My Dragon King System-Chapter 352: The Battle Of Guild Captains (II)
In the next moment, Greyfus came crashing back down to the ground with a heavy thud. Daegal’s wind tornado had caught him mid-air and violently carried him back to Team A’s part of the field.
This marked his second failed attempt at breaching Team B’s line since recovering from the first.
Greyfus quickly pushed himself back up, with fury on his face as he glared at Daegal across the distance.
The captain of Fractured Stars had already shifted his focus, casting another wind tornado, but this time to pull Veron back from where she’d crashed and return her safely to Team B’s side.
"That wind magic of his..." Greyfus muttered through gritted teeth. Daegal’s versatility with wind made him the better fighter in one-on-one exchanges.
But what he truly hated was how embarrassed he was feeling, especially knowing that his guild members were watching.
Azam’s attention on the other hand, had drifted upwards. "They’re really at it," he said in a voice that carried a note of awe.
His words made the others around him, Elena, Greyfus turn their gazes upward for a split moment.
High above the battlefield, Ursula moved like a twinkling star, weaving gracefully between the simultaneous attacks from both mages.
She avoided each strike using her Stellar Port spell, a short-distance teleportation technique that allowed her to flash away and reappear in bursts of light, like a blinking star.
It didn’t matter how many painted explosive creatures Elian sent flying toward her, or how many vibration waves Melisende unleashed, Ursula simply teleported away in a twinkling flash, evading every attack effortlessly.
Once she’d avoided the barrage entirely, Ursula came to a halt in midair before them.
She lifted her hand toward the two captains, and seven magic circles materialized around her in an intricate pattern.
Blue lines of energy connected each circle together, forming what appeared to be a constellation.
Then she spoke in a solemn voice:
"Celestial Magic: Crushing Zodiac."
Each magic circle released a powerful projectile of brilliant blue light. The spheres shot forward, with each one carrying the strength of a small asteroid.
The sheer volume was overwhelming as they pushed forward in rapid succession from the magical circles, all aimed simultaneously at both Elian and Melisende.
Elian’s eyes widened in alarm. "Are you serious?!"
He swung his paintbrush frantically through the air, creating multiple layers of invisible barriers in quick succession.
The projectiles kept striking and quickly shattered through one barrier, then another and continued relentlessly, breaking through a third, fourth, and fifth layer before finally slowing as it reached the sixth and final barrier.
"Melisende! A little help here!" Elian shouted desperately.
But the captain of Red Orcas was already moving. She thrust both hands forward and whispered, "Vibration Magic: Grand Resonance!"
A massive shockwave of oscillating force erupted from her palms and spread outward in a wide cone.
It collided with Ursula’s celestial barrage mid-air, disrupting the cohesion of the projectiles and causing them to destabilize and explode prematurely in brilliant flashes of light.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The sky above them lit up like fireworks as explosion after explosion rippled through the air, illuminating the battlefield below in cascading bursts of blue radiance.
From the sidelines, Thamoryn leaned toward Oberon with an impressed expression. "You know, I think Ursula on that team is a bit too much. She’s rightfully Grand Magus level."
Oberon nodded slowly, with his eyes never leaving the aerial battle. "But they’re both holding their ground too. This is exactly what I wanted to see."
"Looks like she’s got that handled," Azam said, returning his attention back to Daegal and Veron.
The captain of Crimson Dawn had recovered, though her face was visibly bruised. She glared at Azam with fury in her eyes, and gritted teeth visible even from this distance.
Azam immediately got an awkward expression on his face and raised his hand in an apologetic wave, as though trying to say sorry.
"Stay right here, Elena. I think we can take them both," Azam said in a tone that shifted back to focus.
"Yes, Mr. Azam," Elena replied with a nod, stepping back slightly while maintaining her position in front of the wall of water behind her.
"Let’s go, Greyfus," Azam said, adjusting his stance as the flow of his magic surged through him.
He had just activated Mystic Field, drawing more mana from the surroundings. A whitish miasma of velocity magic rose from his body like steam.
Greyfus didn’t respond verbally. He simply activated Mystic Field as well, and his own aura flared outward.
Across the battlefield, Daegal and Veron responded in kind. Miasma poured out of them in thick waves.
The younger mage standing beside Oliver’s eyes widened. "What is this mana? Is this how strong the captains are?"
Oliver scoffed amusingly. It sounded almost cute hearing that from him. Three years ago that would have surprised him just as much, but he had experienced even more terrifying mana surges. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
The captains of Team A moved forward.
The ground beneath Greyfus erupted in a series of controlled explosions that propelled him forward.
Each blast launched him closer to the center of the battlefield in a zigzagging pattern that made him nearly impossible to track.
Veron flew forward to intercept him. She conjured several sets of swords mid-flight and sent them hurtling toward different predicted paths he might take.
But Greyfus saw them coming.
His explosions propelled him off their trajectories one by one, moving left, then right, then upward until another blast sent him spiraling over the final wave of incoming blades entirely.
The swords buried themselves harmlessly in the ground below as he continued his advance toward the female captain.
——
Azam, on the other hand, had already arrived at the other end of the battlefield.
He moved at Mach 1000 and a blur of white light that tore across the field so fast he was invisible to most observers.
He ran past the sticky part of Elian’s terrain with such overwhelming momentum that it completely overpowered the adhesive grip trying to slow him down.
Moreover, at this very moment, his magic was simply stronger than the strength of that sticky ground.
Azam’s speed had given him the edge to reach Team B’s side without being interrupted by any attack from Daegal.
Daegal hadn’t even bothered making an attempt to strike Azam as he moved. it would’ve been useless given their speed gap. Instead, as soon as he’d activated Mystic Field, Daegal focused entirely on reinforcing the wind wall barricade initially raised over their boundary line.
He poured everything into it, determined to prevent Azam from breaching through.
Azam arrived in a flash and immediately began releasing a barrage of punches that moved like sonic booms crashing against Daegal’s barrier.
His fists blurred into afterimages; so many punches coming so fast they seemed simultaneous rather than sequential.
Each strike hit with devastating force against the swirling wind wall, sending shockwaves outward with every impact.
BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!
He got faster every fraction of a second, but Daegal held steadily with gritted teeth and visible strain on his face as cracks began forming along his wind barrier under relentless assault
