My Evil Boy Toy-Chapter 270: Don’t Look For Me
Chapter 270: Don’t Look For Me
My heart pounded when the man didn’t answer. I felt uncomfortable and awkward when he just stared at me.
I took a deep breath to muster the courage to speak again. Although I pitied the man when he told us about his family, I had doubts ever since we walked inside the house.
"Talk now. I know you’re not telling the truth."
The man didn’t blink and was just looking at me. Then I was startled when Jayden suddenly stood by my side.
"Did you call them?" He asked.
I frowned. I couldn’t understand what Jayden was asking. I was more confused when the man nodded.
"Love, who did he call? What’s happening?" I asked, looking at Jayden.
Jayden turned to me and smiled.
"I need you to stay here and don’t go outside." He said.
I frowned again. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"Peg, please promise me." He pleaded.
I got anxious and my heart couldn’t stop pounding.
"No! Tell me what fuck is going on?" I exclaimed.
Jayden sighed. "You called Benjamin and told him I’m here, right?"
My eyes widened when Jayden asked the man. Was he one of Benjamin’s men? I thought to myself.
"You fucking asshole! How dare you!" I yelled.
The man shook his head. "N-No! I had no choice."
"What do you mean you had no choice? People always have a choice!"
The man looked desperate and awful. "What do you want me to do? Forget my family? Let them die?"
"So you’d rather give someone’s life so you could save your own? You’re pathetic!" Then I turned to Jayden.
"Do you know this man? I want the truth, love. All the things he told us, it didn’t seem to bother you. Did you know everything about Benjamin and the Trekker Clan?"
Jayden sighed. "Yes. You’re not the only one busy searching for your foster father. I made some investigations on my own."
"Why didn’t you tell me?" I asked.
"I didn’t want you to worry."
I sighed. "How about him? What did you mean when you ask him if he called Benjamin? What’s going on?"
"I knew he was one of them. But not completely." He started.
The man wasn’t talking and not moving from the couch. And I felt relieved that he wasn’t.
"What he said about the Trekker Clan, your foster father and his family were all true. The photos were of his family and they were being held hostage by Jonathan Trekker. The deal was to lure me into this place and call them once I’m here." Jayden continued.
I was confused and my head started to throb.
"I’m sorry, but h-how did you know that he’s one of them? And what would Jonathan want to do with you? It’s confusing. If he wants revenge on my parents, why did he have to target you?"
Jayden grabbed my hand and pulled me into the living room to sit on the couch. I was glaring at the man, observing if he would move from where he was sitting.
"Love, I had been in contact with him for the past weeks. After we returned from Flousia, I decided to come here because I know I’ve been frequently switching with my other personalities. But before I could reach this place, Luke called me. That man was caught lurking around A.E Tower." He said.
"Why didn’t you tell me?" I asked.
"I’m sorry for not telling you. I wanted to make sure that what he said was the truth so I assigned a team to investigate about him. He asked me to help him, but I needed some proof of his loyalty. I asked him to be a spy, but instead of reporting every day. I told him I will come to this place once I’m ready." He paused.
"I pretended not to know anything to test him. I wanted to know if his confession before was the same as what he said earlier. I didn’t see any loopholes except the fact that he was here when the Trekker Clan destroyed this town. You came here after I told you about this place because Willow Green was attacked five years ago. Your mother died three years ago and that was the only time you knew about your father." Jayden continued.
My heart beat so fast. It made sense and Jayden had a point. The man had no idea about his father and Jonathan until his mother died so he couldn’t be in Willow Green when it was attacked. He was living quietly with his family when it happened and didn’t know anything about the mafia.
I looked at the man and waited for him to answer. My heart wouldn’t stop pounding and chills ran through my nape. Instead of a response, he chuckled, making me more anxious.
"You’re really good, Jayden. And you were right. I didn’t know anything about you guys until my mother asked me to look for my father. I got involved in your world because of him. But like you, I was testing you." The man said.
I frowned. "Testing him? Why?"
The man sighed. "I needed to know if I could trust him. Indeed, I called Jonathan and told him you are here. They are currently on their way here."
I was shocked. I turned to Jayden and stood up.
"We should get out of here. He would take us and might threaten my brother to give up the throne. Caden would be in danger!" I panicked.
My knees felt so weak as it was trembling from fear. I was afraid for the lives of the people I love.
"Calm down." Jayden whispered.
I turned to him with a worried face.
"How can I calm down knowing that Jonathan—"
Jayden suddenly grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into his arms.
"I’m sorry, love. I know that you would get mad at me for doing this. Don’t look for me."
That was last words I heard before losing my consciousness.
