My Ex-Wife Disappeared for Years and Had My Babies-Chapter 189 - 139 Don’t Forget You Still Owe Me Compensation
Chapter 189: Chapter 139 Don’t Forget You Still Owe Me Compensation
Su Nian’s rented house was small, Carey could only squeeze into one room with Su Zhen and Su Bao.
Fortunately, Shen Hanxiu came to help. With him as manpower, a child’s bed was quickly set up.
"I’m saying you brought this on yourself." Taking care of two kids was already hectic enough, she didn’t want to tire him out, but she still felt for him!
Su Nian was used to his carefree attitude and she politely showed him out: "Thanks, Third Young Master, everything’s fine now. You can get on with your things."
"Work like an ox, then kick me out once it’s done? Cook me a meal then."
In the kitchen, she tied on an apron and busily prepared the meal, while he leaned by the door quietly watching her, and the few kids sat on the couch watching TV.
This was what you’d call a home...
After eating, Shen Hanxiu pulled Su Nian out the door, insistent on making her see him off.
While waiting for the elevator, Shen Hanxiu asked, "Did Tang Shao seek you out after your friend’s divorce?"
Su Nian shook her head, then said, "That’s none of your concern anymore."
He turned to look at her, hands in his pockets, a wicked smile on his face as he leaned close to her, "Don’t forget you still owe me compensation."
Su Nian clearly knew he was referring to the unfinished business on the boat that day, she coughed lightly, "Third Young Master, the elevator is here, have a good one."
Shen Hanxiu stood up straight and walked leisurely into the elevator, saying before the doors closed, "If Tang Shao looks for you, call me directly and don’t meet him."
"Okay," Su Nian replied nonchalantly.
"Okay what? Remember it!"
"Yeah, got it, Third Young Master, take care."
It was only after his words that Su Nian realized, Tang Shaosheng had vanished off the face of the earth after his divorce with Ziyan, with no news for a long time. She wondered if he had sought out Ziyan.
The next afternoon, after work, Su Nian went straight to Ziyan’s florist, where she was busy arranging flowers in a compartment.
"Still working?"
Upon seeing Su Nian, Ziyan immediately put down her scissors and asked with a smile, "Off work, huh?"
"Yeah, just came to check on you, to see if Tang Shao has been bothering you."
Mentioning Tang Shao made Ziyan hesitate, but it didn’t affect her smile, "Haven’t seen him since the last banquet."
Even on the day of the divorce, only his assistant showed up. She had really wanted to ask him if his injuries had healed, but he didn’t come.
Upon reflection, they were already divorced; it was best not to meddle anymore.
Hearing that Tang Shao hadn’t shown up, Su Nian was relieved, "That’s good then. Ziyan, don’t be soft-hearted with him. He doesn’t deserve it for the person he is, all self-inflicted. If he troubles you again, just let me know."
Ziyan nodded, "But he probably won’t, I don’t think he’ll come looking for me again."
"Good, it’s best that way. Come over to my place for dinner later, you’re alone and probably can’t be bothered cooking. Just have something simple."
Ziyan didn’t refuse, "Okay, I’ll also get to see the two little treasures."
As Su Nian turned to leave, she suddenly spotted a familiar man entering, "Eh? Uncle Cheng, what brings you here?"
Surprised by the encounter, Su Yuecheng’s expression froze for a second, as if scared she might see through him, and quickly made up an excuse, "A friend’s sick, asked me to get some flowers."
Su Nian was unsuspecting, "Since you’re free, come over for dinner with Ziyan later."
Su Yuecheng glanced at Ziyan walking towards them, knowing she was going to Su Nian’s for dinner, he naturally wouldn’t refuse, "Okay, thanks, Xiao Nian."
Su Nian needed to pick up the kids and buy groceries, so she left first.
Ziyan greeted Su Yuecheng warmly, "What kind of flowers do you need today?"
Ever since he learned she ran a flower shop here, Su Yuecheng had come by a few times.
"The same as before, carnations."
Ziyan bowed her head, carefully wrapping the flowers for him. His gaze stayed fixed on her.
He was always hesitating whether to tell her about that night. Would she hate him if she knew?
After he paid and everything was sorted, Su Yuecheng said, "Aren’t we going to Nian’nian’s for dinner? Let’s head there together."
He was Su Nian’s uncle, Ziyan didn’t think much of it; it was on the way, plus he was a regular customer who had helped her a few times before, so she agreed, "Sure, I’ll tidy up; could you please wait?"
Su Yuecheng came here every now and then, buying flowers was just a pretext, just an excuse to see her.
He wanted to make up to her as much as he could, and perhaps it was more than just a desire for atonement...
When Ziyan was ready, Su Yuecheng held the car door open for her to get in.
"Aren’t you going to deliver the flowers first?"
"It’s okay, we can go after we eat, buckle up," he instructed and then walked around to the other side.
The car drove off, with no one paying attention to another vehicle that had abruptly stopped by the road.
"President Tang... we can’t park here for too long..." the driver reminded him with trepidation.
Tang Shaosheng’s eyes were still on the flower shop entrance. He had wanted to just catch a glimpse of the woman, even if from across the street through the window, but he never expected to see what he just did!
Was this the reason she was so desperate to divorce? Was she cheating on him even before their divorce?!
