Pregnant, Keep the Baby
Chapter 208: Chapter 155: If Pregnant, Keep the Baby
After Su Zhen was discharged from the hospital, Su Nian did everything to accommodate her wishes. When she wanted to stay at Uncle Shen’s house, Su Nian also moved over with the little patient.
On one hand, it cheered up Su Zhen; on the other, to hasten Su Zhen’s recovery, Shen Hanxiu hired a rehabilitation specialist and a nutritionist, hoping that Su Zhen could be freed from pain sooner.
However, no matter how splendid the excuses, Su Nian couldn’t deceive herself. She clearly felt that she really liked the harmony of the whole family living under the same roof.
She didn’t know whether this sense of security could last, but she chose to enjoy it for the moment.
Su Zhen took a leave of absence, while Su Bao still hadn’t missed any school. When he came home, he would teach Su Zhen what he learned at school.
In the evening, Su Nian was counting goldfish by the pond with Su Zhen in her arms when Aunt Bao approached and said, "Madam, the old madam is here."
"The old madam?" Why is she here?
Oh! She forgot that this was her son’s home; it’s only natural for her to come and visit.
Just as Su Nian stood up with Su Zhen in her arms, they were greeted by Deng Tonglian coming over, looking displeased and glaring at Su Nian and her daughter, "What are you doing here?"
Before Su Nian could say anything, Su Zhen spoke up, "This is my Uncle Shen’s house!"
Deng Tonglian glared at Su Zhen and then turned to Su Nian, "You jinx, stop clinging to my son! If it weren’t for Yalan telling me, I wouldn’t have known he almost died in a car accident. I’ve only been abroad for a few days, and you nearly killed my son. You’re doing this on purpose to torment my son, aren’t you?"
Su Nian just smiled silently, finding Deng Tonglian’s accusations ridiculously amusing.
Seeing Su Nian’s disdainful smile, Deng Tonglian became even angrier, "I’ve already found an excellent woman for Ah Shu, and once he falls for her, your little tricks will be useless. I advise you to get lost while you still can!"
Sitting in Su Nian’s arms, Su Zhen said, "Uncle Shen said he only likes my mom!"
Deng Tonglian glared at Su Zhen and was about to scold her when Shen Hanxiu’s voice came from behind, "Why have you come?"
"Uncle Shen! That old hag is bullying my mom!" Before Deng Tonglian could speak, Su Zhen eagerly tattled.
Shen Hanxiu reached out to take Su Zhen from Su Nian’s arms. Following behind Shen Hanxiu, Su Bao went up and held Su Nian by the hand, afraid of her being bullied.
"Son, I heard you had a car accident? Why didn’t you call and tell me? How are you feeling? Better?" fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
Shen Hanxiu responded perfunctorily, "I’m fine." Then he directly bypassed her, drawing Su Nian into his arms, "Dinner’s ready, let’s go and eat."
Deng Tonglian, startled, followed them.
Just as they started eating, Deng Tonglian asked, "Son, are you living together now?"
Shen Hanxiu glanced at Su Nian first, not sure what Deng Tonglian was getting at with her questions.
"Hmm."
"When are you planning to remarry?"
Su Nian’s hand paused while picking up the food, and heard Shen Hanxiu say, "No rush."
Deng Tonglian slammed her chopsticks down, glaring at Su Nian, "Not in a hurry? My friend’s son is a year younger than you, and yet his eldest son is ten, his youngest daughter eight. How much longer do you want to wait?!"
Shen Hanxiu served a piece of meat to Su Zhen, his gaze never lingering on Deng Tonglian, "Isn’t there already two kids here?"
"Already? They’re not even your own!"
"Mom," Su Bao, who had been eating quietly, suddenly put down his chopsticks.
Su Nian, who had been keeping a low profile, finally spoke up, "Hmm?"
Su Bao looked around at everyone seated and said, "Since my sister’s foot is nearly healed, let’s go back home."
"I don’t want to go back! My foot is still so painful, Mom!"
"We’re not going back, you and mom will live here from now on. Hurry up and eat," Shen Hanxiu said without giving Su Nian a chance to reply.
If this woman were to decide, she would surely take the children and leave.
And indeed, this was what Su Nian was thinking. Although the time spent together recently had indeed made her feel the happiness of a complete family, she had not lost her rationality. The necessary guardrails couldn’t be let down.
Deng Tonglian’s blame wasn’t completely unreasonable, after all, Shen Hanxiu needed his own life. Since they were destined to have no future together, then his future belonged to another woman – what was she doing occupying the place beside him?
After dinner, Deng Tonglian pulled Shen Hanxiu aside to talk for a few minutes. The conversation did not seem pleasant and when Deng Tonglian left, she cast a venomous glare at Su Nian before departing.
In the night, after the two children fell asleep, Shen Hanxiu knocked on Su Nian’s door.
"Is there something wrong?"
Shen Hanxiu didn’t answer immediately but instead walked into the room and sat on her bed, looking around before speaking, "Let’s remarry this weekend."
Suddenly speaking out of the blue, and with such abrupt words, Su Nian was startled.
Su Nian averted her gaze and said softly, "I’ll leave when Zhenzhen gets better."
So she had been planning to leave all along.
He thought that her beginning to worry about him was a turning point in their relationship.
"Su Nian, what are you hesitating for?"
Su Nian turned her back to him without answering.
What was she hesitating about? She didn’t know herself; she felt like someone lost in the fog, unable to see the path ahead.
