My Dragon Baby and Billionaire Husband-Chapter 624: A Date? Hiking Kind! 2
Si Mingjing and Mo Yinhe also managed to reach the Hot Spring Villa before the sun set.
They sat on the terrace of the Hot Spring Villa, enjoying the mountain breeze and eating game meat while admiring the sunset over the distant sea.
"It’s so beautiful."
Si Mingjing swirled the red wine in her goblet, took a light sip, and felt utterly content.
Although they could also watch the sunset from the Ye Family palace, the sensation of climbing a mountain to overlook everything, making the world below seem small, was entirely different from viewing it at the palace.
Mo Yinhe had someone marinate the game he hunted. They then ate barbecue on the terrace, feeling quite carefree.
The afterglow of the sunset illuminated their faces with a warm and intimate glow.
Mo Yinhe sat opposite Si Mingjing, watching her tie her long hair up with a leather strap into a high ponytail. She looked spirited and valiant!
"Mingjing, you really are the most beautiful."
"Of course. Otherwise, how could I be your wife?"
Si Mingjing tossed her ponytail, not feigning modesty in the slightest.
Leaving behind the worries of the epidemic, enjoying a barbecue with Mo Yinhe on this mountaintop, watching the sunset, and hearing there would even be a hot spring bath later—Si Mingjing felt all her displeasure swept away. Indeed, people really do need to get out more often, she thought.
"Oh, Brother Mo, Miss Si."
Someone emerged from the villa; it was Yan Mu and Yan Zhenxi.
Yan Mu had followed the scent.
Mo Yinhe’s eyes narrowed. "What are you doing here?"
Yan Zhenxi explained, "There’s an epidemic in the city, so Second Uncle asked my father to come stay at the Hot Spring Villa for a while. We’ve been here for several days now. How is the epidemic being controlled down the mountain? What kind of meat is this? It smells delicious."
Si Mingjing patted the empty space beside her. "It’s rabbit meat. Try some."
Yan Mu sat down too, right next to Mo Yinhe, eager to taste it.
Mo Yinhe was displeased. He had wanted to spend some romantic time alone with Mingjing, but two people had unexpectedly intruded! This was his vacation villa. Had his father not informed him before inviting people over? Now, with four of them eating barbecue together, that intimate and charming atmosphere had instantly vanished. How frustrating!
Si Mingjing, however, didn’t mind. The more, the merrier, she thought.
She laughed, a touch of sarcasm in her tone. "The epidemic situation has improved. Mu Genggeng developed a formula that’s been quite helpful in controlling the illness. Since I wasn’t needed anymore, I came for a vacation. What a coincidence to find you both here."
Upon hearing Mu Genggeng’s name, Yan Zhenxi’s expression soured. She snorted, "Is she really that amazing?"
"Yes. She sent a box of soil to my master, which caused the epidemic outbreak. Yet, within five days, she developed a treatment and became famous overnight. Now everyone is calling her a genius doctor..."
Si Mingjing’s words were loaded with information.
Yan Zhenxi was stunned, her face suddenly turning grim. "She caused the epidemic?"
Si Mingjing said nothing more, merely holding her glass and taking a light sip.
Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at Yan Mu.
Yan Mu looked as if he wished the earth would swallow him whole.
"Miss Si, please don’t look at me like that," Yan Mu stammered. "I had absolutely nothing to do with this. I didn’t know about any of these things she did."
Mo Yinhe retorted sharply, "You’re just a fool. Why would she let you know?"
Under the table, Si Mingjing kicked Mo Yinhe.
Yan Mu wasn’t Ye Shen; it wasn’t appropriate for Mo Yinhe to scold him like that, Si Mingjing thought.
Mo Yinhe, in turn, subtly hooked his leg around hers beneath the table.
Their feet began a playful, hidden dance.
Si Mingjing glared at him.
Mo Yinhe not only didn’t restrain himself but intensified his efforts. What a frustratingly reserved yet secretly passionate man! she fumed internally.
Si Mingjing maintained a calm facade. While eating her grilled meat, she said, "Let’s not discuss these unpleasant topics. Is your father here too, Zhenxi? It would be a good opportunity for me to give him a follow-up checkup."
Yan Zhenxi quickly changed the subject. "Yes, he is. My parents are talking in their room. Dad said that after taking your medicine for a while, he feels he has completely recovered. He doesn’t experience dizziness anymore. Mingjing, you are a truly skilled doctor with excellent medical ethics. Anyone who resorts to unscrupulous means for fame is simply unworthy of being a doctor!"
Si Mingjing nodded. "Then I’ll give your father his follow-up examination tomorrow. The last time I checked on him, he was already much better. I expect he should be fully recovered by now."
"Thank you, Mingjing."
Yan Zhenxi poured herself a glass of wine and raised it to Si Mingjing. "I’ll be heading back in a few days. I wish I could stay and enjoy myself here a bit longer."
"So soon?"
"Not really. My husband has been calling every day, urging me to come home. I originally planned to leave after Si Yuan’s engagement party, but it had to be postponed due to the epidemic. I’m also starting to miss my son, so I’ve decided to leave the day after tomorrow."
The main reason was Ye Qinghan pestering her with calls every day. Knowing about the dangerous virus spreading here, he was constantly on edge, terrified she might get infected. If she didn’t leave soon, Ye Qinghan might just come and drag her back himself.
"What about your parents?"
"My parents said they want to settle down here. They’re both retired, and after living here for a while, they’ve found the environment quite pleasant and very suitable for their retirement. I’ll likely be visiting more often in the future since they’ll be here."
After saying this, Yan Zhenxi turned to scold her brother, "You are not to see Mu Genggeng again! Just consider your comrade’s sister to be dead!"
"No!" Yan Mu stated firmly.
Yan Zhenxi glared furiously.
Then Yan Mu continued, "There must be a way to drive Song Pianlan out of Genggeng’s body! I have to find it!"
Yan Zhenxi sighed. "...Fine, do as you wish. But remember, don’t let the current Mu Genggeng manipulate you like a fool. You need to come to terms with your comrade’s death. A’Mu, don’t be so hard on yourself. What happened was tragic, but it wasn’t your fault. Let it go."
Yan Mu focused on eating his grilled meat, affecting an air of nonchalance. "You’re being a nag. Don’t worry about me; I’m doing great!"
He had been taking the medicine prescribed by Miss Si for the past few days, and he felt that this depressive episode had been shorter than usual. Hunting in the mountains recently had also significantly lightened his mood.
So, after the meal, Yan Mu found an opportunity to speak with Si Mingjing privately. "Miss Si," he said, "the pills you gave me last time have had a significant effect on my depression. I can confirm they are better and work faster than any antidepressant I’ve taken before."
This was great news! Si Mingjing thought.
Si Mingjing asked, "May I take your pulse?"
Yan Mu extended his hand.
Si Mingjing took his pulse.
After a few moments, she nodded. "The symptoms of liver qi stagnation, disharmony between the spleen and stomach, and qi and blood stasis have all disappeared. It seems the medicine is indeed effective. I’ll still need to find more subjects for clinical trials to definitively confirm this formula."
Mo Yinhe, having changed his clothes in his room, returned to find the two of them whispering together. The sight rankled him.
With long strides, Mo Yinhe walked towards them, his powerful aura preceding him.
"What are you talking about?"
"Nothing much. We were just discussing where to go for a hot spring soak."
Si Mingjing proactively linked her arm through Mo Yinhe’s. This intimate gesture clearly pleased him.
He reciprocated by looping his arm around her waist. The gaze he fixed on her face was so tender it seemed to overflow with affection. "I’ll take you there now."