"President Tang... we’re almost out of time..."
"Am I holding the steering wheel?!" Tang Shaosheng snapped as he turned his head back to glare and bellow angrily.
The driver was sweating bullets, pressing the gas pedal gingerly.
Back home, Ziyan was helping Su Nian in the kitchen while the three kids sat in a row at the wall desk doing their homework. Both boys were writing swiftly, only Su Zhen was biting her pen, occasionally glancing at the little uncle sitting inside.
She seemed to want to speak but didn’t dare to; her gaze then darted to Su Bao’s notebook before she buried her head in her own and scribbled a few lines.
Wednesday was the two kids’ birthday. It was a rare occasion to be back here, so Su Nian naturally invited everyone she could.
So, the birthday dinner was held at Ziyuan on Wednesday evening.
The kids’ birthday party wouldn’t be complete without Shen Hanxiu. Even if Su Nian didn’t invite him, Su Zhen had already called him several times.
The atmosphere at the dinner table was good, even Jing Zan had come.
Watching him and Wei Lan sticking close together, Su Nian thought that Wei Lan must have achieved what she wanted.
Seeing her sitting next to Jing Zan, looking as cheerful as usual, Su Nian smiled with relief.
Yang Zichen, on the other hand, was different, barely speaking throughout.
With the two birthday stars present, those subtle adult vibes were of no importance.
The red envelopes were joyfully received, and Su Zhen’s eyes narrowed into crescent moons as she smiled.
Shen Hanxiu, aspiring to be a stepdad, naturally couldn’t appear stingy, so he too gave out two red envelopes: "You can use the money inside however you like. Your mom knows the PIN; just have her take out the money when needed."
Hearing Shen Hanxiu’s words, everyone went "wow."
It’s different with a real dad.
The envelopes were flimsy; they definitely didn’t contain cash.
Judging by his tone, there must be quite a lot of money inside. Su Nian thought to herself that she would return it to him after everyone left, as to not spoil the kids’ or his mood by declining it now.
Su Bao, who usually never gave him a good look, now quickly reached out to take the envelope before turning to say something to Haohao.
Su Zhen took the envelope, felt something solid inside, and pulled it out to see. While the adults knew it was a bank card, Su Zhen pouted at Shen Hanxiu, "Uncle Shen, you tricked me! I can’t buy lollipops with this!"
Wei Lan then said, "Zhenzhen, you can buy a lot of lollipops with this."
Zhenzhen pouted, tossing the card behind her onto the floor, her eyes welling up with tears: "Liar! That’s not even money!"
Shen Hanxiu hadn’t expected such a reaction, quickly patting his pocket and pulling out several red notes from his wallet to give to Su Zhen: "That won’t do, take these instead."
Su Zhen, standing on the stool, immediately took the red notes from Shen Hanxiu with a beaming smile, amusing everyone at the table.
Su Nian, also tickled by her silly daughter, bent over to pick up the card from the floor, handing it under the table to Shen Hanxiu with a whisper, "I’m giving this back to you. Don’t do this in the future, kids are just looking for some fun."
Shen Hanxiu gave it a glance: "I never take back what I give away. If she doesn’t want it, you keep it."
Su Nian fell silent for a moment, and considering there were too many people around to argue, she placed the card on the table, planning to slip it to him after the gathering.
"Gege, let’s have one too. Look how cute they are?" Jin Qiu turned to Tang Ge and said.
But Tang Ge seemed somewhat distracted, pausing before responding, "It’s too early."
Jin Qiu pouted, muttering, "Too early, too early! By the time you’re ready, we’ll be old!"
Wei Lan also turned to glance at Jing Zan before the two shared a smile.
The kids had school the next day, so they didn’t linger.
Those with boyfriends or husbands went home in pairs, with Ziyan being taken care of by Su Yuecheng.
Shen Hanxiu had wanted to leave with Su Nian, but there wasn’t room for everyone in the car.
Su Nian suggested, "Just take Haohao home, I’ll send you the GPS route later."
Shen Hanxiu was about to refuse when Su Bao beat him to it: "Mom, can I stay over at Haohao’s house tonight?"
"Huh? What for at Haohao’s house?"
Su Bao simply said, "Don’t ask."
Su Nian pinched his nose, "Feeling all grown up after turning a year older?"
Considering Haohao would be alone at home, it’d be nice having the sensible Su Bao for company, so she agreed.
Shen Hanxiu, keen to bond with Su Bao, naturally agreed to take them.
Without knowing what shenanigans the two four-year-olds might get into, Su Nian didn’t fuss. When leaving, she returned the card to Shen Hanxiu, who didn’t even glance at it, simply rolling up the car window and instructing Yang Zi Chen to drive off.
Taking Su Zhen and Carey home, Su Zhen finished her piece of cake before asking, "Mom, where’s Su Bao?"
"Su Bao has gone to Haohao’s house. Come, let’s get you bathed quickly. The little uncle needs a bath after you!"
Su Zhen turned back to look at Carey, her small face blooming, big eyes dark and bright. Carey glimpsed at her and quickly averted his gaze, his ears reddening.
Then Su Zhen, with a dull look in her eyes, thought that the little uncle didn’t like her since he wouldn’t even glance her way.