"You haven’t let go of me in your heart," he stated calmly, as if presenting a mere fact. If she truly meant what she said, truly hoped to have no ties with him, then she wouldn’t have cried when he got hurt. She wouldn’t have cared about whether he lived or died, and she certainly would not have called his name in her moments of greatest vulnerability and confusion.
She still had feelings for him in her heart. Putting aside the bond they had when they were children, she loved him deeply after they got married.
And he knew that she wasn’t a fickle woman.
Not getting a response from her, Shen Hanxiu stood up, walked behind her, and wrapped his arms around her gently. He rested his chin on top of her head, "Don’t hide anything from me, let’s not miss out on too much."
Su Nian coldly turned her head away, prying his hands off: "It’s over between us. Don’t guess others’ thoughts with your own mindset."
"Is it over?" He chuckled lightly, "Then let it be. I won’t marry again, and you shouldn’t think about marrying anyone else either. If need be, we can be a couple without a marriage certificate; after all, I don’t care about that piece of paper."
Su Nian was at a loss for words. She had been so cold, so repeatedly rejecting him that it must have been somewhat humiliating for him, but not only was he not angry, he had also generously made such a proposal...
Su Nian was emotionally restless when, all of a sudden, Shen Hanxiu bent down. He wrapped his hands around her waist and pressed his ear to her belly, saying, "There might already be my son here."
Su Nian was startled and quickly pushed his head away.
She had forgotten to take the morning-after pill last time!
It had been almost a month since her last period too—could she actually be pregnant?! What should she do if she really was?!
Shen Hanxiu raised an eyebrow with a smile: "Really pregnant?"
"If I am, then I’ll give birth to it, no matter how many. I can afford to raise them."
Su Nian pushed him away: "Even if I am, I won’t give birth to it!"
Shen Hanxiu, hearing this, simply laughed: "Sharp tongue but a soft heart! You’d go through fire and water for someone else’s child, do you have the heart to abandon your own flesh and blood in your belly?"
Su Nian’s thoughts were all over the place. If she was really pregnant with Shen Hanxiu’s child, what should she do? She had been careless!
Shen Hanxiu bent down, picked up Su Nian, and gently placed her onto the bed behind him: "Go to sleep early with my son."
Having said that, he turned off the bedside light and closed the bedroom door.
Su Nian watched the door close, then stretched her hand to touch her belly. It felt normal as always. Could there really be a child inside?
What to do if there really was one? Giving birth would bring troubles, Shen Hanxiu would definitely not leave her alone, but the thought of abandoning this little life was unbearable to her.
She definitely had to go to the hospital tomorrow for a checkup, and then decide after confirming the results.
However, the night gave her the answer.
Su Nian squatted in the toilet for half an hour before coming out, her feet numb and devoid of sensation.
"What’s wrong?"
The sudden voice from behind startled Su Nian, and turning around, she saw Shen Hanxiu standing not far away, wearing only his pajama bottoms.
Ignoring the pain in her belly, her first words to him were: "I’m not pregnant!"
Shen Hanxiu didn’t look disappointed; he knew that she was in pain because of her menstrual period as he had heard her tossing and turning for a long time in the study.
He gestured with his chin towards the bedside: "There’s a hot water bottle in the drawer, and tomorrow ask Aunt Bao to pick up the same medicine you had before. You were well adjusted before, seems like without me by your side, you still can’t take care of yourself."
His tone was even, as if they were a long-married couple chatting about daily life, but Su Nian found herself lost in memories.
When they were together, maybe she was not just a wife to him, but also a daughter. He indulged all her capriciousness, took care of every little detail for her—she had been protected without a single gap...
With his care that night, it became less difficult to bear.
Su Zhen’s leg was slowly recovering. With the help of a small cane, she could walk on her own.
Liang Yizhou returned from abroad, and his first thought was to see Su Zhen. After speaking with Su Nian, he drove straight to Shen Hanxiu’s home.
"Uncle Liang!" It had been a long time since they saw each other, but Su Zhen was still very affectionate towards him, especially when she saw that Liang Yizhou had brought lots of tasty treats and pretty clothes.
Liang Yizhou bent down to pick up Su Zhen, asking gently, "Does your leg still hurt?"
"It stopped..." Before she could finish saying "hurting," Su Zhen glanced at Su Nian and quickly changed her tone: "It still hurts! I can’t even walk!"
Su Nian was well aware that this girl had actually healed a long time ago. On one hand, she wanted to use the excuse of her leg hurting to stay on Shen Hanxiu’s side and receive rehabilitation training, and on the other hand, she didn’t want to go to school.
Su Bao muttered: "When it’s time to cause trouble, your leg doesn’t hurt anymore."
"Hmph! That’s because you won’t teach me how to read!"
Liang Yizhou smiled, dismissed Su Zhen with some snacks, and then asked Su Nian: "So... have you two confirmed that you’ll remarry?"
Su Nian immediately shook her head: "No, Su Zhen’s been making a fuss about staying here, and I was planning to take her back today. Later, please help me out and persuade her to go back first."
Liang Yizhou nodded, feeling a silent sigh of relief when he heard Su Nian had no plans to remarry.
Around 5 o’clock, a black Maybach gradually pulled in. Seeing the unfamiliar vehicle parked at his doorstep, Shen Hanxiu’s brows furrowed. His focus shifted to the license plate at the rear of the car, and with an understanding, his expression grew more severe.
He parked the car but didn’t rush into the house. His fingers, well-defined, tapped on the steering wheel, and then he reached out to grab the cellphone laying at the front...
