My Dragon King System-Chapter 272: A Violent Uproar
Lilith’s expression darkened immediately at those words and her eyes blazed with fury as she took a step forward toward Thera.
"Are you questioning my decisions, Thera?"
Thera didn’t back down.
"Mother, we’ve had to deal with uproar and questions from the other gods over the last few days while you’ve only been more interested in building more rounds in bed with him!"
She pointed directly at Samael as she spoke those final words.
The room went completely silent. Some of the other Archons shifted uncomfortably at Thera’s bluntness, though none of them disagreed with what she said.
Not even Myria.
Lilith’s face contorted into an expression of pure rage, and it looked like she was about to lash out—
But then Samael started chuckling, almost mocking in its tone as it echoed through the hall.
Everyone turned toward him, surprised by his reaction.
Samael then stepped forward casually, walking past Lilith until he stood directly in front of Thera.
And then, without warning, his hand shot out and grabbed Thera by the throat.
His grip was firm and unyielding as he lifted her slightly off the ground, forcing her to meet his gaze as he spoke in a cold voice:
"That’s about enough from you."
The entire hall erupted into chaos at once.
Lilith’s eyes widened in shock. She hadn’t expected him to act so suddenly or so violently against one of her children.
But Orion reacted instantly.
Yellow lightning exploded around his body as he blitzed forward and drove his fist directly into Samael’s torso with devastating force.
His grip on Thera’s throat released immediately and the impact sent Samael flying backward across the hall and slamming into one of the crystalline pillars near the far wall with enough force to crack it.
Thera dropped to one knee, clutching her throat as she struggled to draw in a proper breath, with her head bowed toward the ground.
"Don’t you ever lay your hands on Thera!" Orion roared, with his voice echoing throughout the hall like thunder.
Samael’s eyes blazed with fury as he glared at Orion. "You dare?"
Samael launched himself forward with tremendous speed in a bid to close the distance between himself and Orion.
Orion didn’t hesitate either, yellow lightning erupted around his body even more violently than before as he rushed forward to meet Samael head-on. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
But before either of them could collide, Lilith appeared instantly between them.
She stretched both arms out to either side, positioning herself directly in the path of both charging forces.
Her left hand, stretched toward Orion, released a red blob of energy that shot forward and wrapped around him.
The energy had seized him mid-charge, locking him in place despite his momentum. Orion’s entire body strained against the restraint as yellow lightning flared violently around him, crackling and surging as he tried desperately to break free.
At the same time, Lilith turned her head toward Samael on her right side. Her arm remained stretched toward him as she spoke in a voice that was both firm and pleading:
"Please, my love."
Samael stopped immediately. He stood there for a moment, staring down at Lilith with vexed expression on his face.
Finally and wthout saying another word, Samael turned and walked out of the hall.
Lilith watched him go before turning her attention back toward Orion. Her expression shifted instantly into one of fury.
Without warning, she flung her left hand away and the red energy restraining Orion released him abruptly and simultaneously hurled him backward.
Orion’s body slammed into the wall behind him with enough impact to crack it deeply. He let out a grunt of pain as he fell forward onto one knee, breathing heavily but otherwise unharmed.
Lilith then turned toward the rest of her gathered children who stood watching with agitated expressions on their faces.
Her red eyes swept across them all before she spoke sharply:
"Those people from the pit, each carry a part of Arzun within them... and might as well even be your own siblings."
She paused deliberately to let that statement settle before continuing:
"They were the ones who came to my aid when all of you, whom I call my children, left me there to rot for thousands and thousands of years."
"Do not forget that."
Then her gaze turned specifically toward Thera, who had now stood up, but with one hand still rubbing gently at her throat.
"I will take your insolence no further," Lilith said. "This is the last time you ever question my decision."
With that final declaration, Lilith turned on her heel and walked out of the hall without looking back.
The remaining Archons watched silently as she left.
——
Meanwhile, within Asahel’s residence...
The demon lords had been staying here since Lilith resurrected them days ago.
She had asked them to remain here rather than wandering freely through Eden until further notice.
In one corner of a wide chamber, was Asmodai and Asahel sitting opposite each other at a low table.
Between them was a board game known as The Game of Kings. It resembled chess in some ways, but its rules were far more complex.
Both players were complete silence as they moved their pieces across the board without speaking or acknowledging anything else around them.
On the far side of the chamber sat Kaerys alongside Jynx and Korvax near another corner where they’d been idly watching the game for what felt like hours.
"We’ve been sitting for days now," Kaerys muttered irritably as he gestured toward where Asmodai and Asahel still sat locked in their silent game.
"And I’m tired of doing nothing except watching them both play this stupid game over and over again," he added with frustration in his voice.
Jynx chuckled lightly at that but said nothing in response while Korvax simply shrugged indifferently beside them both.
That was when a footstep made echoing sounds through the chamber. All heads turned immediately toward the entrance as a figure stepped through into view.
Samael.
He walked calmly into the room with his hands clasped behind his back as he surveyed those gathered before him.
"Indeed."
His voice drew every demon lord’s attention at once.
Morrigan had been standing outside on one of the open verandas overlooking Eden when she heard Samael’s voice from within the room behind her.
Within moments, all nine demon lords had assembled together in that single chamber alongside Asahel.
Samael’s gaze moved towards Asahel and he said calmly.
"Give us the room, I need to speak with my generals."
Asahel inclined his head respectfully then turned and walked toward the exit.
There was silence for a moment, as though they had been waiting for Asahel to leave listening range.
Then Samael’s gaze shifted toward Kaerys.
"It’s been quiet," Samael began, "because I’ve been studying this place. Damnation doesn’t come from haste, It comes from knowing exactly where to strike."
He gestured around himself as if indicating Eden itself beyond the walls of Asahel’s residence.
"The place with the most source of what I want has been handed to me on a platter," he continued. "And I’m only making certain that when it begins... there will be no way out."
Morrigan stepped forward then, with her expression thoughtful as she spoke:
"What of Lilith and your angel son, my lord?"
Samael chuckled softly at that question.
"Oh, that foolish woman, She has indeed proven herself useful and I see no reason to discard her while she still serves a purpose.
Then his expression shifted slightly as he continued:
"And as for Isda?" Samael said. "Well... he is an angel. He cannot refute the father who begot him."
Morrigan nodded at that answer before asking another question:
"How then shall we proceed?, You need only give us the command."
