My Dreams Connect to Ancient Times-Chapter 238 - 66: Entering the Origin, Meeting the 3 Masters
Above all Realms and Celestial Realms.
Three Daoist Palaces stretched, deep and boundless.
In Douluo Palace, the main gates stood wide open. Two children voluntarily withdrew.
Immediately after, the Lame Daoist and the Blind Daoist walked in, wreathed in Chaos.
The former’s steps were slow, but each one brought the Nirvana of ten thousand Great Realms. The latter’s eyelids were lowered, his body draped in seventy-two colors. He was shrouded in a dim, spectral light, with every fruit and cause interwoven to form his Daoist robes.
"Supreme."
After the two Daoists sat cross-legged on their rush mats, the one with a blind eye spoke in a spectral voice:
"Cause and Effect is in turmoil. I cannot see its source."
"That should not be." The old man stared at the great fire roaring beneath the Eight Trigrams Furnace and said indifferently, "The Three Pristine Ones each occupy a Complete Dao Fruit Position. As The Three Pristine Ones are one, no one in heaven or on earth can scheme against us."
"Indeed."
"Quite so."
The Blind Daoist and the Lame Daoist chimed in, one after the other.
After a pause, the Lame Daoist spoke thoughtfully:
"Supreme, you are Existence, the foundation of all things. In this time of decline for the great era, you have not reached Perfection and are incomplete. Perhaps some of our Fellow Daoists have taken this opportunity to exploit a weakness."
He paused, then smiled.
"But what of it? These are merely petty tricks. We are the cause of the Creation of Heaven and Earth, the foundation for the Existence of all beings, and the fruit of all things’ end. If we wish to play a game of chess with them, they can only play. If we are displeased, we can simply flip the board."
All three of The Three Pristine Ones felt a premonition deep within, sensing that some supremely powerful being was scheming against them.
Supreme shook his head and said impassively,
"It is as I said. The Three Pristine Ones are one. No one can scheme against or deceive us. Yet now, I cannot see the source of this premonition. It is very strange."
As he spoke, he gently turned his palm over. The River of Time materialized, with all of past, present, and future held within his hand.
Supreme continued,
"I just perused all of history and discovered something amiss. My disciple’s future has been woven, but Xiaoxuan is an ’Indefinite Number’ and should not have a predetermined future..."
"Furthermore, I cannot divine or see clearly who it was that wove Xiaoxuan’s future."
Primordial and Spirit Treasure stared straight ahead, both putting on a display of righteous indignation, appearing shocked and angry.
"What scoundrel dares to plot against our nephew!"
Supreme gave them a strange look, puzzled.
"Why are you two reacting so strongly? Did I not just say that Xiaoxuan is an ’Indefinite Number’? He was born with Transcendence over Time. Even if some bug hiding in the shadows has woven his future, it will have no effect. The Years will not constrain him."
Primordial’s lips twitched, but he said nothing. Spirit Treasure, however, cleared his throat.
"Well, I wouldn’t necessarily call them a bug in the shadows. To be able to hide from you, Supreme, they must be extraordinary. Regardless of their purpose, they can be said to possess Great Divine Techniques."
Supreme glanced at him, shook his head, and said slowly,
"I am not worried about Xiaoxuan. He has Transcendence over Time, and his future is unfixed. Even if his fate has been woven, it is merely an illusion. What I find strange is this: of the Nine Directions Dao Fruit’s great positions, The Three Pristine Ones occupy three. Even if we are all damaged and temporarily not at Perfection, no one should be able to deceive us."
He fell into contemplation for a moment, then added,
"And yet, right now, not only can I not see who wove Xiaoxuan’s future, I also cannot see who was just scheming against us. This is very strange... It makes no sense. Have you two sensed anything?"
Primordial unconsciously touched his cheek, then put on an indifferent expression and shook his head.
"The Three Pristine Ones are one. We suffer together and prosper together. Since you cannot see, Supreme, how could we?"
"True." Supreme frowned and thought for a long time before waving his hand. "Forget it. I will ponder this further on my own. I feel as if I’ve missed some crucial point."
The Blind Daoist cupped his hands in a salute, and the Lame Daoist also nodded slightly. The two took their leave together. The great gates of Douluo Palace closed once more, and the flames of the Eight Trigrams Furnace roared on.
Only the old man remained, still lost in thought, muttering to himself:
’It makes no sense...’
’Who in the world is clouding the perception of The Three Pristine Ones?’
’Throughout all of time, who could possibly do this?’
’No one...’
He could not make heads or tails of it.
Meanwhile, once the two Daoists were far from Douluo Palace, they both heaved a sigh of relief.
"We were found out," the Lame Daoist said, shrinking his neck back. "Thankfully, someone really was scheming against us just now, so Supreme thinks that unknown fellow was behind everything..."
"You have the nerve to say that?"
Primordial shot him a look and said irritably,
"The Three Pristine Ones are one. By deceiving Supreme, we are deceiving ourselves. If not for that, how could I have failed to see which Fellow Daoist was acting in the shadows just now?"
Spirit Treasure said, displeased,
"Primordial, that’s not right. It’s not like I did it alone. We worked together to cover Supreme’s eyes... Should we dispel the veil?
He paused, his expression turning solemn.
"The Three Pristine Ones wither and flourish as one. To be honest, we’ve essentially crippled our own Divine Techniques. We’ve covered Supreme’s eyes, but we’ve also covered our own, which is why we can’t see clearly now."
"Dispel the veil??"
Primordial stared at the Lame Daoist with his one good eye.
"Let the scoundrel scheme. What can he do? What would he dare to do? But if Supreme finds out what we’ve done..."
He touched his cheek again.
The Lame Daoist also shrank his neck back.
"That’s a fair point. Forget it, let’s just ignore it... I’m just confused. With our own Divine Techniques crippled, how were we still able to detect a clue about that certain Fellow Daoist acting in the shadows... Just how weak is he?"
Primordial shrugged.
"Let him be. It’s just a petty trick. The real problem is that Supreme has seen through the false future we wove. Given enough time, he’ll inevitably discover the truth. We should think about how to deal with that..."
